In five years, I've had several shoe repairs, a leather pocketbook repair, and some miscellaneous repairs that required heavy-duty sewing. All were done excellently, and at a very reasonable price. (Sam charges before the repair, so there's no surprise high cost). Once I went in to have a shoe stretched to have room for a bandaged toe, and he said that the shoe material would spring back within a couple days. So he recommended instead, that I remove the thick inner pad until the bandage came off; he cut a thin leather to replace it, at very low charge. Another visit, I was second in line when a lady came in to pick up a glossy red shoe that had been severely scuffed. Sam had matched the color perfectly, but no one could have restored the full gloss where it flexed. But the lady was not satisfied. So Sam refunded her money completely, despite having done a couple hours' work. He is competent, helpful, and ethical. That's the way he does business. read more

My favorite Ugg boots tore along the back, took them to a cobbler in Salem, he used a suede strip of the same color, which blended in great and looked almost factory perfect. The price was a bit high but it was worth it, the turn around was a bit over a week which I thought was not bad since I won't be wearing them for several more weeks. Plenty of parking. I have a pair of shoes that I need repaired in time for a formal event. I went to the shop around 10:30 today, Google said they were open. Well the front door was locked and there was a sign on the door of the unit saying "Closed". I got in my car and drove to my next destination and called the shop. Gentleman answered and assured me they were open and he had been there when I went. That struck me as strange because everything was dark and locked up tight. So later today I had my husband drive me back. This was around 4:45 - the man on the phone earlier said they were open until 5:30. Well... the front door to the building was open this time but the shop was still locked with a closed sign. I called, and could hear the phone ringing but nobody picked up. I noticed another door to the right, and I thought maybe that was the entrance so I opened it and... saw a man laying on a couch, his arms crossed across his chest! I was so alarmed i shut the door, and called again. Again I could hear the phone ringing but nobody picked up. Now I'm worried about the random man I saw; hopefully he was just a deep sleeper? Anyway, a very frustrating experience and a total waste of my time. I wound up going to Walmart for some fabric glue and will try to fix my shoes myself, I guess. Brought a couple pairs of shoes for heel repair. Both times, he did a great job! Prices varied between the two, and I am not sure why, but both times I have been happy with the repair! :) I did bring in my cowboy boots, and that would cost a lot more for repair as I need the whole bottom leather to be replaced, but I chickened out. or more like I have sentiment with the boots since they were a gift from my husband years ago. So, I am keeping it the original. Maybe a restoration at it's 10 years anniversary :) I'm bringing in my husband's dressy shoes in later to get the bottom repaired. They man who runs this shop is lovely. I live down in Boston so I'm used to big city prices and attitude. What a breath of fresh air to meet someone who loves what he does and does it well. The prices were quite reasonable. I had multiple pairs of boots that needed to be re-heeled right in the middle of the busy season before Thanksgiving. He made sure to get them down two days before I left. He even through in a discount when they weren't done right at noon. I would happily go back and did. I have a boot zipper being replaced for cheaper than I'd normally find. He was good about moving the pick up day up when I told him my flight took off the morning after his original quoted day. He was able to repair the belt buckle on my favorite belt so it looks like new. Additionally, when I went to purchase a pair of laces with a card, he told me there's a $15 minimum and to just pay him in cash next time I'm in the area. 7/11 does cash back so I just ran next door and grabbed the $5. I have a pair of older Herman Survivor boots that I purchased in the 1990s. The Vibram Soles had dried out, ripped, and separated from the boots. These are very well made boots with a lot of wear left in them so I decided to have them repaired. I've used the services of other cobblers a couple of times in the past and never been very satisfied but I decided to try again. I took the boots to Completely Heeled and Sam not only re-soled them but polished them and added new laces. These boots look almost like new and I expect will last many more years. My wife and I have been searching for someone good for a long time. This is a lost art. The owner is extremely kind and clearly knows his business. I brought in three boots (one pair was my wife's and the other two were mine). He looked over each pair and talked about what he will do and ensured that is what I wanted. My wife's needed extensive work, including new heels, re-glueing of the sole and general clean up. The boots are 20 years old. They look brand new! Wow! Loved this place!! I brought in a well loved and "squishy" leather shoulder bag to be repaired. I wasn't sure it was possible. I was so pleased to find this cobbler right in Salem, NH! Small, owner run business... very friendly and reasonable prices... I brought in a pair of leather boots...he put complete new heels and soles on as well as stitched a spot where the leather was pulling away from the sole. ($30) They look brand new! I also brought in a leather coat with a broken zipper... he had to pretty much pull apart the coat to get out the old zipper and then stitched in a new one. I went in with a zipper that wouldn't zip on my boots and he showed me a trick - using candle wax and a hairdryer. It worked- I told him I felt like I should pay him for the knowledge. Brought in a pair of men's high--top sneakers to get the pull-tab on the back of the show re-stitched. Picked them up this morning-worst sewing job I have ever seen. Very crooked sewing lines and not over the existing stitch lines. When you sew leather it leaves holes, so now there are more than one row of holes. Looks like a little kid did it.
