I…read morewould see their ads on Facebook and said to myself "that's Impossible" Until one day, I was on the phone with my good friend and she was super excited about her weight loss journey and that I should give it a try. Well I did, and after my 6 weeks challenge, I lost 24 pounds and 3 inches in my waist. It was truly a challenge. I was really discipline and committed. I worked out 5 days a week. I followed the meal plans and I learned a fantastic way to cook my food without oil or butter. Three weeks into the challenge I injured my knee and my doctor advised me to stop and do something less stressful on my knee. I decided to stay the course. My knee is doing better after some needed rest and I am so elated that I did not quit.

All levels are welcomed, everyone was nice and supportive. Meal plan is provided. I lost 3 pounds within the first week and it stayed the same, til i gained it all back the 4th week. Lol. That last week, i literally was at 3 different holiday parties with open bars, so that was my fault :) and i missed about 3/4 days of classes. A woman who started the challenge with me ended up losing 11 pounds. I can say that i didn't strictly stick to the meal plan, i often skipped dinner because i didn't like what was on the menu and didn't drink water as needed... so don't be like me lol. i can only speak for this location-- there are no showers and only 2 bathrooms for women and men. Also no changing rooms, altho you could change in the bathroom. The music was typically the same for each class. I would have preferred less of a rap mix and more 90s/2000 music, reggae, and/ or something to keep the classes moving and enjoyable to the ear. I would def. do another challenge in the near future!! Plenty of parking in front of the location. No water fountain per se (that you can bend over to drink), but bring a water bottle to be able to fill it up there. I think they also had $1 water bottles for sale in case you forgot to bring your own. You can weigh yourself at anytime with their scale. Be on facebook lookout, as they always have some kind of special / promotion for classes.

Often I hear from the stronger, fit members "you can do it" or "good job" or other words of encouragement. The fellow bootcampers are friendly and welcoming. Jacob organizes "challenges" sometimes you are working with a partner to encourage each other and other times. They last for about one month. Lots of fun and heathy prizes. The morning class is at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. We work out there all year round, sometimes on their deck overlooking the bay or on the beach or on rainy days under their building. I am not in shape but attending GroupFit I am getting there! If I miss a couple of classes Jacob checks in with me to ask "where you are and when are coming back?" There are all levels at the bootcamp and there is no embarrassment or shame if you are using 5 pound weights and the person next to you is using 25 pound weights. One negative- we have to do burpees during the workout but I am learning to do them well and I am getting into shape!

So i decided to join her one day as her plus one. First off, know that you have to drive all the way to the back of the plaza to find it. But there's plenty of parking. The studio is run by two nice trainers: Sally and Jordan. They are very open and all about helping you. They tell you their story and listen to yours. It's all about setting goals and appreciating the little accomplishments. First thing when you walk in is that it's one big room. Not little alcoves here and there. Just a huge mat for you to get sweaty on. I did notice there's not one mirror- which is quite interesting. There is complementary child care and very nice locker rooms. They are like to do one on one meetings to check in with you every other week. Their hours are a bit wonky so check the class schedule each week before coming in. But what I like most about this place is that if you can't do a conventional push up, they find another way to get your body to work the same muscles. My advice? Come try it out!

I scheduled a self-care day for my birthday. I paid the full $360 through PayPal on July 27, 2026, using the payment option provided through the Reinvent U website. Everything had been discussed and arranged with Ms. Frances, and my appointment was scheduled for August 15. The Friday before my appointment, I received a reminder that showed an amount due. Since I knew I had already paid in full, I immediately sent a screenshot of my PayPal payment. At 6:00 PM, and again at 9:42 PM, I received an email from Ms. Frances telling me to "cancel that payment" because they no longer had access to that account. I was confused and concerned. I had used the payment option that was provided to me through their website. I called. I emailed. I left a voicemail asking her to return my call as early as she could because I understood she was busy. No response. I still got myself together and showed up for my appointment Saturday because, at that point, I had no idea what was actually happening. When I arrived, a very kind young woman at the front tried her best to help me. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about her. I waited approximately 40 minutes while Ms. Frances was with a client. Again, I understood that she was busy. But if you already knew there was an issue with my payment and my appointment, why wouldn't you make time to at least come to the front when I arrived and try to work through the issue with me? Instead, I was left standing there for approximately 40 minutes trying to figure out what was going on. And again, I want to be very clear: I was not upset with the young women at the front. They were doing what they could to help me, and one of them was especially kind and tried her best to de-escalate the situation. When Frances finally came out, she walked up to me and said, "Talk to me," while dismissing the two young women who had been trying to assist me. I explained the situation again. Her response was exactly, "Don't you see what's going on here? We are moving." I was honestly dumbfounded. Moving may explain what was happening behind the scenes, but it does not explain the lack of communication with a customer who had already paid in full $360. She then pulled up PayPal to show me that she didn't see a payment. I explained that the payment had been made on July 27th -- not the day before. Her response? "Oh." I told her that I had explained all of this in the emails I had sent. She responded, "I haven't read any of them." At that point, I was doing everything I could to keep my composure. Then came, "But a little $360 ain't worth all this." Maybe $360 isn't a big deal to some people. It was to me. More importantly, this was my birthday self-care day that I had planned and paid for in advance. Ultimately, she asked where she could send my money. I said Cash App, and she refunded me immediately. I withdrew the money immediately because, after everything that had happened, I no longer felt comfortable moving forward. And I know someone will say, "But you got your money back, so what's the big deal?" The money isn't the whole point. The point is how I was treated. I am a customer. I supported your business. I paid in full. When there was an issue with the payment, I provided proof, called, emailed, left a voicemail, and still showed up willing to work things out. I didn't expect perfection. I expected communication, professionalism, and basic kindness. We are all human. Businesses have things happen. Businesses move, systems change, accounts get lost, mistakes happen. I can understand all of that. What I cannot understand is making someone who has already done everything they were supposed to do feel like THEY are the problem for asking questions about their money and their appointment. Wherever life takes us, I believe we have to remember to stay humble and, at the very least, be kind to the people who choose to support us. I got my $360 back. And 2 days later I got an BS apology via email with a video of herself showing her new studio space, hoping that I will come back once they have moved and she will give me a whole $20 off my little $360... But I also got something else: a very clear understanding that this is not a business I feel comfortable supporting again. And sometimes that's the part that matters most. AND IN THE EVENT THAT I NEED TO I CAN AND WILL ATTACH THE AUDIO, VIDEO AND EMAIL THREAD...

That was over a year ago and I'm still 20 lbs lighter than when I started - AND my last physical has me still in great health! Working with Grant was a life changing experience for me. His kind nature and genuine care for his clients is evident in how he advises and trains each individual. It wasn't just me! I've had a half dozen friends work with Grant after watching my transformation and the chain keeps growing - Love it :)

If you're looking to get harder,…read morebetter, faster, stronger in the most efficient and functional way possible - MyBootcamp is it. I first met Grant at his indoor cycling classes at Revolve, and his rides were and always are mentally and physically tough. I had started to build up my endurance and strength through cycling, but the thought of trying out MyBootcamp was still intimidating. I mean, c'mon - I saw pictures of MyBootcampers pulling tires, slamming firehoses, and tossing sandbags. I thought I wouldn't survive my first session last March, but afterward I actually felt like a complete badass. I whipped that firehose and learned how to properly do kettlebell swings, among other things. Plus I was the only girl there (thanks Matteo, Rob, and Neal for letting me kick your butts that day :). (Side note: most sessions are filled with fit, athletic and attractive ladies, so all the single men in DC should definitely sign up... just sayin' ;) ) Four months later and I'm incredibly proud of how strong I've become because of MyBootcamp. Grant and Chris have taught me how to really push myself mentally and physically. They know exactly when and how to push me to get past my comfort zone, and because of that, my endurance/strength/mobility levels are at the highest they've ever been. Now I'm addicted to improving those levels with each workout, and my two favorite "Grant-isms" that stick with me every time are 1) There is never perfection, only progress; and 2) Being strong is only good if it's actually useful. Other things that I love about MyBootcamp? I love that the workouts are outdoors; I love the camaraderie; I love the new mobile app which makes managing your MyBootcamp addiction even easier; and most importantly, I love how much Grant and his team care about you. Thank you, Grant and the MyBootcamp team - I couldn't be more thankful.
