We are in the process of making room in our two-car garage so we can actually park two cars there,…read moreand a big step in that process involves selling our lawnmower. The lawnmower needed a tune up, as the battery no longer worked and it would not start, and we contacted Weingartz to help. They picked up the lawnmower about a week ago, and said they'd call us if the work needed would total over $400. Sure enough, it was over $400 so they called us. My husband and I decided to move forward with the work, which included a new battery, new carburetor, and other things. If we had decided not to continue, the $90 pick up/drop off fee plus the $136 to look at it would have still applied. Our total was about $680 including all of that. It was supposed to be delivered today between 2-4pm, and they texted to say they were on the way. I stepped outside around 3pm to see our lawnmower being driven up our NEIGHBOR'S driveway; I went to go tell my husband and when I came back, we saw the Weingartz truck driving away. It was extremely disappointing that not only did they deliver it to the wrong house, but they didn't even knock on the door or tell our neighbors, presumably - we knocked on their door to tell them we were taking our lawnmower back. Until that point, communication had been good, so that's why they get two stars from me instead of one ... However, between the high pricing and the mishap at the end, unfortunately I don't think we'll be using them again. The cherry on top of all of this: I called them to tell them about them delivering it to our neighbors, and they didn't really seem to care. The person I talked to asked if I wanted to talk to the manager; I said yes; she put me on hold without telling me she was going to put me on hold, and then it went to the manager's voicemail. I don't care about the voicemail part but at least tell me you're going to put me on hold...

They called to report on the diagnostics on 5/13 to say that they didn't recommend a repair. They said that they could "scrap" it and keep it and give me $45 from the cost of diagnostics. That is actually the cost of the return delivery that they wouldn't be doing so it wasn't "giving" me anything. Mike, the service manager, said that he didn't really have anything that would help me when I said I would need to buy a new mower. When I walked in and saw 5 riders on the floor, I knew they just didn't want my business. Oh well, I'll be shopping elsewhere.

I've had this clock since 1991, and it looks perfect on the wall in the living room. I decided that since I can't find a modern quartz operated battery clock with a similar face that is 12+ wide in diameter, it was well worth saving despite a family member who advised to toss it into the garbage can. One of my friends at work recommended the Northville Watch and Clock Shop. This business is located in a vintage house that has been converted into a business that does first-rate repairs on any type of clock or watch, especially cuckoo clocks from Germany. With that being said, the service that is provided here is top-notch, and super fast. I was thinking it might take a few months to repair my beloved wall clock, but it was done within a week, complete with a new movement installed. Likewise, all of the repairs done here come with a complete one-year warranty. The best part, the clock keeps perfect time like it did when I first bought it back in 1991.

Lady was pleasant and first said that I could have it back on Tuesday after 12 (this was Saturday at 1 pm!). When I demurred, she then said -ok, we can do it now. Just come back to pick it up before we close (they close at 3). We had plans for lunch in Dearborn and headed there. She then calls me at 1:23 pm saying it was ready for pick up! Why couldn't she have just told me to wait? We are on our way back from lunch and I called to ask if she could please give us 5 extra minutes (ETA was 3:05) to pick up. Her response? "No, we close at 3 sharp. Are you going to be able to get here in time?" FYI -not great service, guys. I'm in the market for a grandfather clock and would have loved to support a local business. Clearly, I won't be supporting this one.

And it's a good house. But it is on a corner lot and it has a lot of sidewalk. I mean, a lot of sidewalk. The older I get, the more shoveling hurts. Plus, I feel like clearing snow is something I should be able to do myself, instead of hiring it out. Much like mowing the lawn. Call me old school. Long story short, I needed a snowblower. So I went online. I did some research. I thought long and hard about my snowblower needs, my budget, and what kind of person I actually am. Turns out, I'm not someone who wants to mess with internal combustion engines, or gas tanks, or carburetors. Which means I wanted a battery powered snowblower. After finding the Toro single stage snowblower, I happened to stumble onto the fact that there was a local shop where I could buy one. Thank you Google (sorry Yelp) because I'm still new to Michigan and Ann Arbor and had no idea the Weingartz was even a place! So I picked up the phone, spoke to a lovely man, told him what I wanted, and gave my credit card number. I asked about contactless pick up, and when I pulled up, the gent wheeled my brand new snowblower out into the parking lot and loaded up in my car. No muss. No fuss. Easy peasy. And priced competitively with the big box stores, all while buying local. The machine is wonderful. It throws snow like a champ. My back is happy. My wallet is happy. My neighbors who walk are happy. My community is just a teeny tiny bit better because I kept my purchase to a Michigan based business. I hope it lasts for a thousand years. But if it does not, I'll go back to Weingartz first and pick up the latest model.

It's very frustrating (especially for a mower still under warranty so there's not a lot of choice for service providers). I wish I would have purchased my mower elsewhere.
