In my case, a faulty water heater needing to be replaced. The Good: incredibly responsive, tried to troubleshoot over the phone and worked to visit the immediate next day. The (Real) Bad: they price gouged me in a time of peril. Unacceptable. Knowing I was up against the ropes, they charged me what was nearly 3.5 times a normal charge for a water heater replacement! I asked for them to be more accommodating on the quote but came back with 'nothing we can do'. I guess they assumed I'd pay that exorbinant price. I didn't. I got quotes from two other responsive plumbers which proved Plumbing Department was attempting to gouge me. I'm glad I went elsewhere. It's a shame they have such speedy, friendly initial support, but followed it with egregious quotes. Hope they can do better in the future. UPDATE: spoke with owner, Jeff, to discuss the experience. I was treated like I was incompetent, that the work needed doing immediately by yourselves. When I got someone else out to look i explained I had another service guy out and what it was he said I needed and he said this was not a necessity but very common for companies to try and upsel on because the general customer wont know what it is. Needing a plumber is never pleasant. Needing a plumber because your basement backed up with sewage…read moreis about as unpleasant as it gets; however, Tim from ActionPro made it as easy as possible. He was recommended to me and I first called him to fix my kitchen sink and replace the leaking faucet. I called on a Sunday, he came out Monday on time and was done in under an hour for a reasonable rate. The next night, Chicago had some torrential rains that caused us to get sewer water and actual solid sewage in the basement. I called him and he came out the next day. He actually said he could come that night but I wasn't going to be home till late. He rodded the main line and catch basin and everything was flowing just fine when he left. That same evening we had another flash flood, and the basement started backing up again (infuriating)...We called and he came back out at 10 o' clock at night on his way back from another job and did not charge because he had just been there! He flushed everything back out the main line and we have not had a problem since. It is very reassuring to deal with someone who is so responsive, and stands by his work. He calls back quickly, he's flexible, will come out evenings and weekends, and he's honest. You can hire him knowing that he's not going to screw you, even if he has to come back out if something goes wrong. Another thing that is good to know for anyone who is looking at major, expensive plumbing repairs (like install new copper lines for X thousands of dollars...) he can take a credit card for big jobs.
