UPDATE AT BOTTOM I should have given one star before. I found out that they installed the wrong size brake pads on my Jeep! These had to be replaced at my expense for this reason: These guys also broke my driver's side seat. They didn't push back the seat before getting in the car and essentially smashed the heating element down inside the seat back! It took me a minute to figure out what was going on with it. When I informed them, they were basically like, yeah, we don't do that here. But didn't offer, in any way, to make good on the damage! Mind you, I've had my Jeep serviced here before. But little did I know, the nice smiles don't hold up with the actual work. When I went in to ask them to fix the brakes, they were so rude and dismissive that I ended up taking my Jeep somewhere else. Nice in the beginning. Really bad customoer service when they do something wrong. So much for community. So much for being an honest mom and pop that I was trying to support. Avoid them, if you can. But it's hard to avoid car mechanics. They have all the power...and these guys know it. AVOID IF YOU CAN. UPDATE: YOU SEE THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT GOOD REVIEWS. Dropped the vehicle off last night as the brakes needed replacing. At noon received a text that they had an estimate for me and was advised the rear rotors needed replacing and had a dry serpentine belt. I am so thankful they noticed the belt as a previous garage didn't. They were able to finish the repairs today, even though they had to contact three suppliers to find the parts. They finished the work by 4:30. The team was courteous and provided great communication. I will bring my car here for the next repair. read more

I was trying to find a good/average local shop without this feeling of being ripped off every time you get the final invoice. Reviews seemed legit so I gave it a try. Don't give me wrong, tech guys work very well and I am very happy with what they did, but I still have this feeling of overpaying way too much when leaving (which I really hate). I am not a tech person and I can only believe what is told to me, especially when they find more issues than what was expected and that they knew I needed my car fixed. My point is, I never felt that feeling of confidence/don't want to rip the customer off... Okay. So. Here's the deal. I am a laughably poor student and flight attendant. My car decided it wanted to make it just past the employee parking lot at MCO and then become a useless pile of metal and frustration. I am brand new to Orlando, and had no idea what to do. For context, every car issue I've ever had in the past, I just frantically call my dad back in Tennessee, cry for a minute, and then get it to him to fix with prayers and well wishes so it can be his problem. It's about the same way I do my taxes every year. But I digress. So my car broke down in a terrible spot. The Orlando police came and helped me get it to a location that wouldn't result in carnal wreckage from an overly enthusiastic gate agent just trying to get home around a blind corner at the airport. I had to figure out where I was going to take it, with no context and no parental guidance. I say all this to say, it was not a good day and if I could have yelled at anyone in customer service, I would have. Wrench connection had good reviews, sure, but I called a pilot friend of mine. I mean, if he knows airplanes, he can probably direct me to some sound gents who can fix my car. It's about the only advice one should take from a pilot, but that's neither here nor there (just trust me on this one). Anyway, I spoke both to a Ricky and a Roger. They heard my plight of desperate ignorance when it came to my sad Kia, and said bring it in. They even recommended a towing place that I loved. Not only was my tow driver colorful and hilarious, but he also charged $50 less than anyone else I'd called for comparison. He also veiled his disdain for my complete ineptitude when it comes to motor vehicles. What else could you want in a wrecker? Wrench Connection was sweet to me. I'm a single, poor, desperate human that just needed to get to work. They didn't replace everything they could have (because let's be honest. It's a Kia. There's roughly a butt load of things wrong with that car and has been since I drove it off the lot 7 years ago), labor was very reasonable, and they didn't judge how FILTHY the interior was. Seriously, there were enough piled Mountain Dew bottles to make you question my sanity and gainful employment. Had I known I'd break down, I would have at least thrown some of that shameful display away. I recommend this place to anyone. They were quick, kind, affordable, and non judgmental. Great mechanic shop recommended to me by a friend. I found that they tell it like it is and will show you problems in your car so you understand your options. Very fair pricing and most importantly safety first. The only down side was that I waited almost 20 minutes as the only person in their lobby before being helped. It turns out the only mechanic I saw in the shop was pretty new. After about 7 minutes he stopped in the office and said someone would be with me, but I never saw him go to tell anyone, he just went back to work. Had it not been for my friends strong recommendation, I would have left after 10 minutes, It was worth the wait, but if it were to happen again, I'm not sure I would return. read more

I was having trouble reaching my normal VW mechanic and bumped into The Wrench Connection on Google. I called and asked if they service VWs because a lot of mechanic shops will say they do, but they really don't (European cars can be finicky.) I was hearing a hard "thump" when up-shifting and down-shifting when the engine was cold. My VW mechanic told me that my Betsy had maybe another 6 months of life and it was time to let Betsy go. I've known him for a number of years, and he has over 12 years working with VWs and high end European cars, and have never had any problems in the past and I trust him. I kept telling him I didn't think Betsy was ready to be put down yet; I tried to accept that she was in Hospice but just couldn't do it. So I decided to have a fresh set of eyes look at Betsy before buying something new and I am glad I did. First off, Ricky explained what the problem could be and how the parts and pieces all fit together. While I didn't understand everything he said, I'd estimate I understood 90% of what he said because I grew up working on cars with my step father--I've done break jobs, replaced alternators, oil changes, changed tires, plugged tires., etc. (Sad to say, a lot of places see a lady walk in and think "cha ching" as they try and sell you headlight fluid and imported air for you bucket seats. I actually had another mechanic shop -- down the street from TWC -- tell me my speedometer wasn't working and they needed to pull my dashboard out of the car to fix it. UGH... it was a $40 sensor on the tranny. I won't even get into him writing POS on my paperwork--yes he wrote "POS" on the receipt and gave it to me. Needless to say, I had choice words for him and Yelp reviews.) Annnnyyyywaaayyyyy.... the guys at TWC were able to duplicate my problem right away. It didn't take long for them to find the problem and fix it. Long story short, Betsy's tranny was 3 1/2 quarts low, pan was dented (not enough to cause performance issues,) and the screws for the pan were lose--hence the low fluid.They topped off the fluid, washed everything off, took Betsy for another test drive, no bumps, no tranny spinning sound, etc., and she's a happy girl again. Betsy still has minor 'normal' problems that were not my concern at that time, but Betsy's an 18 1/2 year old car--she's going to have oil leaks and such. I run Betsy very hard, she has over 208K miles on her (and that's with her sitting idle for a year.) First thing I did was to put her on the road headed up to north FL to see my family--another 300 miles. Don't know if I'll every be truly "ready" to let Betsy go... she saved my life about 10 years ago. I was side swiped on I-4 by a construction dump truck at 60 mph; the impact spun me and I clipped two cars, and believe it or not, I walked away from the accident (needed to change my undies--but I walked away.) Betsy was in the shop for a while for repairs, but needless to say, I love my old girl. I can't explain how happy I am with the service received at TWC because 1) the price I paid to have the problems fixed was more than fair, 2) I saved $35K and 3) I still have my Betsy. Thanks guys!!! I'm having transmission issues on my 2010 Pathfinder and the dealer wants to charge me $500 to replace lines/hoses and a flush. I called The Wrench Connection for a 2nd opinion based on their good reviews. I haven't even taken the vehicle to them yet and I can tell you I love this place already. I mentioned I can do some basic mechanical myself and Rick asked a bunch of questions and gave me advice on what i can check before bringing it in. He even looked up the Nissan oil part number so I can try adding more before bringing it in.
