I am new to WA State, needed to find an electrian, and found Compass Electric. I spoke with Rebecca who scheduled an appointment with Matt. Matt came to my home to see exactly what I was requesting, made some suggestions, explained the work involved, provided a quote and coordinated with Rebecca to schedule an appointment for work to begin. Matt let me know ahead of time, that the work will take several hours - an all day project. On the date scheduled, I was notified when Ashley was on her way. Ashley and her team showed up exactly on time and I showed them around. I sat in another room while they got to work. I could hear them discussing the job as it progressed, working together, and sometimes laughing...I could tell they really enjoyed this work. I needed new electrical outlets, one new light switch and a correction to the builder's sloppiness when installing one light switch. Part of the work entailed getting in to the attic and crawl space - a pretty messy job. The work was completed in a shorter time than expected. Ashley and her team were on-time, worked efficiently and cleanly. If I did not see the new outlets, I would never have known they were here. They showed up at my house in the middle of the job demanding thousands of dollars on the spot. We had never received an invoice. I wish I remember the guys' name but it was one of the owners (not Matt). Bobby, our electrician on site, took over for him after this issue because my husband paid in full to this other guy (which he shouldn't have because again, we received zero invoices) which left us in a super tight spot financially (as you can imagine). They started out with tons of guys at our house and then the job lagged leaving us with 2 guys. This took forever to complete and many change orders (costing us $$$) which were things we had previously discussed at the beginning of the job with the bully manager... who hadn't passed it on to Bobby. Furthermore the inspector who came was surprised to learn that we had hired them because he thought we were doing the work ourselves. Not instilling a lot of confidence in their work. It's been a few years, and we are no longer in the home but I stand by my review. I upped one star because of Bobby. His attitude deserves 5 stars because he was great in a horrible situation, but the stars are for the company and it's practices. Also Matt emailed me and accused me of not reviewing his correct company because of my Utah profile, stating he had never had a client named Erin J. I live in WA now, this was for my WA house. And yes this is definitely for the correct company. I gave it 2 years to cool my anger before posting this update. I think the other guys' name was Austin but because it's been so long I can't be sure having only dealt with him twice. The first time he came over to give us the original bid (which was 5,000 below what we ended up paying) and the time he showed up demanding around $10,000. I wish I could have had Matt over. I moved in to a new spec-home and naively thought I paid for working Ethernet ports in all rooms. What I actually got were ports that were non-functioning because the cables were not terminated at the smart panel. There was a mess of wires in the box with no indication as to where they came from. Bobby came out, explained in detail what needed to be done, and followed up with a quote. The work was scheduled and Bobby arrived a couple weeks later to complete the job. He marked and terminated all the cables, got everything to fit nicely in the panel, and cleaned up the mess (which was minimal). Bobby was very friendly, professional, and honest (I was charged much less than the quoted amount when he determined the job was less complicated than he initially thought). I hired Compass Electric to add some security lighting and wire a switch on the inside of my home about four years ago. They charged about a third less than another company I had give an estimate, and I was pleased. Matt was super nice. I don't know what happened when I called today to ask for an estimate on a security camera setup, but their prices seem to have doubled, and Matt was not very helpful, did not want to schedule an estimate, and just wanted to get me off the phone. I have another company coming to give an estimate, someone who was very helpful on the phone. Sorry I bothered you, Matt, it certainly won't happen again. read more

Not to mention they left things everywhere, the work area in complete disarray and heavy furniture in the way of a space I utilize daily. We wanted hard-wired ethernet drops in the bedrooms, alarm system and media room. The modem was in the right place for the modem, but far from the best place for internet drops. This wiring job involved a lot of bilateral attic and crawl space work. Collaboration with this company went on a couple of months, from obtaining an initial estimate through completion of installation of a 35 kW standby generator system for my house and shop. Estimate was completed within 2 weeks of initial contact. Work was completed as soon as the generator was delivered on site, which was the only hold up in an otherwise smoothly coordinated job. A 2-hour power outage since completion of the work validates that the work was done correctly and the system runs flawlessly. We were searching for a competent and responsive electrician for a pesky and elusive circuit troubleshooting project. We also asked for quotes on adding new lighting in my home office and much needed electrical outlets on front & back porch, upstairs deck and on the outside of the garage. Finally, we needed our goat shed connected via wired we had buried last summer in anticipation of this larger project. I looked on Yelp to find Compass Electric. I sent a note via Yelp asking for a quote and had a response within 30 mins. from Dawn at their office. We set a time for an estimate that was handled by Mason. We proceeded with the project and Mason and able apprentice Clay completed the project on schedule and on budget, including the minor change orders we made while in progress. Having done general contracting in my past, we so much appreciated their on-time, no nonsense and professional service. Called Compass Electric to look at a wall outlet that was constantly tripping at a rental property. Compass took a look and talked with the tenant about the devices they were plugging into the outlet. Turns out the tenant was using too many big wattage devices at the same time. Instead of doing unneeded work and charging me for it, the owner of Compass called me explained everything and said no charge!
