When I saw the doors shut & a sign in front, I thought a childhood favorite was closed for good. Thankfully, the sign told me otherwise. I've been coming here since the early eighties. I get the same thing each time: 1 beef patty, one coco bread. Can't go wrong with these two. Piping hot, flaky patties with the right amount of kick. The coco bread is perfect; soft, pillowy, buttery. My wife told me she hated beef patties, so I took her here a few years back. Now she loves patties, but she's partial to the bread. The service is horrible they don't greet you they always in the back and when they actually do come to the front of the shop they have a attitude. The ladies always throwing your change in your hand. They are not friendly or welcoming when it comes to dealing with this establishment. I went to this location multiple times and always get the same result which is horrible service I will never come here again. This place is amazing! I visited Morisiana in the Bronx in August and my friend Anne said I had to try the beef patties & coco bread here as they are the best! I bought 3 my first day in the Bronx and they were so good we returned later in the week to buy a dozen. They are a "Baker's Dozen" - so you get one free (so 13). Wow, these are infinitely better than the beef patties I get here in Florida, which I like, but nothing like Concourse Jamaican Bakery. I should have brought some home to give to the nice bakers at my local Publix in Florida! By the way, the peeps running this store are terrific. What a gem of a hole in the wall tiny store. Sometimes when I come here for my veggie or vegan patty with Coco bread the coco bread isn't cooked all the way, but when it is that thang HITS! I'm so glad that this bakery exists. It's the only place that makes me like the Bronx. Their veggie patties are amazing and have a nice spice to it which I feel is unique to this store only. I've tried a patty from Rich's and it doesn't compare. You can just tell everything is made fresh and with love. In the same vain you can tell when it's made without love. Prices are reasonable. I was so used to getting my authentic patties from uptown in the Bronx but ever since I moved near Yankee Stadium, I've been in search for a restaurant that served delicious patties. After extensive research and the taste test, I must admit that Concourse Jamaican Bakery has some of the most delicious patties I ever tasted and its a must to eat it with the coco bread!
