EDIT: The owner, Larry, just called me and threatened to retaliate to my employer and on social media if I don't take down this review. I saved the voice-mail in case I need to take legal action. EDIT 2: The creep found me on Facebook and started commenting on my photos, now saying he wants to charge me more for things he did for me as "favors" ... which makes no sense Do not bring your computer here for a diagnostic. It took MONTHS to get my computer back, and it didn't work. Larry told me the tech quit, but my ticket wasn't reassigned, so my PC sat untouched for most of that time. They replaced the power supply, but the graphics card was dead too. I brought it back in, they said they could send it to "a buddy's company that repairs graphics cards." I should have said no. They had the graphics card for 4 months and did not fix it, did not send it out. No updates. I finally picked it back up today, broken. Meanwhile I had to purchase another graphics card because who can be without their computer that long? I have made maybe 50 calls over 6 months, no exaggeration. They always promise to look into it and call me back later that day, but they never, ever call or text back. So I had to keep calling. I really wanted to support a local business, but this became a super frustrating time sink. read more

Computer House may be under new management, or (more likely), all of the 5 star reviews are bots. Don't go here. Took them 2 weeks to tell me they couldn't fix my computer. Tried to pick my still broken computer up twice during business hours and they were closed. Girlfriend who answers the phone is rude and unhelpful. Larry Lamont, the manager?, doesn't follow through with anything he says. Left them with my charger and they still haven't returned it, despite several calls and being told they'd deliver it to me. I never write reviews and this experience led me to write one. We wanted a screen replacement for a laptop. It took a month of constant calling to get them to work on it and a week after we got it back the entire laptop just shut off and wouldn't charge. The owner said he wouldn't reimburse us or do anything to remedy the situation after the fact, he just hung up on us. If you want your electronics fixed in a timely fashion with good service and you want it done right DON'T GO HERE. read more

Update: I disputed the charge for their work "fixing" the ipad and Chase called me this morning and wasted more of my time discussing with these shambling "repair" persons. Long story short: they were out of their depth and f***ed me out of time and money with job-critical equipment. RECOMMEND AVOIDING. *** Very disappointed. Wanted a local business to be an alternative to default globo-corp. Brought my iPad pro in for cracked screen replacement on 5/24. As of this morning 6/3 the screen is not cracked but just a different type of broken displaying only black and grey smudges from backlight trying to get through the dead panel. It's a family business and that's great but the middle school aged young lady is the only one on staff who makes eye contact, doesn't mumble, says anything other than hello when they answer the phone... anything needed for retail environment. She greeted me, but from a bench in the customer area... no clues to her working there so didn't know what was going on. In other visits she did an excellent job. Gave me clipboard to fill out but then after I completed it, they didn't use it, and this led to no automatic updates until the day I picked the ipad up from their text message system. NOT ONCE did I get a call/text from them until then, I always either called to get a mumbly hold please for five minutes of dead silence, or some brush off about it not being ready yet. oh and I drove out there like 6 times. They wanted my login password and I refused becuase they didn't know the model. I googled it for them while I was on the phone with them, had written it on the clipboard when I first came in, and told them the model number and that it was a gen.5. Despite that, (and their twice mentioning how weird it was I wouldn't just give my password,) they still ordered the wrong screen and cost me time. They eventually ordered the correct one, gave pickup date and on the pickup date I drove over after zero communication to see what was up. iPad was entombed in rubber bands with adhesive residue all over it. A mumble told me I could clean it off. Whatever, got it home, sliced through the rubber band forrest, and cleaned off the sloppy adhesive along the edges, peeled off the new plastic thing and was able to use it for all of an hour before it failed again rendering it useless. To their credit they responded to texts and I sent videos of the ipad right after failure and again after a hard reset/reboot and no communication since. Have asked for my money back and they've been silent ever since. Regrettably do not recommend this place. Their price was excellent but had to remind them what they quoted me which was 50% less than what my original invoice read. read more

The first time I went to the computer house was for a hinge repair because my laptop couldn't physically open. This process went smoothly and I received my computer back within the time frame I was told that it would be repaired. I was pleased with the service, so much so that when the same thing happened to my computer a year later I returned to the computer house. (IT was likely wear and tear that's caused my computer to have the issue again a year later because I am a graduate student and use the same laptop daily). The second time I got my computer repaired, I was told the repair would take 3-5 business days. After I didn't hear back about my laptop on the 5th day, the following day I called to see the status. The person I spoke with told me they would have to check and would call me back within 24 hours. I did not get a call back. About the 2 week mark I started calling daily to get information on the status of my laptop. Almost every time I talked to someone different and all I was told was my repair was delayed. Eventually the progress was changed to in progress. I received my lap top back exactly 30 days after I took it in to get repaired. When shown my laptop the screen was cracked (an issue that I did not come into the facility with). I was told they would repair my laptop with no charge and I could come back with my laptop in 4 days (when they anticipated to have the part). They told me that they would do a same day service. On the fourth day I did not hear anything so I called the next business day and I was told to bring it in because the part had arrived. It was late in the business day so I was told to come back the next day. When I did I was told the person who was supposed to be working on my laptop did not show up to work, so I should call back the next day. (The employee I spoke with noted there is poor communication among staff). I called and was told the part was defective so they were ordering another one. I told them I was leaving the country in 2.5 weeks so the repair needs to be timely. A week later I called and was told it would be three more days. That same day, I called another computer repair place and I was told they could get it back to me in one week including shipping time. I told them my situation that I was in a time crunch and my computer was already at a repair place, but I did NOT mention computer house. However, the other computer company asked if my computer was at the "computer house". He revealed that they get calls almost weekly due to some issue they had at the computer house. After getting off the phone with the other computer company, I drove to pick up my laptop. I expressed I have been patient, and don't have three days because I am leaving the country in a week and a half. They started talking over me to say that patience doesn't matter if the part has not arrived. They showed me the computer screen which said the part should be arriving that evening. I told them that I will be picking up my laptop the following day whether it is fixed or not. I received a call two hours later and was informed my part had arrived and would start working on it that evening after close. The next day when I arrived my laptop was on the counter and it appeared the repair had just started. I stayed in the waiting area. I was offered a refreshment. During my wait a man came in and returned 45 minutes later upset that his computer had been with the computer house since December. (Now I don't know this man's story or his experience, that's just what he said). A half hour after my pickup time I received my laptop screen fixed including its touch screen ability. I was transparent with the owner and stated "I will be leaving a review. I will try to be objective as possible, but I wish I had more good things to say. If there is anything else you would like to provide for a positive experience..." His response was calm and he stated that if ruining the reputation of a business was going to help me in the future, leaving a review was up to me. The second repair, including both the hinge and screen repair, took 44 days. Both experiences I received a student discount. I will not be returning to the computer house for my computer repair needs. read more

Somehow my review of this place got taken down. Took my laptop to get repaired here. After calling and pressing them (with their empty assurances they would call us back) for an estimate on when repairs could be completed, we finally were able to get atime frame. When I received my laptop back, the repairs that were discussed weren't fully completed, and the repairs that were done were done sloppily. Part of the corner was still broken, there was glue on my screen, and the bottom part of the frame obscures some of my screen. I have pictures of my laptop before and after repairs as proof. I did not ask them to fix their sub par repairs because I didn't want to deal with hounding them for scheduling repairs and additionally I had no faith in their ability to complete a quality repair. read more

Horrendous experience. Staff is super friendly with good humble, positive vibe, but it's all downhill from there. Suffered a power surge that wiped my motherboard on my custom built computer. Brought it Geek Squad who ran diagnostics so I knew what was going on with it but Best Buy of course just wants to sell a new computer. I bring it to Computer House and worked primarily with Larry. I tell them I just need a replacement mother board but they convince me they need to run their diagnostics. I pay for the expedited service. It took them 7 days to tell me what I already knew, that I need a replacement motherboard. Larry is not a tech guy so he didn't know which motherboard to put in, but promised me that "Our tech guy will call you first thing tomorrow morning to go over what you need" and that I "will definitely be the first phone call". The next day goes by, did I receive a phone call? Nope. I go in again and they said the tech will just replace the motherboard and there is nothing to worry about. We will send you a link for you to purchase the motherboard. 2 days go by, did a ever receive the link to purchase the motherboard? nope. I finally go in to take my computer back and Larry tries to explain that a motherboard has been ordered and that it is being shipped. When I asked for tracking info on it, somehow he is not able to locate it. I get my computer out of there, go down the street to Capital City Computers in East Nashville. Within 2 HOURS Capital City Computers runs diagnostics on my comp and was able to get the motherboard replaced immediately. 2 HOURS! I waited almost 2 weeks to be told absolutely nothing from Larry. If you need your computer back in a timely manner, do yourself a favor and don't take it here. Awful experience read more

I normally don't write reviews , but due to the circumstances I will today. One of the owners of the Computer House on Jefferson St. Over charged me. He asked me to cashapp him the payment because they were busy. I did so, but when I got home I looked at the receipt and realized the amount he told me to cashapp was more than the amount on the receip. I called him and never received a response. As a result I went down there, showed him the receipt and asked him (Larry) for my change. He proceeded to yell. I told him it was not up for discussion I just want my change. I told him I would be back and I was going to get my money from him. He proceeded to come around the counter very aggressively and approached me as if he was going to pull a gun out on me. I will be calling the police to have it addressed. I trying to help myself not respond to this foolishness the wrong way. That's why I'm taking these steps. Larry is not to be trusted. This is not the first time he has tried to get over. I know him when he worked at another Computer House in south Nashville. read more

I really fought with myself about leaving a review or not because I understand that this is a local small business. However, It's been several weeks after having my computer fixed by this place and the experience still hasn't sat well with me. I dropped off my MacBook Pro for a screen repair a few days before New Year's and didn't get my computer back until the second week of February. To their credit there was a major holiday and a prolonged snow event in between that. Though, when I dropped it off I was told I would get text updates along the way "like ordering a pizza from dominos". My experience couldn't have been farther from that as I revived zero updates other than vague answers like "it's in process" or "waiting on parts". I had to call several times and twice I was promised a call back by the technician which never came. When they finally called to tell me it was ready it wasn't until I had my card out ready to pay that the employee behind the counter mentioned that the top half of the computer is a different shade of gray than the bottom half "because of a supply shortage". On top of that the screen has a lot more give to it than it did before and feels a lot less solid. All in all, I spent just south of $500 (with a discount because of my profession). For that money I could've just bought a used version of the new M1 MacBooks. Steer clear! read more

We try to support small businesses when possible. Customer Service is horrible. Incredibly friendly, humble owner. My HP laptop keyboard stopped working. We uninstalled and reinstalled it. Of course, it was only 13 months post purchase - 1 month outside of warranty. Laptop was used maybe 30 minutes a day for personal finances, internet, etc. So, plug to not buy an HP! Purchase a replacement keyboard because my husband was going to replace it. Something about lining it up with divits(sp?) he was not able to do it. Called Computer House who said he could do it in 1-2 days with a $75 quote. My husband drops off the laptop and told there is a $25 intake fee + $75 repair fee + taxes = $120. Hmmm.....5 days later, no word. My husband stops by and is told the keyboard is fine and they test it. Gave my husband $20 back for not completing the work. I try it out that evening, it's still has the same issues. My husband takes it back again - we already paid for the service - and told the owner he wants the keyboard replaced and we already paid. Multiple follow-ups, it's being serviced. It will be ready in an hour, my husband stops by after work. Not ready. This repeated experience happens atleast 3-4 more times over 2 weeks. Losing our patience, we decided to pick up the laptop, purchased replacement keyboard etc. My husband goes in and is told he can order another keyboard with the divits connected, or whatever and he will repair it for what is paid. Our trust is not there now. My husband waited 2 hours to just get the laptop back. What? I would like to leave feedback on the actual work, but can't since it wasn't completed. The glowing reviews of this place is what brought me here. I took my laptop to this place over a year ago to have new RAM installed. Speedy process and they didn't gouge me like other computer repair shops do. I had no complaints. Then, they began calling me. Sometimes it was once a month, sometimes it was every week or so. Every time I picked up the phone, I said, "I live 100 miles away now. I will not be coming back. Please take me off your list." They would always reply, "Well, tell your friends they need to service their electionics here!" One guy even awkwardly told me he loved me - no context at all. It was strange. But no matter how often I told them I will never return, the calls still came; I had to start screening them. It continued over the course of eight months. Several weeks after I stop receiving calls from Computer House, I get two text messages at 2 AM, explaining some new deal they have for laptop repairs. Not sure if it was an automated number, I sent back messages asking them to please stop contacting me anyway. I got two more text messages the next day and finally blocked the number. I have run a similar business model in the past - but I know where to draw the line. Today, the line was drawn at them somehow locating my Instagram profile and following me. This is highly inappropriate behavior, an invasion of privacy if you will. My profile is public, though to find it, one has to search specifically by my phone number or email. I thought it was clear that when I was signing over my contact info it was so they could tell me when my computer was finished with repairs. Unbeknownst to me, I was signing over my privacy as well. Long story short: The owner of this place is creepy. Ruthless. Does not take no as a no, even when it pertains to harassment, even when I have moved far away and will never return. Did I enjoy the service I was given? Yes. Did I enjoy the countless phone calls, texts, and unsolicited conversations about my life? Hell no. Computer House can fix your computer but they can also stalk you until the sun is long gone. Congratulations, you have gotten me to tell my friends about your business, but perhaps not in the way you had anticipated. read more

This is a very friendly and actually kinda fun place. They had me laughing the entire time I was here. I took my laptop to be fixed to one place and they had for over a month. Brought it to these guys and they promised it wouldn't be that long. So now I'm just waiting to hear back about my diagnostic results. I'll update about service once it's done! In all my years using computer repair companies and other customer service outlets, I have never had the type of poor service that I received at Computer House. They disrespected me, lied about what services they were performing, and then physically damaged my computer. They refused to acknowledge that they damaged my computer, demonstrated a general lack of knowledge of computer parts, and overcharged me for the "services" they provided.
