They won't give you pricing over the phone. I called veterinarians near me for pricing for a neuter/spay. However this location requires that you schedule an appointment to get pricing. I have to pay over $70 for this appointment, just to find out how much it's going to cost to get my dog fixed. And I have to wait 2 weeks to find out the cost. No thank you. Out of the 6 veterinarians I called riveroak veterinarian in riverbank and Escalon Small Animal Clinic in Escalon had the best pricing. The riverbank location also has laser spading for quick healing. read more

Dr. J has been with us through good and bad times. Ripon Vet in general does all they can to help us. We have two Chocolate Labs and did have two Shih Tzu, but we only have one now . When Wookie (one shih tzu) became super sick they diagnosed him with having issues with his neck/spine then when he passed they were so sympathetic and gentle to us. It was so hard but they made the negative experience of losing our dog into a welcoming positive experience. My Chocolate Lab, Chanel, has had Cancer four times. Mast Cell Tumors. Dr. J has always been there to help me after the surgery procedures. She thoroughly explains what happened and how to take care of Chanel afterwards. She is our rock who loves her clients. I have been coming here for years. I walked in 8 minutes late (calling before because school traffic) they would not see my dog after driving all the way from Manteca. There was about 8 workers standing around and there was another late person that dog was seen but I would have to wait for a hour and half or come back. I took my dog here to get acupuncture for his ivdd and was told I needed to take my dachshund immediately to the emergency vet hospital if I ever wanted him to walk again. My other vet told me I had time but it turned out that he was losing his feeling so time was of the essence. The vet called several emergency vets to make sure I didn't go home without finding one that could take my dog in. I was able to get him admitted that night. oh my gosh this place is amazing! love them- they are all friendly and have great service. their prices are much cheaper than all the other vets I have been to. my cat is 20 plus years old and can't see or hear much anymore. she was having first stages of kidney disease and was put on special food and pills and I am happy to say living a great life once again. Had been going to this location for almost 20 years and 4 dogs total over the years. It was definitely a 5-star at one point but has greatly declined. There are still a couple of Doctors and Nurses that are awesome but recently the ones with whom we've been in contact (clerical staff)- a joke. Took my baby rottie there a couple of weeks ago for an annual checkup, gland expression, and trimming her nails/claws. I also got her six-month supply of heartworm medicine. Total bill was almost $400. Their prices have been overpriced for quite some time, but I called because I have been getting a military discount and it wasn't reflected on this bill. The clerk who was rude, told me that they have never given a military discount. This is totally untrue because in my longevity there I have always gotten a military discount. The clerk proceeded to argue with me about it, so I did not engage her any further to prevent myself from becoming unhinged. Obviously, she did not know what she was talking about. In addition, I was charged almost $30 to trim the claws. I know that they don't trim them down as a sole service like they used to but only if you have an additional reason to visit. But a $10 jump in price for this service from a year ago makes no sense. The last time it was only 20 bucks. This truly is taking price gouging to a whole new level. Veterinary care within itself is already expensive, but to charge high end prices for the subpar service that was received is ridiculous. The gland expression that I paid for, for my dog wasn't even completely done as she was scooting within 24 hours of going there. The last time I took her which was almost 8 months ago it lasted up until the eight months because we have been taking proactive measures at home. Again, if you are looking for a new veterinary service. Please do not use this location. The other reviewers have warned you, but some of those reviews have been quite some time ago. This is a recent review and I can buttress what they have already told you. The great resignation really did a number on the quality of care in many fields of expertise, including this one. It's really sad that they do have, as I mentioned earlier, a couple of doctors and nurses that are outstanding! They know who they are, and I know that one of them in particular will closely identify with my being a long-time customer. But four outstanding employees cannot turn an entire operation around because the powers that be are not customer friendly, but they are money driven. read more

I have been bringing my fur babies here since 2005. Ripon Vet Hospital has been great with the care of my fur babies. I do have a favorite vet, Dr Ann, shes so great with our biting dog, Chowder, but she's so populalr we don't always get to see her. I have to say every doctor that has seen my pet's have also been fantastic with their care. I love that they use altefnitive medicine, a more natural medication also. I remember Dr Debra Daniel's when she was my cat Sophie's Dr. She and all her staff has always been caring and compassionate with our fur babies. I recommend this hospital for all your fur babies needs. read more

disappointed today with ripon Vet. after trying to schedule a appointment for my sick cat I was given a appointment for today. I called and said I'd be 5 minutes late, they said ok they have a 5 minute late cancellation policy. unfortunately I could not find parking b/c the streets where blocked off for the ripon almond festival and I turned down a street with no parking so was 10 minutes late. The front desk person checked with Vet then said No my sick cat could not be seen. are they heartless? I've been taking my cats here for over 10 years. I'm also a doctor and my pts show up late all the time due to parking issues , getting lost, running from work and are still seen if the office is open, they just may have to wait. The office had very qualified vets and if you are lucky enough to be clients then you will be fine. If, however, you are seeking a new vet they will refuse new clients. Especially former clients of vets who have worked at other hospitals previously. They are rude and callous when speaking to potential new clients on the phone. Loretta, the office manager I presume, will only refer to other vets and refuses to let the vets know of previous clients requesting. Such a shame because the two vets I know were such amazing owner advocates at their previous hospital. read more

I live in Ripon, so when my regular veterinary doctor in Manteca was booked, I decided to give this clinic a try based on the reviews. My dog had what appeared to be a large soft cyst on his paw so the vet cleaned it out and didn't find any plant material inside so he went home with antibiotics. other meds and paw soaks. One month later 2 rechecks in between the cyst got larger and I was getting worried. When the vet prescribed an anti inflammatory ointment to be applied, I decided that this would be my last attempt at trying her treatment. Well, one week goes by with no improvement. I return to my regular veterinary hospital in Manteca and they removed a small foxtail! After cleaning it out and going home on different antibiotics and treatment plan, my dog's cyst is much smaller and healing very well! The culprit was found! read more

One thing about living in a small town you have places that look after you in any situation & that's what they did. My cat had a serious health issue to where I had to do an emergency surgery & they took great care of him. They called to keep me updated & called to check up on him when he came home. Dr J and Dr Ann are the vets I mostly dealt with and they were wonderful and the expert knowledge and tender care of my two girl Maltese Poodles were just what we want in our vets. Also, Dr Lindsay Croom was very good. They are reasonable about the costs- I didn't have pet insurance and I don't feel they overcharged me. When the time to put my first baby girl to sleep, Dr J was wonderful and if death can be beautiful she gave my Rosie a peaceful, beautiful death. Calm, peaceful and loving. The second little girl had a rotten death by the hands of Dr Daniels who I believe owns this clinic. After she administered the final shot the horrible shaking and trembling and convulsions were so frightening- I held her and pleaded for help. After a while she died in my arms. So I felt guilty for not waiting for Dr J to help us. She was a wonderful little dog and no way deserved this kind of death from an experienced vet. read more

After having an unsatisfactory was experience at another vegetarian in Tracy I was reluctant to take my pet in. I moved to Manteca and wanted to find someone local. My dog (Pepe) was suffering from an allergy or ear problem. I called EVERY veterinarian in Manteca and tried to find a range of costs for Pepe's issues. After many frustrating calls to places in Manteca I called Ripon Vet. Hospital. I explained Pepe's symptoms and received some probable causes and treatments, as well as a range of costs. They even offered to contact Paws And Claws in Tracy to have them fax over Pepe's history. I made an appointment and had a Pep's exam. We saw Dr. J. She explained his allergy and the benefits of the suggested treatment. She thoroughly explained the different options and benefits of each. Although the treatment I chose was not the least expensive, Pepe has had positive results in three days. Pepe no longer shakes his head or scratches his ears. We also discussed his weight, and drew labs to determine whether it was necessary to continue buying very expensive Rx food for him as was instructed by Paws And Claws. I received a return call from Dr. J. Advising it was not necessary to continue purchasing Rx formula for Pepe. He was on very expensive Rx food to treat crystals in his urine and bladder. Based on the lab results Dr. J made several recommendations for a dog food that was better for his mid life needs, as well as way less expensive. My experience at Ripon Veterinarian Hospital was great. Everything from the first call, the very helpful advice and willingness to explain a range of costs upfront. Before even seeing Pepe! They even tried to have Paws And Claws fax over his records to make the customer experience positive. Unfortunately Paws And Claws doodle hot remember Pepe ir located his prior visit records. We've been at this hospital about 20 times with our 3 year old Poodle (she manages to hurt herself every time). We tried most of the doctors and they are all super friendly, very knowledgeable and were nice to my furry girl (we have a lot of vet clinics to compare). Every time we have an emergency they do their best to fit us in no matter how busy they are. And the prices are really affordable (I'll pay any price for their services though, they are really really good). Don't hesitate to bring your furry one here - they are great!!! read more

After extended research, I finally found an extremely competent Holistic Veterinarian. Far beyond merely excellent! Although the trip takes 2 hours each way if no traffic, no other Vet has the care and competence as does this Vet. She and the entire staff are exemplary in all respects. If you truly value your pet, go here. I would have saved more than $7,000 if I had known about Ripon Veterinary Clinic's competency versus the gross incompetence of all the others. read more

Horrible service, not based off the doctor as we never got to speak to them, but the receptionist. Showed few minutes before office opened up as we believed our dog possibly sprained his foot. The receptionist peaked out the door and said we couldn't be seen as we were considered an emergency. The woman never asked us why we were there in the first place. When we proceeded to explain our pets situation and that we would like to see if the doctor could examine our pet for possible injury, the woman stated she already spoke to the doctor and we would have to go to the emergency clinic. Mind you, the woman never left the door so unlikely that she spoke to the doctor. The woman was extremely rude, inconsiderate and unhelpful. She did not even provide the information for the emergency clinic or apologize. She then quickly shut the door and locked it. read more

I guess I never posted but meant to. We just got a kitten back in September 2019 he was born in July. One morning I woke up and his right eye had some green boogers and he was barely opening it. I thought maybe he got some hair in it but, as a precaution because I know green isn't a great sign I called this vet to see what they recommended. Of course forgetting by law they couldn't necessarily tell me anything without seeing him first. I bring him in for his apt and Dr. Grear is just careful and gentle with him. They had to dilate his eyes and take a light to see if they saw anything bothering his eye. Unfortunately it turned out he needed an entropion surgery to remove excess of the eye inner eye lid that was rubbing his eyes. Sorry forget how to spell it. Turns out we gave antibiotic ointment for his eye to help a little from the lid rubbing it raw but I brought him back because his left eye started gooping up and slightly closing as well.... Turns out he had it in both of his eyes the Veterinarian said he just got the crappy end of the gene pool and it could come back with age. When he first got diagnosed he was only 6months old which is young and it was hard thinking he needed surgery for that at his age. We've told a few friends and neighbors everyone had their own opinion on where to go and that Ripon Vet is expensive was the main opinion but after the exam and talking with the doctor I could tell they care a lot and some vets can be pricy but sometimes it's worth it. We scheduled the appointment after purchasing the kitten package which helped a lot in price as well. We just did everything at once both his eyes got fixed, he got neutered and we got a microchip in place as well. We met with a couple different doctors after the surgery and I forget the name of the doctor who performed the surgery but, Dr. Anne was the final Doctor we met with and we just adore her and her view as well. Our cat hates the vet everytime we walk in he starts growling and hissing but I just love them. They helped so much and were so insightful on the surgery and his breed. Thank you Ripon Vet out little Leo is still crazier than ever but his eyes are wide and the spots rubbed on his eyes are finally fading. Thank you I'd recommend to anyone because you helped us and took care of our Leo even when he was being a butt. read more
