From the Columbus airport, I went straight to Comune. I rushed not only because my flight was delayed and Comune had graciously extended my reservation, but also because I couldn't wait to taste their all-vegetarian, mostly vegan menu. Standouts include the smoked beet tartare flavored with smoked shoyu, the French onion beans with caramelized leeks, and the caramelized onion and fig tartine. For mains, Comune features mushroom-forward heavy hitters like the grilled trumpet mushrooms with savoy cabbage and shallots, the walnut-maitake bolognese, and the lion's mane mushroom frites. The popular crispy rice with kimchi offers a tasty alternative, and like many dishes here, it's gluten-free. Complementing the food is a short, well-curated wine list. Pro tip: pair the earthy frites with a glass of Montepulciano. With its friendly staff and lovely space, Comune provided a great start to my work trip.

We went here when we visited columbus and it was the best decision ever! The vibe was so cool and hip, and every food and cocktail was amazing. and the server was so nice. can't wait to go back there whenever we visit columbus

This last visit to Comune was not as good as before. Both dishes while very nice to the eye were just ok taste wise. Seemed greasy too. I hate to give them a bad review but this was our last experience. Even the spread and bread was just ok and that was always our absolute favorite. We will visit when the have their fall menu

Hands down, the worst dining experience I had in Columbus. We started off our meal with appetizers: the flatbread and tartine. Both dishes we did enjoy, but upon further reflection we also found them underwhelming given the restaurant's reputation. For entrees, we ordered the crispy rice and breaded lion mane mushrooms to split since we don't often fry things at home. The crispy rice was under seasoned and had a mushy texture, which made the whole experience unpleasant. My least favorite dish was the lion mane, the dish tasted overly dry and could have benefited from having the side greens dressed more with vinaigrette. As someone who grew up with vegetarian cooks in the family, I'm used to having meatless meals. However, our meal here felt weirdly incomplete. Overall, based on the price point and highly rated reviews, Commune was disappointing. We thought the breads were tasty and a promising start to our meal, but everything following failed to hold up. Service was also questionable. Near the end of our meal, we struggled to pay the bill with our server walking past our table multiple times to the point we got the impression they were ignoring us.

We keep coming back for a reason. This place just truly isn't like anything else in Cbus. The food is different and delicious. Its so nice to change things up with the exclusively veggie menu. Everyone is super nice and the vibes are very chill. Its a cute spot in German Village and so different from the surroundings. The music is always good and servers are super friendly. If you're looking for something different, you definitely should try this place. It is a little pricey, however, you get a much different experience than other places in Cbus. The crispy rice was delicious. I could eat a whole bowl! The chicken pea stew was so unique, it tasted like meat in the most positive way (I think it was the charred artichokes). The pavlova was overshadowed by the jelly strawberries. But I definitely recommend the banana ice cream

It's great to see this restaurant pushing the vegetarian and vegan concept. Cozy place, was pretty noisy on Friday night. Great service. The bread with spreads was great, the rest of dishes could have used some more flavors, felt a bit bland for my taste. Overall good place!

Love the concept but felt like the execution was a miss. The food was far too salty. The rigatoni arrabbiata was hardly edible as it just tasted so salty. Would be helpful if they had two menus a vegan and a vegetarian one. For many items that can be made vegan the big question is how. Are there different ingredients being used, vegan versions of the same thing or is the non vegan ingredient just removed? I asked the waitress who said it all just varies dish to dish but that can affect if I want a specific dish or not. Overall was disappointed with the service. If you are going to a place like this and paying the high prices you expect good service and quality and thoughtful food. I think it was a miss overall and it is even more disappointing since we visited for a special occasion. I think the lack of vegan fine dining options is why this place is popular in the vegan community but I won't be back.

Comune is a restaurant experience that is very unique in Columbus. I loved the creativity of the menu and how they were doing things I have not seen offered elsewhere. All of the menu is vegetarian, with some vegan options. Service was so nice. Attentive but not rushed. The dining room is filled with healthy plants and natural light. Someone is taking great care of those plants! They have a small bar seating area and a lovely outdoor patio. The menu is fairly small with the majority of it being appetizer offerings. We decided that the "small" plates are really where they shine. Halloumi was one the best plates of food I have ever had. The sharpness of the cheese with the sweetness from the apple salad was a perfect combo. I do think the kitchen has a slightly heavy hand with the salt and the mushroom paprikash entree was way over salted. They change the menu up regularly with seasonal offerings. I look forward to returning for another food adventure.

An incredible and unique dining experience. A beautiful atmosphere with an open bar concept, height and light, an eco aesthetic with white and lots of plants. Delicious selections, culminating in a medley of global fusion flavors, bound to satisfy any palate--plant-based and flesh-eating diners alike!

I'm just blown away every time I visit comune. It's probably my favorite restaurant in Columbus. I brought my boyfriend for his first time. I'm vegetarian and gluten free, he's not, but he loved it too. I love that it's a small space, lots of plants, and servers are always so helpful. They are quick to explain things from the menu that can seem overwhelming. I've never had a bad meal here. This visit I started with the desert melange cocktail, a nice mixture of spicy and sweet. Since my bf has never been, we are still went with two appetizers: the tahdig and the seared halloumi. He still says "that rice dish (the tahdig) changed my whole outlook on things". Lol, I'm not sure what that means, but it's a good thing. The halloumi was delish too- loved the pairing with the roasted peppers. At first the plan was as to share a main dish, but he was so happy with the apps that he decided to get his own meal. There's always a nice mushroom option at comune, and I loved the mushroom confit. He got the grilled summer squash dish and of course thought it was great. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert, but we'll be back of course.

I went for my birthday and it was a wonderful treat! The flavors of the dishes were complex, bright and fresh. I love a colorful and healthy meal and even the textures were well mixed! It's been a couple weeks now and I am still thinking about the crispy rice appetizer with cashew cream, yum yum! I also had a lemon olive oil cupcake and it was decadent and fresh! The atmosphere inside was clean with lots of natural light and plants, and our waitress was super helpful in giving her opinions on what we should try. I'll definitely be back here when I can splurge a little. It was pricey but well worth it! It honestly made me feel like I was back in Italy and listen, I always wish I was in Italy.

As a carnivore I went to a purely out of love for my cousin but left smitten! The experience was peaceful, beautiful and delicious! Tips for me was the wild mushrooms with sofrito rice. Definitely did not expect to see sofrito rice on a menu here! The brown butter hollandaise was perfection. For dessert the chocolate tart was everything one should be: a firm, deep and dark, blanket of chocolate that you can just wrap yourself up into with accompaniments I would have never considered: a Sauvignon Gris with caramel and porcini cocoa dust. Washed down with amaro nonini. The service was also amazing, and the vibe cozy and intimate.

EAT HERE!!! I was so amazed by my dining experience here. I have never been to a vegetarian restaurant before. IT WAS GREAT! First of all, order the Oaxaca Colada. It is divine! Sooooooo easy to drink and tastes amazing We ordered the ricotta custard, which I was secretly worried about bc I don't love ricotta (or so I thought)... and it was my favorite dish. So creamy, it melted in my mouth. The flavors in that dish are the perfect match. The top sort of has a tangy tasting sauce... I hate sauce. I LOVED this one. The brown butter oyster mushrooms were really great as well! And the breads and spreads were yummy too. The mushroom spread was my favorite one... the others were fine. My friend got the glazed veggies and was underwhelmed. I didn't try it but it did look nice and vegetably lol. For dessert we got the dark chocolate cremeaux and we didn't love but the ricotta cheesecake was great! Would eat that again! Excited to go back and try dishes that we didn't order and especially excited to see what the next menu update will be!

It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.
