We've been bringing our dog here since she was born in April 2021 and have never had an issue until now. I scheduled a vaccine-only appointment and specifically did not request an exam. Because I have a disability, my adult daughter is authorized on our account and brought our dog in for the visit. Instead of a vaccine appointment, my daughter was checked in for an exam. After answering routine questions from a veterinary technician, the veterinarian came into the room and performed an exam. My daughter was confused because previous vaccine appointments involved simply taking our dog back for vaccinations. We were then charged $74 for the exam and $130 for a fecal/heartworm test. The fecal charge was especially frustrating because we did not bring a sample, and I had already told the office the day before that I would not be doing that test. The office later refunded the $130 because no test was actually performed. When I called to discuss the unexpected exam charge, Susan, the office manager, told me my daughter had requested the exam, which is not true. She refused to remove the charge because the service had already been provided. I also found her dismissive, unwilling to listen, and she repeatedly spoke over me during the conversation. I am still waiting for a call back from Dr. Wallace. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled has caused me to lose confidence in the practice. I have requested my dog's records and will be transferring her care elsewhere. read more

We've brought our dogs here off and on for a few years now. I've never really had much to say good or bad. We've had pretty basic experiences here. But recently I've been pretty frustrated by them. I called recently to request an appointment and left a message. They did not return my phone call, so I had to call again myself and honestly the person who scheduled our appointment was curt and snappy with me. She could not have been more bothered. I started to get really sick within a few days of our appointment, so I called the day before to reschedule, leaving a message requesting a call back. Two days later, they once again have not returned my phone call. Poor communication is enough for me to choose a new vet, so that's what we will be doing. read more

I took my cat for emergency illness. They were able to see my cat the same day. Staff are friendly and offices are very clean. However, unfortunately I could not afford to return for a follow up, week later to check how my cat is recovering because they wanted to charge the same price the following week for doing all the testing all over again. Initial visit was over $900. When I returned the following week I was not allowed to speak to or see the doctor at follow up visit unless agreeing to pay to do repeat testings again. (Would have charged at least $700 for follow up visit not including any medication). My cat obviously had been improving because he was not lethargic anymore but scratching in carrying box wanting to get out. Definitely feeing better than prior week. Unfortunately I can't afford to keep returning to this vet and am currently in need of new veterinarian. read more

My sister in law recommended this place when we had an urgent visit. About a year later we had to put our 16 1/2 year old toy poodle down. All of the staff explained every step and were very patient and caring with us. We received a very nice card signed by the staff. It was so nice. Then about two weeks later we received another card saying there had been a donation to the Arbor Day foundation in her memory. As a tribute, a tree will be planted in Chippewa National Forest. I had to bring in my 18 year old fur baby after finding her in extreme pain in the morning. This vet center took us in right away in our emergency, met us outside with a gurney to help bring her inside. We had to say our goodbyes to my precious Honey B, but I was very comforted there. The staff were amazing and feeling. Very empathetic. They gave us as much time as we needed with our fur baby. I hadn't been here before, but I'm glad I went here. Compared to other vets I've been to, this is the best. Also affordable.. It took more stress off me knowing I could afford to give my baby the best farewell. I felt like there was no better place to be. They also gave me a lot of options for urns and made a paw print mold for free for a keepsake. I'm very sensitive and sentimental. My furry son Luke was overdue for his visit to the vet. I had been researching for a place to take him in Manteca since we moved. I'm glad I found this place on Yelp. I like and appreciate that they strictly follow COVID precautions. Our appointment was curbside service due to the veterinarian feeling under the weather that day. The entire staff wore masks. To control capacity, people were called in 1-2 at a time to pick up their pets and close out. Everyone was super friendly! Luke is usually hesitant when walking into a new place, but he stepped right in and followed the vet tech to the back without problems. My care plan was explained thoroughly over the phone. I was able to select what vaccines and tests I wanted Luke to have. Everything was priced out so I knew exactly what I was paying for. Appointment took about 45 minutes altogether. Today I received a postcard from them telling me my dog was due for a Wellness exam, problem she passed away the beginning of December. Needless to say I was devastated all over again. I called them and told them I was shocked to receive the card as she passed away after they refused to see her when I called to tell them she wasn't doing well. I had taken her earlier in the week to an emergency hospital in Modesto because Lathrop closes early and when I called them, they told me they were busy and the doctor said for me to take her back to the emergency hospital. I wasn't a new customer, we had been going to Lathrop Vet since 2018 for all our dogs. Today she said she was so very sorry but the emergency hospital never sent them notice of her passing. I told her well I certainly did because I had a different appointment for her later the next week and called to cancel it and definitely told them why. Things have gone downhill there in my opinion since Dr Jill left to move to Florida. They need more doctors and they need to pay more attention to details, like when someone calls to say their pet passed away. I truly believe if they had taken the time to see my little one the day I called (we are only 5 minutes from their office) things may have been different. Since December we have taken our other two dogs to a different vet that is open longer hours and always available if an emergency arises. I am sad that I even have to write this but want to warn others. I told her to make sure I never receive another postcard or email, let's see if they can follow through with that one. read more

Do not bring your pet here. It is expensive and charge me for no treatment. I paid 104.00 for a doctor visit and was not able to perform an examination as my dog was terrified. They only care about money and do not have the best interest in you or your pets. They should of not charge me unless an examination was made. They charge me for sitting in the room for 30 minutes waiting for the doctor. I asked if I will be charge for the next visit and they said yes. On July 18th I took my kitten in here to get a microchip. The next day she died. She bled to death after me telling them twice that she was still bleeding. And twice they told me it was normal. I recently took my pup here in March for his first visit. At this visit, we discussed his stool, concerns, received dewormer and a stool kit. They wanted to schedule me to have his 3rd shot and I said I would do it myself so my pup was scheduled for his rabies shot. During this, I was under the impression the rabies shot was included in the invoice since it was listed on there. Today, I took him in to get his rabies shot and was asked about his parvo shots. I was told that any home vaccinations are invalid and they suggested to give him the parvo shot in clinic, I declined. So he went in to get his rabies shot and when checking out, they said the rabies shot was $70 !! I was stunned and it caught me off guard, just because I was under the impression it was already paid for. Unfortunately I lost the paper, but I have the bank statement of being charged for the visit and the shot separately. So today I was charged for $70 for the rabies shot. I am extremely upset and feel like it should have been reiterated how much it would be if I didn't pay yet. I mentioned to the person in front that I prepaid and she printed out the invoice for me and said it was not prepaid. I would have much rather taken him to Pet Advocate in Tracy for his rabies shots. read more

Dr. Julie Herbert neutered and examined my adopted kitten before he was released to the shelter for me to pick up. Two days after I brought the kitten home, an abscess in his abdomen erupted leaving him with an open wound the size of a nickel. The wound was oozing puss and the kitten was in obvious discomfort. How did Dr. Herbert and her team oversee the developing abscess??? This was evident negligence. I called both Pets n Pals and Lathrop Veterinary and they both refused to take responsibility. I took him to another veterinarian in San Jose who confirmed the abscess had been developing for several weeks and that the kitten needed immediate surgery and antibiotics. How is it that a professional veterinarian and her team would examined and neuter my kitten while ignoring an obvious abscess in the kittens abdomen? I'm having to come out-of-pocket with the $300 vet bill. Based on my experience, I encourage readers to look elsewhere for caring and responsible vet care. read more

I came across this Vet because of its good reviews. My dog's collapsed trachea has gotten worse in June so It got me very worried, due to the covid I haven't really personally met Dr. Hilbert but she seems very nice, answered all questions that I have every time and very informative, the cough suppressant medication she prescribed help my dog. A month or two later we noticed that my dog has been having diarrhea on and off so I took him again to Lathrop Vet. Unfortunately they told me that Dr. Hilbert is no longer working there but Dr. Ayshea Marchiondo took over, she prescribed us with some meds first to see if it will work. She also did mentioned that my dog could be stressed, which could be the case because my Dad just passed away 7 months ago and he was his Master, so I stressed to her each time how important Roscoe is to us. The medicine she prescribed helped but then Roscoe's diarrhea was is on and off. Then, she told me that she noticed a lump on Roscoe's rear end and I told her Dr. Hilbert checked on it already and said it was fine, she said that she's worried and we should do some testing, so fluid extraction under the microscope was done first but she said she can't really tell so we had to send it to the lab which cost me $500 for everything that day, but anything for our furbaby. Then she prescribed me a medicine to see if the lump will go down, it was good for 2 weeks, after two weeks the lump was still the same size and she told me that the results came back and that the lump was a tumor but it was benign, due to Roscoe's age and collapsed trachea history we should just leave it alone. I trusted her judgement each time but was the worst thing to do because it almost cost me my dog's life. She misdiagnosed my dog couple of times. So from diarrhea, December 2020 Roscoe's problem is now constipation. I made an appointment and she told me we need to do an x-ray to find out how bad the constipation is. She called me and told me the horrific news that there is a foreign object obstruction in my dog. I was so terrified. She said that she'll do enema that if it won't work the next day after the x-ray, Roscoe needs to have a surgery ASAP. Then she called me again to tell me know that Roscoe has a bilateral perenial hernia and she can't do the surgery because only specialized surgeon can do it. THE LUMP SHE SAID WAS A BENIGN TUMOR, WAS A HERNIA. All Stockton Vet I called turned me down because of Roscoe's complications, even the first Dr. she referred me to. I called in SAC, UC DAVIS, even Colorado, and Virginia because one surgery will cost me starting of $7k each in CA. I almost lose hope and on top of that Dr. Ayshea, doesn't care I was the one who kept calling her to see if she can help me in recommending someone else, if there's one thing she did right was direct me to BEST vet Dr. Zach Alburi. He took Roscoe's complicated case, did the surgery and successfully took out the foreign object. Although we still have the hernia to worry later on at least my senior furbaby survived. This happened on the 6th and it's already the 11th and I have receive no phone call from that vet to see how Roscoe is doing! Lesson learned! Always ask for second option from another vet and switch if you feel that the vet is only there for the $$$$. read more

Hilbert was very through and patient with him as he didn't like vets much. After a full blood test and watered down pee test we couldn't really see what was wrong but he seemed pretty healthy for the most part... a month later his symptoms progressed and I rushed him back after continuous vomiting.. his blood came back completely off the charts with diabetes and pancreatitis.. unfortunately I couldn't save my sweet boy as his body was too far gone... I decided to put him down to end his suffering quicker as he was unresponsive... I can't say enough good things about lathrop vet. I have taken my dogs here multiple times for a variety of reasons. Every time I have left very satisfied and happy. The staff is so friendly, and very sweet. Dr Hilbert is by far the best. She is so sweet, knowledgeable and compassionate. My dogs absolutely love her and are so comfortable around her. Today my dog got a tumor removed from her tail and a dental cleaning. The communication was great between the dr, staff and myself. They called me right after her surgery and updates me, their prices seem so fair and I just feel they truly care about my dogs as if they are their own. Count on spending a minimum of $300 every time you come to this place. But it's not only the expense, it's leaving the office without having a definitive diagnosis. Three separate occasions, I've come out of here not knowing what was wrong with my dogs or cat. I'd be better off going to a vet school and have a student see my pets. Also, don't count on this practice supporting your desire to keep costs down by vaccinating your own pet, they won't approve the prescription. You go to a vet because you do not know what is wrong with your animal, so we trust in the people who know what they are doing. Or so we hope they know what they are doing. 500.00 later, 3 office visits and our dog is worse. She got something scratched in her eyes, and apparently she could possibly get a rupture. So on our first visit they should have signed us up for a pet insurance. But it wasn't till our third visit that they even said anything because we were talking about it. Now our dog can not get it for the "Pre existing condition! You never see the same person from the minute you walk in the door. There is the receptionist, then there is a person that takes your dog back, then they call you in a room, then you may see the vet or a technician, and then you see another person that breaks down the bill. Obviously they have so much overhead to justify there billing here. I honestly want a refund to the fact that non of there services helped my dog and only made her worse. These are professionals that are supposed to know what they are doing. No they are referring me to a specialty vet dealing in eyes, Oh boy do you see the bill rising here. I am sure since they made the appointment for us they get a cut out of that bill too. I would not recommend this place at all unless you want to throw your money away. And your pet still have the same condition if not as when you first walked through the door. The medicine alone had to be painful and torturing to our dog. BEWARE OF WHO THEY REFER YOU TO. About a week after Minnie was gone, they mailed me a thinking of You card and a week after that another one letting me know they had a tree planted in her memory. Back in the end of July 2017 we had to make the hard choice of putting our dog Jongu to sleep. Our current vet was in Manteca but they couldn't do it that day and other places were not able and we could not let our dog suffer another day. We called Lathrop Veterinary Center and they said they were able to do the procedure at 4:30pm so we brought him there. The staff here were amazing. They treated us and our dog with respect. I can tell they all cared. After everything was done they helped us to order my dog's ashes returned. 1 week passed and they called us to pick us his ashes and the box and paw print was beautiful. The staff actually wrote and signed a post card and it made me cry how caring they were. I wanted to write this review weeks ago but I was still grieving from the lose of my family and friend. We adopted a 2 year old dog and brought her here for a check up and when my wife and daughter took video of the vet and our new dog the vet was the same kind woman that helped us before. The facility and the staff here are amazing and we decided after they helped us with our first dog our next pet will have its care here now after 9 years using the Manteca vet.
