Annamaria's Zumba class at Complete Body Midtown East is hands down one of the most fun and high energy workouts I've ever taken. The moment the music starts, her energy completely transforms the room and instantly boosts everyone's mood. I started going every Thursday leading up to my wedding, and it quickly became the best part of my week. It helped me release so much wedding planning stress in the most fun way. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I left feeling lighter, happier, and more like myself again. And even after the wedding, I'm still going. That says everything. Her choreography is creative and perfectly synced to the music. The routines are challenging enough to make you sweat, but still easy to follow so you can truly enjoy yourself and let go. You can tell she puts real thought and effort into every single class. What really sets her apart is how motivating and uplifting she is. She creates such a welcoming environment and makes everyone feel confident, no matter their experience level. You walk out feeling accomplished, energized, and already excited for the next class. This review is a long time coming. The staff is terrific. The gym is very clean. It's an older facility and very dated. The majority of the clientele is very old and cranky. Most of the equipment is old, machines like the treadmills and stationary bikes don't fully work and neither does the TVs above them. The upside, it's local, affordable and never busy so you can be in and out. Getting pool time is hyper competitive and members squat on times and you need to sit on the app to get a time. What makes this place work is staff of terrific people that make the place run. Always friendly. Always helpful. They get more than five stars any day of the week. read more

I can't speak to the quality of the classes, pool, or machines, as I only went to this gym for a tour, but here are my thoughts. Pros: Quiet gym, doesn't seem to get too crowded per what one of the employees Jennique told me Sauna, saltwater pool, roofdeck, spa (unsure if active due to Covid) Outdoor and indoor spin studios Excluding the sale ending tomorrow, membership is like $115 a year, not including the annual fee and enrollment fee, which I think is pretty fair considering the amenities Friendly employees and gym goers from what I saw Cons: A lot of older people (only a con if you're young and want to be around people of a similar age) Booking slots for the pool can be competitive Juice bar out of service due to Covid No towel service due to Covid Machines and facilities are nice overall, but the locker room and showers are dark and a little depressing. Could use some updating for sure. They don't have an app specific to the gym- you book classes using a QR code that I think you can once and then it stays in your phone but not sure. I was a guest of a member and took Sam's water aerobics class. The energy in this class was fantastic! Sam kept us moving for 45 minutes, and if you can sweat in a pool, that's what I did! However, Sam reiterates during the class of mixed age attendees, that you can exercise at a level 1, level 2 or all out at level 3. Robert gives excellent customer friendly service to all, and he shows both starting and advanced versions of positions so that we can all participate equally. Thank you, Robert. 2) Swimming Pool Aquatics class - Sam S. puts the aerobics into aqua-aerobics. He is an experienced aqua-aerobics instructor who brings a variety of moves into his uptempo class. Sam's class is a vigorous workout, but it is still easy enough for senior citizens like myself to keep up the pace. I highly recommend his low impact, low stress Aquatics class at Complete Body, Midtown East, NY, and the saltwater pool (low/no chlorine) is an added health bonus. Plus, Mgr. This gym is awesome! First off, a POOL? In midtown?! I love that I can get a wide range of workout in from swimming to Pilates to weightlifting done at CB. Not to mention all the classes they host & fitness groups they can put you in contact with (PT, trainers, stretch lab). The atmosphere is chill & the staff are super friendly. I joined about a month ago and the process was incredibly easy. Roberto was great and gave me a few day passes to try out the gym before I committed. It's quiet, NEVER packed (which is huge for me) and everyone has been welcoming. Front desk staff - really nice and helpful, always greeting me with a smile. You have all the equipment you need, plus a pool, sauna, and fitness classes. My only "con" is what many past reviews have pointed out - the locker rooms could use a facelift. Some people might not find the aesthetics or the typical crowd appealing, but it hasn't been an issue for me. If Yelp allowed for a 4.5 option, that would've been my true rating - but I don't think the areas of improvement warrant losing an entire star. read more

CompleteBody is my unicorn of a gym: close enough to both my office and home that I'll actually go and convenient to several trains and the Roosevelt Island Tram combined with dance-based classes included in the membership and a pool! Everything looked great on paper, but what really sold the gym to me was chatting with Roberto over email and then in person. This is a small but underrated gym chain that has everything you could look for! I have flexibility to use all four locations in Manhattan, and the classes are great. Danielle in Zumba classes is the best instructor there is. The staff is very helpful, especially Roberto Porras in the Midtown East location, and they are always open to feedback and are flexible to listen to switch around class schedules. This gym also offers the service to freeze my membership, which I love bc I constantly travel for work. Very recommended!! read more

Pov: I am a woman in her 20s who has been going to gyms since I was 15. I know what I'm doing (kinda), but hate the kind of gyms where everyone is checking people out to see if they're lifting heavier or whatever. This gym has everything you need. Has all the free weights you'll need and all the typical machines. Has a pool and a studio and plenty of cardio. If you don't care about what soap your gym carries and care about not waiting for a squat rack, at this price I genuinely think you can't beat this gym. It doesn't compete with equinox for amenities but in terms of getting in an awesome workout it's the same and at like a 1/3 of the cost. It doesn't have those super niche machines that you see at huge gyms (I personally would LOVE a hip thrust machine) but has everything you need for a workout. I will say there are A LOT of personal training sessions so this seems like a great gym if you want that. I don't use them; but have a friendly nod "hello" relationship with the ones training during the times I go. Staff here is so friendly, every single one. Genuine people, genuinely friendly, and not intimidating at all. Can't underscore how important that factor is! Really not a bro-y gym influencer community, just people wanting to better themselves. It's a smaller gym so you'll get people staring at times, but I think that happens at most gyms that are on the smaller side (only so many places to look!) read more

Eddy is a fantastic swim instructor!! Our child is fearful of the water. Eddy knows how to get her into the water and has established trust with her and is helping her build her confidence. He has a calming voice, very patient, relates well to young children, and makes swim lessons fun!! He uses great techniques , such as "ballerina toes in the water" and "flat like a pancake ". Any child would be truly lucky to take lessons with Eddy!! read more

I hate to write a bad review, but in this case I'm hoping to spare others the headache. The gym itself is nice, but billing is a nightmare. I've been back and forth with JoAnn so many times trying to cancel my membership, and she has admitted to sending me incorrect information on a few occasions. I was just charged again, even though my membership has officially ended, and when I called the gym, JoAnn was out of office and apparently no one else is able to help me, so I am waiting for her to return to get my money back. read more

I was on the first day trial but it was HORRIBLE experience with HORRIBLE customer service. Watch out for DISCRIMINATION! I got interested in the gym because of the pool and it's close to my office. Roberto the assistant manager was nice and helped me booked a lap swim slot. Then I got there for the swim but my appointment was not in their system. I showed the email with communication between Roberto and me as well as the confirmation for the swim slot. The receptionist Jackie was also nice and let me in for the swim slot. She told me to tell the safeguard that she let me into the pool. So I told the safeguard girl that and she just asked for my appointment time and direct me to lane 1 (I expected she would've asked more but I guess maybe there had been communication while I was in the shower). 5min later a guy came in swim brief and kept staring angrily at me while I was in the pool and then talked to the safeguard girl. I saw they both were in confusion so I told them the full story again thinking it would help them resolve the confusion. The girl then asked me to move to lane 4. I was okay with that because I don't see any difference between lanes (I'm not sure why the guy insisted in getting lane 1). Personally, I feel if the girl asked for my name and direct me to the right lane at the beginning, the issue would not happen. The guy thanked the girl but still looked at me angrily (the girl didn't show any appreciation either. It seems they think I'm the problem, not helping the problem). I was bothered by that but thought he might still misunderstand something so I walked over to him and politely asked if I could talk to him a bit. He replied coldly "There is nothing to talk". I just kept going "Why am I the one giving up the lane for you but you only thanked the girl but not me?". He replied "IT'S MINE". I saw he didn't want to communicate so I turned over to the girl and asked for her opinion (she heard the convo because she was right next), but instead of trying to deescalate, she carelessly replied ".....It's up to him who he wanna thank......and HE'S PAYING THE MONTHLY FEE SO THAT LANE IS HIS......" I confirmed the problem was not about misunderstanding but the problem was neither of them wanted to talk and also their discrimination of me not yet paying the fee (cz I was on my trial). I think misunderstanding between members could happen in a shared environment but it is very important how staff can resolve the conflict instead of escalating it (or disrespecting/discriminating one over another). With such attitude, issues could keep happening so I would never want to go back. I hope the manager would address it properly so others won't have to experience such thing like I did. read more
