But what I'm impressed about above and beyond great car repairs, is the willingness of this team to make me feel comfortable with my new to me car which they didn't have to do. The good news is that the name remains the same, and Tom and his mechanics continue to service autos as before. This shop was bought recently! I brought my car in for an AC issue. I clearly explained to Zach that the AC blows cold air for about 10-15 minutes after starting the car, then switches to hot air while driving. That's a specific symptom. I trusted them to listen and assess it properly. Instead, they called me and said the Freon was "halfway full," which might mean a leak. They said they'd install new valves and inject dye to check for leaks. Fine. I agreed. Then they called back and said they saw no dye. So... no leak, right? Not only that there was no leak that they saw before they even did anything or touched the car they just assumed! But anyways that should've been the end of it. But no. My boyfriend picked up the car, and within FIVE MINUTES of driving, the AC was blowing hot air again. Clearly, they didn't test drive it. Clearly, they didn't verify if the issue was resolved. That alone is unacceptable. I brought the car back. I showed a mechanic the AC wasn't blowing cold. He felt the air, popped the hood, and immediately said, "It's probably the compressor." Just like that. No diagnostics. No testing. Just a guess. I left the car again. An hour later, they called and said it's the compressor and now it's $900. Excuse me? Why wasn't this mentioned in the first place? Why wasn't a full diagnostic done before charging me for Freon and valves? If I had known it was the compressor, I could've gotten quotes elsewhere to make my decision. But they didn't give me that chance. They piecemealed the problem, charged me for absolutely NOTHING, and then dropped a $900 bomb after the fact. Let's talk about the Freon. I asked for proof that it was low. They had NONE. No before-and-after photos. No data from their $10,000 machine. Apparently, this fancy machine doesn't even keep a history log. So I have zero proof that Freon was ever low or even added. That's shady. Then they tried to take ALL the Freon out of my car when I asked for a refund. I told them, "If it was halfway full, leave half in." They said they couldn't do that. So I told them to suck it out and put half back in. They charged me $105 for that five-minute task. I got a partial refund of $237, but I'm still out $105 for something THAT TOOK 5 mins! and have no proof that my car was even low of Freon. I'm 25 years old. I didn't know much about AC systems, and I trusted their word. But after doing my own research, I learned that if the AC blows cold and then hot, it's likely NOT a Freon issue. It's something deeper--like the compressor. They should've known that. They should've told me that. Instead, they took advantage of my trust and lack of technical knowledge. This shop is untrustworthy, unprofessional, and underhanded. I'm speaking with lawyers to see what can be done. The way they treated me was awful. And don't be fooled by the good reviews--they're from the previous owner. This place is under new management now, and it shows. They don't test your car. They don't assess the full issue. They just guess, charge you, and send you on your way. Then when it doesn't work, they hit you with another bill. It's a scam. Avoid Tom's Auto Shop at ALL costs. Protect your money, your car, and your sanity.

We called to make the appointment and spoke with Morgan, who was very friendly and got us in the same day. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions and told us up front what we were looking at spending and what needed repairs. What blew me away was that he told us what DIDN'T need to be repaired also. I don't think I've ever heard a mechanic shop say this EVER. He was totally honest and let us know that most places will tell you that you need to fix X, Y, & Z, but that he's more concerned about keeping his clients by being honest than to get rich off of them. We asked about our 30k mile tune up that's coming due and he's actually the cheapest we've ever been quoted for! During our tune up, we sat in a very cozy waiting area with a TV(and remote that we had control over!), a fridge with water, and a keurig machine with an assortment of coffees. While waiting, a sales rep selling motor oil came in and tried to sell him on a more expensive oil that he could make more money off of, and he turned them down because it will cost his clients more than necessary in the long run. Over all it took about 45 minutes from the time we walked in until we were handed back our keys. Unlike most mechanic shops, we didn't leave feeling like we had been taken. We left excited to tell everyone about our new find!

I called to see when they were open and a super friendly voice belonging to a Mechanical angel named Morgan answered. I made an appointment to get my oil changed and when I made the drive across town (Because I live in Winter Garden) I was not expecting anything beyond what I have experienced at any other Mechanic. If there is a waiting room it normally consists of a hot room with a small fan, a couple of folding chairs, and coffee that's so old it has started its own ecosystem growing in the pot. That was not the case here. It was more like a small living room in one of those "My 600 sq-ft homes" from Ikea. Nice, comfy chairs, fridge full of water, instant coffee maker with all the fixin's and a flat screen TV with cable to pass the time while Morgan and his mechanic are out in the hot garage being angels. As I sat there peacefully watching TCM he came in periodically updating me on my car and asking me questions about it. He did bring me out to show me that one of my tires was about to blow and he wanted to put my spare on so I wouldn't die on the way home. I was embarrassed about the state of my car and all the crap I had in so I offered to help dig out the spare and they were so nonjudgmental on the outside, even though they probably were on the inside but I cant blame them because I judge myself daily. I did give them a case of vintage coke as a thank you and that's one less thing in my car. In the end he gave me an estimate of the things I needed to get fixed but didn't pressure me into buying them right then and there since I'm poorer than a church mouse at the moment but once I do have the money I will be back to get those things fixed because I have never felt more at home in an auto shop.
