Took in my Sony Vaio & my girls' HP. Had a virus on my laptop, you know, the FBI Virus, that takes control of your screen and web cam & attempts to make you feel like a jerk for watching porn...yeah, that virus. Compusettings were able to erase the Virus, without erasing my hard drive, and I received my laptop the same day I dropped it off. My girls' HP laptop is almost 3 years old, and it had a virus as well, not sure if hers was because of porn, hope it was, cause that's hot. lol. Anyway. Took in her laptop and unfortunately Compusettings had to erase her hard drive, but we were told that it would be necessary. Now, they got rid of the virus, which ended up complicating the laptop even further. Now the best part of this is that Compusettings continued to fix each problem as they occurred without ever hassling us or charging us over. Took 3 visits to get her laptop to finally recover, but Compusettings upgraded her OS to Windows 7 and threw in free Anti-Virus software. At every visit, Compusettings were quite adamant about resolving each issue and never hinted that they couldn't get the job done or that we would have to pay more for any additional service. They provided me with excellent service and did an excellent job in repairing my Sony VAIO laptop, which had a broken screen and mouse sensor. I touched (not even tapped, it was the lightest thing ever) the screen on my 1-year-old Sony Vaio, and the thing just cracked. WTF. I emailed 5 or 6 people who had listings on Craigslist, as well as 3 businesses with strong Yelp reviews. The people who could fix it the cheapest needed several days to turn it around. The folks who could do it quickly were expensive. Enter Compusettings and Johan, who did it cheaply - AND for a mere $20, picked up my laptop on the rainiest day ever. Not professional in my opinion. I dropped my PlayStation off on Thursday evening, and I was told very confidently by the owner it would be ready by Saturday. I didn't pick it up Saturday, they're closed Sunday, and I didn't even pick it up Monday. So you can imagine my level of disappointment when I arrived Tuesday evening an hour before closing to find that my PlayStation was not ready. In fact the owner was very nonchalant about it. But I was highly upset because I live no where near this shop and had to go out of my way to get there, a waste of time and money. with the help of a handyman from my old neighborhood, I had installed some HIK security cameras around my home a year and a half ago. it was a very tough job -- I'm not a professional electrician or camera guy, but did the best I could, buying and piping all the cables, installing the cameras, setting up the DVR, etc.... It was the first of a huge number of home restoration jobs my family have been busy with since we moved here. A few days ago one of the cameras suddenly lost power. Before this happened, I had originally sourced Computer Settings to help with some broken iphone screens, but when I learned they also dealt with security camera installation and repair, I called them and explained my situation and what I thought was the problem. A short time later their camera specialist called me back and within 20 minutes he came by to check out the problem. It was a very involved rewiring job, which I knew it would be. The cables were thick and the pipes were 1/2" with lots of turns around corners. He explained everything he wanted to do to get things working and quoted an extremely fair price for the work. He and his partner were very thorough, very considerate about working on our home with care as we had a fruit tree planted right where they needed to be. He even put on shoe covers when he came inside to inspect the main system. The job took just under 2 hours, including double checking all aspects of the entire system. They were both very professional, friendly and stuck exactly to the original quote, even when the problem turned out to be more complicated than it first seemed. I couldn't be happier with them. I wish I had known about them when we first moved here so they could have set up our system. Regardless, they got my system working again and I would definitely hire them for any future issues! DO NOT GO HERE. Just Don't. I recently went for a broken hinge which required them to order the part from a vendor. The reasons I will never go back to them are as follows: 1. The lack of communication is atrocious. When I dropped off the laptop they told me they would call me in a day to check in on the progress. They never called. So I called them. That day they told me they would call back on the update for the piece they ordered. Never called me. So I called them four days later. They claimed that the piece was still coming in and that they were going to check on the shipping. Why didn't they already do that and update their client on the information? I call them to check in on my laptop 3 days later on a FRIDAY and they tell me it will be ready by TUESDAY. I call on a WEDNESDAY because they never called me. YET AGAIN. They tell me that they will call me on Thursday to tell me whether the part came in. Come FRIDAY I get no call. 2. They do not care about the customer. I called them on Friday explaining that my laptop has been in their possession for more than 2 weeks but they do not seem to care. The guy on the phone, ERIC, kept saying, "I do not know what to tell you". There is nothing to be said. I went on to say that their lack of communication is unprofessional. By now, ERIC, knew I was upset. He then goes on to blame someone else in his team for telling me the wrong information every time I called. I SPOKE TO ERIC EVERY TIME I CALLED. He handled my account and was quick to pass the blame to someone else instead of taking responsibility. When I asked ERIC how he would fix the situation, he said he could not give me a discount at all. For waiting weeks, not being kept up to date, and being blatantly lied to...I don't get a discount at all. He'd rather LOSE a customer then respectfully apologize. 3. No common sense. When they called me back on Friday to tell me if the part had FINALLY come in, they tell they sent it back to the vendor. They would not tell me why. HOW do you think that's okay? What's better is that it would take ANOTHER 5 DAYS to fix my laptop. So when I told them I'm coming to get my laptop and a refund I wanted to know what parts my laptop needed in the first place. He said that he could not tell me what parts my laptop needed. He refused to. HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? First, they basically screw me over and sit on my laptop for weeks and then have the audacity to withhold information from me. I literally gave up and decided to come into the store the next day to get my laptop. 4. Rude, even in person. When I went to the store on Saturday they had my laptop ready. MY LAPTOP LOOKED WORSE THAN WHEN I GAVE IT TO THEM. I'm not a computer repair person but I'm also not dumb. There was something sticking out from the hinge that had not been sticking out before. I asked the guy what that piece was. He looked at his co-worker with a laugh and IGNORED ME. So I asked again what that piece was. He said, "Oh...its the...you know...hinge." I said, "No. The hinge is the part next to it. What is this metal piece STICKING out of the laptop?". He didn't answer. Instead he handed me a pen to sign my receipt. I didn't even take the pen. I looked at him and had to control everything inside of me not to scream. I said, "I'm not signing anything until you tell me what that piece is." Finally some other guy told me it was a bracket. WHY was it so hard for them to tell me what that piece was? Such disrespect for a customer who would have gladly paid them $120 to fix my laptop. On top of that, the guy blamed me for not wanting to fix my laptop. When he finally said it was the bracket he went on to say, "Because you didn't want us to fix it, it looks like that". EXCUSE ME? My brother had to pull away before I had a massive freakout. This place is the epitome of what it means to be a bad business owner in the Bronx. Every time that I called they didn't understand me when I speak perfectly clear English. If they feel like helping you, then they'll help you. But if they find that you aren't worth their time, they'll treat you like crap. Do yourself a favor and DON'T GO HERE. read more

I am so glad I took my computer here. I cracked my screen right before my first day of work at a new job. I started work on Monday and if I didn't have my laptop I would have been fired. I emailed on late Friday night & received an email back first thing Saturday morning from Jesus. My laptop was infected by ""Internet Security"" virus. I brought it to compusettings at this location, after they review told me your hard drive is damaged need to be replaced and it will cost you $180 dollars for 160GB hard drive and no garantee on data reovery. I took it back and fixed it from a small palce for only $60 dollars, Virus was cleaned and all data was recvered. It working fine with the same hard disk, no damages found. These guys are lifesavers and good at what they do. My laptop screen was cracked from my little one stepping on it after leaving a pen in the middle. Long story short, I called for an estimate and it seemed the most reasonable compared to other places I contacted. I took it in on a Thursday and was told I would get it by Tuesday because they had to order the screen. My laptop was ready when they said it would be. Plain and simple, these guys rock. I brought in my two broken PS3's at 2:00 pm on a Friday. They diagnosed them both in minutes and quoted me extremely reasonable prices for each one. I'm one of those people where if it isn't cheap and easy to fix I'll just go buy a new one not to be inconvenienced. For one of the PS3's they had the parts in stock and with very little begging I convinced them to fix it right then and there.
