I came in for a second opinion for a kitten I recently adopted after he developed an upper respiratory infection. From the moment I arrived, the front desk staff was welcoming and friendly. They quickly provided the paperwork I needed to complete for my kitten. Not long after I finished, we were brought into an exam room. The veterinary technician took the time to ask about my kitten's medical history, current symptoms, and the reason for my visit. She was patient, and made me feel comfortable throughout the process. Dr. Christie Panaligan came in shortly afterward to examine my kitten. She carefully evaluated his condition, recommended continuing his current medications, and prescribed an additional antibiotic. She was attentive, thorough, and took the time to clearly explain his condition and treatment plan. Horrible service and extremely rude. Doctor ran out during exam of my 6week old puppy. I understand emergencies happen. But she never came back nurse came took my dog in the back for "deworming" while I paid , brought my puppy back n sent me on my way, Doctor never came back so I asked to speak to her, had questions for care n her answer was she was done and I should understand she had an emergency. No chance to ask how he'd react to deworming, what to watch for... Nothing mind you I went in for 6 week old puppy blood in stool. Bad service. read more

Excellent staff and service. My dog was very sick. She was throwing up and having very bad diarrhea. Her overall physical health was not good and she was barely moving her body. I rushed to Companion 30 minutes before closing very panicked and without an appointment. The staff was very nice and polite. They calmed me down and accommodated me right there. Dr. Simran informed me after running a test that it was a viral disease called parvovirus and if we did not do treatment that there was a very good chance that my dog would not make it through the night. I agreed to do treatment and after treatment I saw an immediate change in her behavior and health. 10/10 would definitely recommend to bring your pets here!! Huge thank you to Dr. Simran and her staff for saving my pet and being so kind to us as well as staying even after closing to make sure my pet was in good health before we went home. read more

NEVER TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!! IT'S A SCAM! Not to mention the exam rooms are FILTHY, so I can only imagine what the rooms we don't see look like. I have 2 VERY WELL cared for dogs that I brought here for dental cleanings. The price kept changing and of course going up. One of my dogs developed a severe hacking issue the next day...mind you he's had annual cleanings for years with ZERO issue. When I called them to express concern, they lied about being busy and tried other tactics to avoid me bringing him back. I of course insisted and instead of standing behind their work the doctor had the AUDACITY to want to charge me $840, in addition to the several thousand I'd paid the day before, to figure out how her clinic injured my dog!! I cannot imagine how a doctor can lack so much integrity?? And if this is her customer facing interaction...I seriously question how they are treating the animals! I wholeheartedly do not recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone who cares about their pet. I rarely give one-star reviews, but this one is well-deserved. Buckle up, because this is a long and thorough review. My partner and I brought our rescue kitten to this hospital after recently moving to the area. My partner has extensive experience with cats, having fostered, trapped, neutered/spayed, and released them in our previous location. He also had a great relationship with a vet hospital there. So, to say this hospital fell short of reasonable expectations would be an understatement. We came in for an annual exam, and the vet completely missed a wound on our kitten's chest, which we discovered later the same day. While mistakes happen, we were frustrated when the hospital denied missing the wound and instead tried to blame us for not calling them immediately. We didn't call because it was after hours, and frankly, we were already disappointed with the lack of a thorough examination. Over the weekend, the wound began to ooze and smell. They were the only hospital with immediate availability, so we reluctantly decided to give them another chance. That was a mistake. While two of the female veterinary nurses clearly cared and knew what they were doing, the male nurse during our second visit was inept. He used a regular-sized thermometer on our tiny kitten instead of a more appropriate one. The previous nurse had avoided the procedure entirely since it wasn't necessary. This male nurse also seemed clueless about our situation, and we had to repeat ourselves several times. When the doctor came in, she absolved herself of any responsibility and insisted we pay the recheck fee--despite the fact that we shouldn't have needed a recheck if the initial exam had been thorough. Had they owned up to their mistake, we wouldn't be writing this review. Their fees are exorbitant, with unnecessary services pushed on customers for additional charges. For example, we were told that if our kitten passed rice-like grains, she would need a deworming shot in addition to the oral dewormer. When we called about this, they insisted on a fecal exam before administering the shot. After some back-and-forth, we finally received the shot without the exam, but only after we advocated for our kitten. Additionally, when we checked the cost of medications, we found that they were marked up by 100%. Lastly, a seemingly small issue that speaks volumes--this veterinary hospital didn't have a kitten-sized cone to prevent our cat from licking her wound. Kittens are part of their clientele, yet they couldn't provide basic care in this regard. In summary, I regret putting our kitten through this experience. This hospital's lack of care, accountability, and exorbitant fees have ensured that we will not be returning. read more

UPDATE 1: The Practice Manager called me to ask for some of my time to walk me through their processes and the changes being made in response to my complaints. I was initially open to hearing them out, but the 20-minute conversation turned into an explanation of why I was wrong or misunderstood them. When we got to the most important part--the fact that they missed the lump in the original diagnosis--there was no apology and no acceptance of responsibility. Instead, the doctor blamed the front desk staff! For the record, the front staff were the only wonderful part of this experience. Shame on the doctor for refusing to take responsibility. This is the same doctor who said the lump wasn't worth mentioning. UPDATE 2: We sought a second opinion and were horrified to learn how badly Companion handled our kitten's care. Companion underdosed her antibiotics by more than half and only gave us a week's supply when more was clearly needed. Additionally, the second vet found a minor ear infection that Companion completely missed during their "examination." To top it off, the second vet provided a much better level of care--and quoted us significantly lower prices for the same services. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB to hold this doctor accountable for their negligence. ORIGINAL POST: I am incredibly dissatisfied with the care and service at Companion Animal Hospital. We adopted a stray kitten on Friday and brought her in the same day for an annual exam initial visit, trusting the vet to perform a thorough examination. Unfortunately, they completely missed a lump, which we later discovered ourselves. This lump turned out to be a wound that should have been addressed during the appointment. When we brought this up during a follow-up visit the following Monday and asked for a reduced price on the visit fee, they refused to take accountability for their oversight. They claimed it was our fault for not calling the same day as our visit. The vet then claimed the lump wasn't missed but was deemed not needing attention. However, no notes of this were included in any paperwork given to us. Who wants to trust a doctor who notices something wrong and doesn't inform you? To make matters worse, their pricing is far above the quality of care provided. For example, they charged us $55 just to shave a quarter-sized piece of fur off our kitten--and that was the self-described discounted rate! This kind of gouging, combined with their lack of thoroughness, makes it clear they prioritize profits over providing attentive and compassionate care. This experience has completely shaken our trust in their ability to care for pets. I cannot recommend this facility to anyone who values quality veterinary care at a reasonable price. read more

Unfortunate, Yelp does not offer negative stars review. The story begins when I took my dog to see the veterinarian for what thought was for fleas. The doctor appear to be afraid to performed an examination on my dog as she ask me to hold him up to see his belly. She seem to agree that his biting around his tail and scratch his neck was to confirm what I thought was flea. I am not a veterinarian. She did recommend Bravecto (was purchased) and a shot of Cytopoint (May 19, 2025) not purchased. At that time, I was not fully aware as to why both drug would be recommend. I decline the shot. After some time the scratching did not go away, so I had them give him the shot of Cytopoint on Friday May 23, 2025. They told me that the drug would take 1-2 days to show sign of improvement. Well on Monday (May 26, 20250 it appears that the drug did not appear to show sign of improvement. Made a call on Tuesday May 27, 2025 an was inform that they would talk to the doctor and they would call me back. No call back. Tayia, the practice manager there is extremely rude and unprofessional. I took my dog in because he was vomiting in the morning took him in at 10 AM wasn't seen or checked in on until 11 AM When the vet walks in he literally just picks up my dog looks at him and says he looks normal and happy just monitor him give him bland food and walks out. In no way was there an exam, vital signs taken, or even being looked at properly. When I walk out I tell the receptionist which agrees with me and brings her manager because they were trying to charge me $50 for literally nothing!! Then the manager Taiya comes out and is super rude and tells me my dog was looked at and couldn't even pull up the supposedly vital signs that were taken!!! Do not go here they don't care about your animals they just want $$$$. Fix your staff, especially her being the manager is insane! I usually don't leave reviews nor do I like saying anything bad about a business. Though in this case it only seems necessary. I brought my dog here only because I moved back recently and was in need of looking for a new Vet to take my dog to. My dog is a female dog and was having some issues with her allergies and it was irritating her skin. The front was nice looking but when they take you to the back it was this beat up room and it smelled like someone had just smoked in there. The guy assisting was nice but the questions he was asking made me question at all if he knew what he was doing. The actual Vet. I don't even remember his name. He walked in wearing sun glasses???? Who does he think he is? It was ridiculous, then he asks me the same exact questions his assistant just asked me. I felt like this was going no where and I have been there for 30 minutes now. The Vet then starts listening to my dogs heartbeat. And all of a sudden he is taking a phone call!? I understand if there is an emergency but I didn't even see the vet at all after he walked out. The assistant came back in and handed me a 600 dollar bill saying this is what my dog needs. I know medication is expensive but they literally just went off of my dogs old Vet records. If I wanted a refill on medication I would've went back to my old vet. The professionalism was 0/10 The lady at the front is why I am putting 2 stars FYI they kept calling my dog a Male and tried to tell me that "He needs this much medication because of His weight" Which is a lie because I said, my dog is Female how much medication does a female dog need? Took my dog to companion pet hospital a week ago for an Abscessed tooth was given a liquid antibiotic that my dog refuses to swallow. Called them back to see if I could get different form of antibiotics ( pill I could crush ) and was told there was no replacement in pill form. Guess I'm calling another place . Oh and they don't return phone calls , I had to call them back. After seeing this they called and changed meds but it took me filing a complaint here before they did right. read more

The staff is nice but I grew suspicious of the vet after I attempted to get my SOAP notes for my pet insurance. It took over a week and two in-person visits to get the notes sent over and the excuse I got was that the vet had to write them up. If I'm not mistaken the notes are supposed to be drafted at or soon after the visit and tests, not a week and some change after. It gave the impression that they were not performing the full duties of their job, and as a result I had to wait almost a month to get reimbursed for a $700 visit. read more

Our family pet was not feeling well , they advised me to come in right away after explaining to the receptionist Alex ( she was the sweetest! Very understanding) about her symptoms, and thankfully I did ,my pet was diagnosed with Pyometra which is pus in the uterus. Dr.Simran is such an amazing doctor she explained everything and was very patient with us in this process of deciding to have sx done that same day , Mar and Deeanna were such wonderful techs they kept us updated throughout the day which helped us stay positive and comfortable , we picked her up later that night . Now 1 month later Millie is doing well amazing ! Happy than before ! Jumping, playing and running . Everyone treated us and our cat with nothing but care, kindness, and understanding of the circumstances we were dealing with, making such a difficult situation easier to navigate. I hate leaving poor reviews but I feel this is necessary when it comes to how important pets are to me/most pet owners. We have a cat who is 11 years old and suddenly lost nearly 10lbs out of nowhere. We took him to Companion and had a full blood panel done. They said there was nothing wrong with him. We had them email our blood results and we took them elsewhere and with one look at the bloodwork..our doctor said "probable Lymphoma" and proceeded to do further testing. our cat did have cancer. Unfortunately my veterinarian knowledge is little-to-none but the way the new vet reacted showed me that Companion should have known from these results that something was seriously wrong. The doctor I've worked with at Companion was always very sweet and nice but unfortunately this put a bad taste in my mouth. Also, took a pet here recently to get a lump tested in case of cancer... the vet tech who came in before the doctor was very unprofessional and started squeezing the lump out of nowhere. When some liquid discharged from it they were visibly disgusted and went to get the doctor. I was mortified and still to this day wonder why you would randomly squeeze a growth on an animal as if it were a pimple. What if my pet was in pain from the growth? He never asked anything. Just went ahead. This was a much smaller occurrence than the first but definitely worth a mention on professionalism and mindfulness. (They did an amazing job doing a cytology report and calling promptly to let me know my pet did have cancer. I took the results elsewhere for surgery but have no complaints about the procedure performed by Companion) read more

I have a runt kitty and not eating the lady was very supportive and was able to get me right in for her to be seen. But by the suggestions I for about giving her baby food. It worked she loves it and Al OST ate a jar I had to stop her because I don't want her throwing it all back up. She is 7 weeks old and only 14 ounces. Her 4 brothers were 1lb 8 oz. All adopted out thru the animal rescue in Tracy. Great people and they do a lot of hard work. If u want a great kitty go there. I'm not sure how this place has five stars.. the only reason I came here was because my regular vet and other vets in the area did not have availability for about a month. Yes, I know the business is fairly new, but the people that are rating this place 5 stars must have never went to a nice veterinary hospital before. Not only is the staff not friendly with your animals, they also seem like they want to rush you out and just collect money from you. The staff is not very professional, and they also are not compassionate such as wanting to greet your animal. The vet tech at my appointment never touched my dog, and when the actual doctor came in, she barely looked at what my concern was and tried to rush me out. She also did not touch the area of concern on my dog or even listen to my dogs heart until after she spoke to me about running tests on my dog. Those should the first things that a doctor does with a patient. The doctor also told me she is almost positive that my dog has breast cancer just from looking at my dog, not even touching her.. Am I the only one who thinks this is insane? Also, this clinic is very expensive.. $195 for a blood test and $195 for other tests. I left spending $500 for two tests and feeling uneasy because the unprofessional staff took my dog to the back to do the tests, my desperation to find out my dogs condition was high, and I was unsure if I made the correct decision about all of this. I still feel a certain way about this visit, which I have never felt about any other place. I have since then had an appointment with my regular vet to put my thoughts and distrust at ease.. to sum it up, my experience here was not a good one or pleasant. I will not be returning, and I will not suggest this place of business to anyone. I feel like I got ripped off here and told some things that should have not been told to me before tests were ran. Unethical and unprofessional are just a couple words that describe the staff at companion pet care. If you are thinking about going here because of the other two 5 star reviews, it may be a good idea to read this honest review and try somewhere else.
