This is an ongoing warehouse estate sale. I've noticed that they're usually open when there's also a festival on nearby Main Street. They advertise upcoming sales on Craigslist and on estatesales.org; do not plan on doing a drop-in because hours are sporadic. I've had some luck here but I wouldn't ever make a special trip just for this. I typically add it to a Martinez-Benicia-Port Costa outing. Some of my scores have been Corning Ware, Pyrex, blue Delphite depression glass, and a series of small original oil paintings depicting island scenes (my kid fell in love with them). Prices run high but it's still worth a visit if you're going to be in the area. read more

My son and l attended this warehouse sale Saturday. Items were slightly overpriced and they are not willing to negotiate on pricing even when buying multiple items. We were give one price from the woman and the man tripled the price! We decided not to purchase anything due to their rudeness. Part of treasure hunting is enjoying you experience. I cannot recommend Comstock highly enough. Diane and her crew came in and organized everything. I mean EVERYTHING. All I had to do was remove personal papers and any items I wanted to keep. They priced and sold absolutely every stick of furniture, every towel, all clothing, books - you name it. They even sold half empty containers of cleanser and soap! Diane told me not to throw away anything. She said that even if I thought it was junk just leave it there and they'll take care of it - and they did! When I walked into the house after the sale I didn't even need to vacuum the floor. Everything was gone and she handed me a check! What didn't sell was donated to charity and I was given the receipt for tax purposes. It's hard to lose a loved one and there's so much to do. Comstock made a difficult time easier and literally took care of one of the most difficult tasks one has. They're absolutely fantastic. read more

I am a realtor in Walnut Creek and this is by far the best estate sale company to use. They are efficient and extremely helpful in situations where the homeowner is downsizing, moving, needing to go to assisted living and in some cases, has passed away leaving the trustees with the burden of removing or selling everything in the home. Dan and Diane have a wonderful crew. They spend hours organizing and pricing everything, advertising and attracting large groups of eager buyers. They either set the estate sale up at the property, or in some cases take items to their warehouse. While I have read negative comments from other yelpers stating they are rude or argue, keep in mind they are managing multiple tasks with major traffic and not so easy consumers. I have attended many sales in addition to the one's they hold for my clients. They are incredible, the seller wins always receiving money and the home is left completely vacant when they are done. They have items hauled away if they are not sold, or donated, always keeping the owners best interest in mind. We LOVE Dan, Diane and the entire team. read more

I understand that not everything is cheap at estate sales but when you try to sell bathroom items like soap and tissue boxes as you would find at the store than that is pretty questionable. The ones running this were rude and screaming at each other and made the whole thing uncomfortable. I don't think it's "entitlement" if I dislike someone being rude and condescending to me. read more

I went to the same estate sale (2/13 - 2/15/15) as a couple of other reviewers, and my experience was so different from theirs that I have to wonder -- especially about the ones who joined Yelp just to trash the company. On Sunday the staff was calm, helpful and friendly; prices were more than reasonable. Folks, if you do estate sales, expect lines and crowds, and realize the staff is trying to attend to 10 things at once. Try to be zen, and leave your entitlement at home. If you want rock-bottom prices, go on the last day or go to Goodwill. (One-time San Leandro reviewer who's been to "thousands" of estate sales and was "told by at least 30 to 40 people how hrrible [sic]" someone is: exaggerate just a tad maybe?) read more

I go to estate sales every week and I appreciate how very hard the owners of Comstock work, and for that matter all the other estate sale companies too. They are professional, helpful, have great prices, and do their best to work with many people all at once. I hear too many people being kind of demanding and aggressive in asking the owners to give them ridiculously low prices, and then get mean when they don't get what they want. Remember, the prices you get at an estate sale are already LOW! Respect the owners. Also, don't expect that all items are 'like new'. Go to a regular store if that is what you want. read more

I hired Comstock Estate Liquidation to run an estate sale and perform a house cleanout. My parents moved to an assisted living facility and wanted to get their house up for sale. They had accumulated a lot of items over the years and in order to get everything out of the house to prepare for sale, we needed to sell as much of it as we could. This was going to be a high volume sale of low value items, for the most part. There were some more valuable electronics and camera equipment, and some large furniture pieces. We interviewed 4 estate liquidation companies and received bids from each. Some of them told us the large furniture pieces would be very hard to sell and we might have to end up paying have them hauled. Comstock did not do that. They told us right up front that the large items would sell and would be gone, it was just a matter of price. Also, on the initial walkthrough, they saw the camera equipment and seemed very knowledgeable about it and how to sell it for a good price. Even though they would have to do a lot of work given the volume of stuff to inventory, price and stage, their bid was competitive. We chose Comstock for those reasons and I'm glad we did. For the week prior to the sale, the Comstock team was in every day preparing the items and house for the sale. They were very professional, efficient, and easy to work with. They had brought in a lot of tables in order to display everything and by the start of the sale, they had everything laid out so the people coming in could flow through each room and see everything. They had cleaned up the house quite a bit as well by taking out a lot of recycling, trash and vacuuming where people would be walking. I was impressed they had done so much and made the place look like a store. By the end of the first day of the sale, 3 of the biggest pieces of furniture had sold for more than we had expected. That eased a lot of our worries about getting rid of the bigger pieces. The rest of the sale went smoothly with most items sold and the total dollar amount being higher than we initially expected. Comstock was very prompt with paying out the proceeds to us as well. After the sale, the Comstock team was efficient with clearing out the house with all remaining good items donated or hauled. Anything left that was not in good condition was recycled or dumped. They met the deadline we had for getting the house cleaned out. Throughout the whole process, we did not have to be involved at all. They took care of everything from start to finish. I went to an estate sale hosted by Comstock earlier today and it was a shockingly bad experience. I don't consider myself an expert, but I'm also not exactly new to estate sales. The first off-putting experience was overhearing a conversation between a fellow customer and one of the Comstock employees. The customer was asking about pricing and the employee was explaining that things must be priced at the front table. Ok, not an uncommon conversation at an estate sale. The problem was that the employee was using a very condescending tone. The employee was explaining the business model of estate sales and why the customer should be expecting higher prices that you would initially think. Again, it wasn't the content of the conversation that was off, it was the tone. The tone was aggressive and condescending. Even though I was half expecting high prices I was still surprised at what was being charged and how rude they were about it. The employees were clearly at odds with each other and the atmosphere was tense. For some reason I still bought a small amount of overpriced items and left. All in all, a bad experience. I will never attend an estate sale hosted by Comstock again. read more

I've been to a couple of estate sales run by Comstock and everything is smooth, professional, organized, friendly and clean. They're laid back and fair across the board, helpful when asked, knowledgable and they always give great service. I've seen them help people with heavy boxes, smile at people they recognize and welcome newcomers. They are happy to point out where to find what you are looking for. As a newcomer myself, I found this refreshing and, now, look for their estate sales with confidence. Their sales always have a good vibe, great people, laughter and amazing finds! I recently lost both my parents. We needed help with getting their estate in order and I called Comstock to see if they could help us with an estate sale. Dan the owner was rude and couldn't be bothered with coordinating a time to meet to discuss the job. In a business where you are dealing with people that are dealing with the loss of loved ones you should try to have a little compassion. I do not recommend this company it is not worth your time or effort to even call them. read more

Our experience with Diane and Dan was exactly the same as the experience of reviewer #1. Diane and Dan were extremely professional in handling this estate sale. We removed personal papers from my father's office and left everything else in the house. My father was 96 and lived in his home for 50 years when he passed. We went back just before the sale and were impressed at how everything was priced and displayed. It was exceptionally well organized. We returned again after the sale and we couldn't believe that ALL items had been sold or disposed of. The garage was completely empty, garden furniture was sold and the house was totally ready for cleaning to be sold. On a scale from 1-10, we score Comstock a 15!! read more

Their advertising strategy reaches and attracts a variety of buyers and pricing was reasonable and competitive.
