I only use it occasionally but when I do, it's important. First I called a local computer repair shop. They said it would be $90. Not the worst. Then I asked my friend if she would recommend her computer technician. She said yes enthusiastically and gave me the number for Technical Difficulties. When I asked him for a quote, he told me that different HP laptops may have more than one fan and that he would have to see it. Then he told me that if it's just the fan, I could try a laptop fan pad. Never heard of it! I bought one for under $30 and it solved the problem! What integrity!

One day I was accessing some files -- one minute the files were there and the next minute they were not readable. I panicked. I thought that the files were lost forever until I discovered that there were some companies out there that recover just this kind of lost data. https://www.yelp.com/biz/crb-computer-repair-brooklyn-brooklyn-2 -- recommended Technical Difficulties. I knew the cost could be very expensive, but I had to find out if it could be done and what they would charge. Avi at Technical Difficulties explained to me all the different possibilities before I agreed to send the flashdrive to a lab. I had a certain figure I had in mind that I would go up to because the journal entries were irreplaceable. After waiting a couple of weeks, I was told that most of the files could be recovered including the journal entries. I thought it was a miracle! The cost was not cheap, but reasonable. I was very happy with the service I received. I also very much appreciated how the process was communicated to me. There was never any pressure -- everything was left up to me. I highly recommend their service for data recovery. I was able to recover something that had a lot of sentimental value. Thank you so much Technical Difficulties!

Variety of merchandise is pretty wide with DIY sections being rather useful and interesting. Aisles are clean and wide, well-lit. It's easy to reserve pieces of merchandise online in order to later pick them up at store. Mail-in freebies offers are nice, too. The Brooklyn location amenities include large parking space and restrooms. There is no loud, crappy music blasted into your ears. Thank you for that! I tend to escape some establishments where music is loud and annoying. Too bad that the store has no seating spaces, since the location is quite spacious, and if you have time to spend there, you get tired. Definitely do your homework before visiting Micro Center, as that place is certainly intriguing, but your experience there is much better, if you know why you are there. If you decide to misbehave at that store somehow badly, then keep in mind that a New York City Department of Correction building is right next door :) .

An individual greeted us at the door, spoke to us through a slot in the door, took our laptop while we were standing outside in the cold. We were unable to enter the business like any other business. The place was situated like a fortress. I had delt with this business previously, and what we experienced this time was surprising. My first visit, I was able to enter the business, there was a counter where I was able to place my laptop, and spoke with the technician face to face. This time it was totally different and disgusting, to say the least. He might be an excellent technician, with cost very reasonable, but the business appearance is unacceptable. This is a small community business I would love to support, but the customer service is very poor. Because of this, I would not recommend this business to anyone because of this. Mr. Jean, has to do better than this.

I was extremely upset and overwhelmed at the prospect of not getting my work done in time. Fortunately, Jean saved the day. I took my computer into his shop at 5:30pm on Thursday. He called me at 8:00pm that evening to let me know what was going on and to give me a price estimate ($150). He let me know I could pick it up any time after noon the following day. I stopped by at 1pm, and had my laptop back in perfect working order at exactly the price he gave me. In fact, my computer works better/faster than it did before I took it in, and he cleaned the keyboard and screen as well. I am so relieved and happy, and extremely thankful for Jean's swift and hard work. FYI- it's cash only, there's an ATM down the street with (IIRC) a $1.75 fee.

DO NOT schedule any IPhone related repairs with this Best Buy's Geek Squad…read more I had initially scheduled an IPhone battery replacement through Apple's website for the afternoon, but was told to reschedule for the following day due to the person in charge of IPhone repairs not being in at the time. I was fine with this, and came back the next day for my now rescheduled appointment. The appointment ended up taking ~4 hours, which, although longer than what was stated on Apple's website regarding authorized repair spots, was still fine. Immediately after picking up my phone from them, I had noticed that my phone was strangely hot, but assumed I was just imagining things. After arriving home, my phone began to drastically overheat, turn off out of nowhere, and its camera and FaceID stopped working completely. The person in charge of IPhone repairs had either replaced my phone's battery with a faulty one, or had simply damaged the insides of my phone during repair. How do you manage this as someone who is paid to do IPhone repairs on the daily? I have since gotten a replacement phone through Apple's warranty and will likely never schedule a service with Best Buy's Geek Squad again. I truly feel as though I could have done a better (and faster) job myself by ordering an IFixit kit.

Many staff members are friendly and knowledgeable, and when you do get help, the service can feel thorough and professional. A lot of customers echo this, noting helpful interactions and strong product knowledge. That said, the experience is inconsistent. The biggest issue is support--both in terms of availability and capability. Wait times can be long, and it's not always clear who is available to help. More frustratingly, I've been told on multiple occasions that certain issues "can't be handled in-store," which feels limiting for a location that's supposed to offer full service and Genius Bar support. This aligns with broader feedback about the store: while many people have positive experiences, others mention delays and uneven service depending on timing or staff. Overall, it's a convenient location with potential, but the inconsistency in support and limitations on what can actually be done in-store make it hard to fully rely on.

First employee tried to talk me into buying a new phone because mine was already almost two years old. Then told me, despite what the Apple app said, the battery couldn't be replaced that day. I explained I only wanted the battery replaced since new phones come out in September. That employee disappeared, and a second person told me the battery wasn't in stock and would take three days to arrive -- plus another two hours for the actual repair. The Genius Bar feels like the Gaslighting Bar. I did my research and only wanted a replacement battery but they made me sit through a sales pitch. If they knew the battery I needed wasn't in stock why would they take the appointment? Apple loves to seem green, promoting repairability in theory, but in practice the process is designed to push customers toward buying new devices.
