I thought the screen on my iphone 16 Pro was cracked. I called around to several iphone repair stores and was quoted from $200 to $400 to replace the screen. I happened to be on Broadway and 97th Street and saw Techtronics iPhone Laptop and Macbook Repair. I spoke to David and he kindly asked if he could take my iphone screen protector off my phone. He saw it that is was the screen protector cracked NOT the screen itself! Wow! He took the protector off the phone and replaced it with a new one.... $54. Prefect! Thank you David. Super friendly and helpful. Needed a new screen to replace a cracked one on my computer - they were very communicative and clear about pricing and time line. They even looked up the price of replacing the whole computer so that I could decide if it was worth repairing. The screen had cracked because the computer was dropped and had a bent corner - when the laptop was closed it cracked the screen. Beware that they charge you $65 diagnostic fee (+tax) due at the time of your visit before giving you an estimate of repair cost. I would recommend anyone to check out places that at least take a look at what's wrong and give a free quote of the cost. The diagnostic fee is essentially retainer fee and traps you into proceeding with them and letting them charge however much they want. You will end up paying half of the price if you take your PC to get repaired elsewhere easily in Manhattan. If you read through the manager's responses to negative reviews, you will understand the way they are so defensive, aggressive, and unapologetic is excellent evidence of dishonest and unethical business practice. Like most other customers who suffered from the scams suggested, lots of five-star reviews are probably fake, and that's just not how decent repair shops do business. Do yourself a favor and skip unethical PC repair businesses like this one. I hesitated to give this review cause I would predict the manager's nasty defense, but I am glad to describe what's objectively going on after their borderline harassment of text and email reminders to leave a (nice) review. read more

This was my 2nd time taking my computer to Techtronics. The first time - a few years ago - was because of a mechanical issue with my computer overheating. This time I was pretty sure my computer had a virus or malware. On both occasions the technicians were professional, courteous, efficient and they were able to resolve the issues. On this occasion, I was offered two options for proceeding with the virus/malware removal. And, once the system was repaired, one of the technicians stayed a few minutes after closing to help me remove some unnecessary programs and to show me how to set up additional safety measures. well first I want to bring the attention to one of the photos in my last review.. I uploaded the wrong one, the first photo is when I broke it and needed it fixed, the middle one was supposed to be after they fixed it but its not, and the last one is what happened after I unplugged it from my charger (post fix). the issue is/was the parts they use aren't authorized apple parts. because of this and/if installed improperly the same thing can happen over and over again. they try to argue that they are exactly like apples but as stated by apples technicians the screen they placed on my device was missing the display flex cable. keeping in mind that they said any device without it would still work, until it doesn't. After serving them a demand letter, 3 days, and a meaningless argument back and forth of them trying to get me to admit I dropped it even after apple confirmed that it was not only a hardware issue but that the issue was it was missing the display flex cable...FINALLY David agreed to replace the faulty screen. I still hate that not only did I pay MORE than apple was charging but I lost so much productivity going through all of this. I didn't receive my refund that was in my demand letter but I settled with a replacement screen..... hopefully this one lasts and trust me.. ima keep you posted. if you didn't know: -when you get your item fixed by a third party it automatically falls out of warranty (apple) -generic is cool but only good for a quick fix not a long one. -Frank is both a technician and a supervisor (this is said sarcastically) -David is respectful. -Chris just simply knows nothing he charged me more than apple and encouraged my business away the first time.. meanwhile David prided himself on being a business who charges LESS than apple and that they would never put a faulty screen on... I am writing another review because they asked me to delete my last one because it was "bad for business" but I thought I would just update you guys and remind you that I still don't recommend going here. read more

Took my daughters MacBook in because the screen was broken. I asked how much to fix. They wanted a $71.77 diagnosis fee that they would apply to the repair. Said it would need a new screen for $400. That was too much so I asked for the diagnosis report that I paid for so I could follow up with other options. They said there was no report. I said "so you're charging me $71 to tell me the screen is broken when that's why I brought it in? You have nothing else to tell me for that money?" They said they did "diagnostics". I know everybody else gives them good reviews but I could never in good conscience take somebody's money to tell them what they already know. Re the comment from the manager... that's a really bad argument. That's like a patient coming to you for a broken hand and you charge them for a full body scan and tell them "You wouldn't want to leave without knowing you might also have a sprained ankle!!" Nice if it's a courtesy but not if you're charging. read more

A pretty convenient and trustworthy option for Columbia students. Like others said, be aware there's a diagnostic fee to get started! I brought in a dell xps I had spilled water on and paid around $70 for diagnosis. The front desk guy came off a bit rude and condescending--nothing egregious, but it wasn't a pleasant conversation. In contrast, the technician was very kind and communicative. He called two days after drop-off to say there was a chance they could repair it ($450 flat fee) but weren't super confident, since the laptop was soaked. A few days later he let me know that they got it running, but it wasn't working consistently. Therefore they couldn't consider it a repair, so they wouldn't be charging me. They did offer to do data recovery for $250. Obviously I wish they could have fixed my laptop, but I appreciate the way they handled it when they couldn't fix it. read more
