This place is absolutely adorable and so Instagram-worthy! What really keeps me coming back are the drinks. I love that the menu is inspired by Latin/ Hispanic flavors--it's a change from the usual coffee shop drinks and makes the experience feel unique. Everything I've tried has been delicious, and it's one of the main reasons I continue to visit. The only thing I have to complain about is the service. While I've always received my order correctly, I think the staff could be a little more welcoming and friendly. A warmer customer experience would make an already great spot even better. Overall, I still enjoy coming here and would recommend it to anyone looking for unique drinks, a cute atmosphere, and a fun place to meet up with friends.

Peppermint mocha (small - 12 oz)... for $9

Stopped at Con Azucar Cafe after watching a movie nearby and felt instant buyer's remorse lol Although super cute inside, this place is way way too overpriced. Probably to afford all the ig-worthy backdrops and neon signs. The coffee chain is also well-known for its giant conchas. I got a peppermint mocha latte in a small (12 oz) and didn't realize it would cost $9 (before tip) as the prices for their specialty coffees are not listed on the menu. Don't think I can justify returning, but I can see how it's a go-to for locals.

I remember stopping by on April 27, 2025, and asking if they had any gluten-free or sugar-free options. I wasn't asking them to reinvent the menu. I was just trying to find something that worked with what my body can actually consume. Instead, I got a pretty rude response and was told they wouldn't be making any adjustments to the menu. That's their prerogative, but it was disappointing. People have dietary restrictions for all kinds of reasons, and I was simply trying to work within mine. Because of that experience, I haven't been back and won't be returning.

Had a long line but it went by fast. The sandwich was delicious. The horchata latte was very flavorful. I will definitely be going back.

Way over priced for what you get the coffee was mid at best I think I got the dulce de leche latte and it wasn't bad but it also wasn't worth $9! That's honestly crazy for a latte. Also the girl working the counter could use some lessons in how to take orders she wasn't friendly or helpful at all. First and last time going here.

Three starts for the ambiance. We drove 40 minutes in excitement for Cafe de Olla My husband ordered hot - I ordered cold Both had a bitter aftertaste. I didn't t even finish mine. I did order the avocado toast. It was average. It was not toasted enough, but the amount of avocado was generous. I did appreciate that. The service was very slow. I think they were short staffed. We did have one of the last 3 concha's available. Tables were dirty. I did love the ambiance. I don't think I will be returning anytime soon.

What a gem! Con Azúcar in Modesto is such a calm and cultural spot--perfect for a relaxing breakfast or brunch. The ambience is warm, inviting, and beautifully reflects the café's Latin roots. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. We ordered the avocado toast and a torta de jamón, plus a cookie and an iced chocolate Abuelita--everything was so good. Fresh ingredients, generous portions, and full of flavor. The iced Abuelita was especially unique and nostalgic with a modern twist. Bonus points for super clean bathrooms and an overall spotless establishment. You can tell the owners take pride in the place. We'll definitely be back!

Best conchas and café in town. If you been to the one in Salinas and San Jose then you know Modesto is just as good. Known for their giant concha's and coffee mug. Love their multi-Latin flavored coffees hot/iced with a picture of your favorite Disney character or Mexican icon. Their torta de jamón is delicious with chipotle dip on the side. Went on a Tuesday late afternoon. It was pretty slow but constant traffic. On 10th St. across from Doubletree and Fuzio Bistro. Parked in the garage right across for $1.25 per hr. Wasn't sure about parking in the street. Might be more parking spaces available on the weekends or later in the day. Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend to check it out.

? Not sure . It was served with the torta

I decided on the Modesto location since the Manteca one is a bit more on the smaller side. I'm always on the hunt for a good authentic ham torta . I want to say they almost got it just like my small hometown tortas in Mexico . The pepper jack cheese and mayo tossed it off track . Get rid of the melted cheese and use crema Mexicana and it will be more up my alley. With that said it's still super yummy . It was served with a side of white sauce . I still don't know what it was . It tasted like mayo mixed with something else . 4 for the torta! I also went with a shaken brown sugar espresso it was a tad bit on the bland side but tasted refreshing enough. 3 . Service was decent . Straight to business and I totally prefer it that way . There was a simple greeting and then the order . I did have to clean my table before I sat down and there were other clean tables but I wanted the corner one . 3 min after I sat down the other tables were being wiped down so they are on top of the cleaning ! What I did not like was that it was stuffy inside . Possibly an AC issue .

This place is so cute and delicious! Food might be a little overpriced but the ambiance and service is great. The food and drinks were amazing with so much flavor, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

There were limited quantities of each so I'm not sure if they have more things on the weekends, which would totally make sense for a local small business on a random Tuesday. Parking is easy once you find it and although the inside is very small there are a few chairs and cafe tables perfect for a duo. Nonetheless, we left with a good haul and got one of almost everything: Red velvet slice, Carrot cake slice, Chocolate Mousse slice, Chocolate brownie, and Lemon bar. They also had a sheet cake, a small pack of cupcakes and cake pops in a separate case, so I wasn't sure if those were preorders or display or available for purchase. Here's what I loved: THE BROWNIE. One of the best I've ever had! The lemon bar was also delicious, super tart and perfectly baked. I'd get either of those again! Customer service was very friendly, prices were clearly displayed and fair, and the portions were good sizes. Here's what I just liked: The cake part of the red velvet, mousse, and carrot cake was a bit dry. They were beautifully decorated, the frosting and fillings were great, but the cake itself just wasn't as soft and moist as I was hoping. Another Yelper mentioned sticking the cake in the microwave and I wish I would have tried that. Definitely a small business worth supporting!

Upon entering, I was struck by three things, how friendly the worker was, how hard the door was to open (I do have mobility issues on occasion), and how little there was on display to choose from. Still, I found a couple of nice items (red velvet and some serious chocolate cake) my wife loved the chocolate but we found the red velvet to be quite dry and hard. I suspect that it had been in the case far too long. Fortunately the chocolate was so good, my wife said that it more than made up for it. Overall, the ambiance was simple bakery, nice folks, serving well. I suspect where these nice folks shine is in pre-orders (which makes TOTAL sense, as foot traffic, particularly in this bakery's location would be a tough sell indeed). I suspect that we will be keeping Dessert European Cakes and Pastries in mind for our upcoming bakery needs.

However, if your not local and purchase from the vendors in the bay area, then your prone to the time it sat at the bakery, travel time to bay area and how long it's been sitting on the shelve before you bought it. Did that! the product went bad the next day! We happen to be in town and stopped by. This was our opportunity to visit for awhile because we moved from Modesto to the bay area and we always bought here when we were local. We requested pandesal on the rack. I wouldn't think that be a problem if a customer requested that versus that already packaged, mind you that it's not every customers expectation, so do it. I'm a Manager in Customer Service so this was the test because the last visit a while back was off and about the same with the same exact aura on the front-end and I just thought maybe it was that one day. There was asian woman and white woman at the front counter. The white woman approached and we requested. Then for some reason the asian woman responded with this attitude that it was fresh and brought out. I could tell she got irritated because she disappeared to the back and never seen. The white woman rung us up, but then you can tell she was brushed off with the same attitude of the asian woman and she rung us up so quickly to get us out. This was similar to our last visit from a year ago and I still remember that visit! Ambiance is great on the first minute before you enter with the aroma, but once you make contact at the front counter and make requests. Good luck! The 3 stars here is strictly the hopia and pandesal we bought that were amazing. The customer service was deteriorated by 2 stars. Just want to make that clear!

I even told them I don't like buttercream because it's too sweet and that I didn't want it anywhere on this cake. When I placed the order, they asked if they could add a little buttercream to the outside for texture. I said okay, but only a tiny bit mixed with the whipped cream. What showed up was all buttercream on the outside with zero whipped cream. When I asked about it, they told me it was whipped cream. I know what I'm tasting, and so did my guests. It was definitely buttercream. The inside was even worse. There was some ganache but barely any. The further we cut into the cake, the more buttercream we found. I did not want buttercream inside the cake at all. I barely agreed to a little on the outside and they didn't even respect that. The photos show it clearly. The further we cut, the messier and more uneven it got with just buttercream and buttercream. One slice had a thin layer of ganache with barely any pecans or caramel. Everything else was buttercream. I picked this bakery because I had a good experience with them the first time. The design looked nice, but the cake itself was really disappointing. Way too sweet from all that buttercream I specifically said I didn't want. I gave them detailed feedback with photos. Instead of owning up to it, the decorator got defensive. He said he used buttercream as glue to hold the cake together. But that doesn't make sense. If ganache worked fine as glue on my first order with them (which had no buttercream inside at all), why couldn't he do the same thing this time? He just chose to use a lot of buttercream instead of actually following what I asked for. I even sent more photos pointing out exactly where the problem was. But they still insisted it was whipped cream. My guests noticed it too. So are they lying? Management offered me a 10% discount on my next order. That doesn't help. I paid for a cake that didn't meet what I asked for and it ruined my event. I asked for a 50% refund which seemed fair. They read the message but never answered. Just complete silence. If a bakery is going to charge premium prices for custom cakes, you need to actually follow what the customer asks for. I was crystal clear about what I wanted. That's literally the whole point of a custom order. They like to ignore customers when there's an issue. I was ignored at first, then only responded after I pointed out how unprofessional they were handling things. That's when they offered the 10% discount. But the moment I asked for a fair 50% refund, they ghosted me completely. No response, nothing. That says everything you need to know about how they treat customers who have legitimate concerns.
