However, her affect is somewhat deflated. She doesn't seem very interested in what I report and I feel like she usually makes small tweaks to my medication that haven't really helped. I once sent a somewhat important email to her office staff and asked they pass it along. I never received a response via email. Also, it seems a bit annoying that I have to re-sign consent forms every year, but perhaps there's a law on that I'm not familiar with. I believe since COVID, she only does zoom or phone appointments, rather than in person. I recently saw another psychiatrist that ordered gene sight testing to determine if my medication dosages are appropriate. I had no idea that was an option. Thus, it seems other practices are more advanced in their knowledge of how to treat mental health symptoms. TL, DR: If you're OK with the status quo of your mental health, Dr. Chawla might be able to help. If you're looking for improvement, I'd seek other options.

On multiple occasions I requested that Dr. Chawla call my teenager for appointments, instead of my phone number. And randomly, every few months, she would call my number. This resulted in missed appointments, which i would be charged $100 for. When I challenged the fee, Dr. Chawla and the office staff (most notably Arianna) never took responsibility for their error, let alone correct the error moving forward. The majority of her recent reviews are all rock-bottom 1-stars, and I'm not surprised.

In the past I always received notifications and on this specific appointment that I made after coming back from medical leave of 3 months, they did not send an email reminder. They charged $100 and refused to waive it since they neglected to send the initial notification of the reminder. The appointment was made at the office but I was not given any card stating my next appointment date. I tried emailing them asking for the appointment date/time and no response, yet they still want to charge $100. Horrible customer service and billing. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL.

No really, Kim, thanks for not getting me hooked on benzos instead. Nancy is the chillest woman in the west suburbs, so much so that I often forget the season we're in when I'm out of my clothes and on her table, in a cozy little room with several reminders to forget one's trouble. I don't care about the occasional sound from the outside world, my preoccupations fade, and I generally lose all concept of time and discomfort - physical or mental. She doesn't do the deep tissue thing, so don't call her if you prefer to get beaten a little. She has, however, helped me tremendously with my TMJ issues, back pain, and overall state of relaxation. Generally, I start out on my back, then get a little cranio-sacral work, then flip over for the back attention. I like to go for 90 minutes ($115) when I can, but 60 is great too (only $75). She's got locations in the city too - Hubbard and Damen, I think. So call her if you're looking for a laid-back massage therapist at a nice price.
