I went to this Bakery by mistake , Thinking it was part of Veniero's .... I was very happy and excited for trying theirs delicious pastries ....... It wasn't the case. The day was Xmas eve , came here with my husband to get dessert for our Xmas Dinner. A young lady "helped" us .... Her service was off .... My go-to for shareable baked items (especially PIE) in Harlem! Can't beat an adorable and delicious apple pie for 10 bucks. Man o man! Pray for my waistline ! So many delicious options but, the lobster tail was calling my name! I had the option of choosing a custard or, cannoli filling and decided to go with both- when in Rome! Honestly, I have not been here myself yet. Only my family members have, so I cannot really speak on their customer service. What I can say is that their cakes are consistently disappointing. Every time we order sliced pieces, they are always stale. Not once have I tried a slice and felt satisfied. I remember one time my youngest sister got a red velvet cake for her birthday, and we could not even finish it. The cream was not terrible, but the cake itself was incredibly stale, worse than anything I have ever had. Just recently, we picked up some slices last minute to bring to a cousin's place we had not seen in ages. We were so embarrassed after taking a bite because of how horrible the cake tasted. Guys.... so I'm a big time biscotti connoisseur and always on the hunt for the best. My boyfriend grew up in the Bronx and the last time we drove to visit his mom he took me to Morris Park Bake Shop. I have never seen a larger array of biscotti in my life! They must have 15 DIFFERENT KINDS! From original, to cranberry walnut, to my absolute favorite which is typically hard to find called the JAWBREAKER biscotti. So biscotti is originally quite hard since it's twice baked, but the jawbreaker - true to it's name - is triple baked so it's extra hard and crunchy. It's truly the best I have ever had not only in New York but in the United States! As far as other pastries here, I wasn't impressed. Would've given 5 stars for their biscotti but I tried the rainbow cookies and chocolate covered pretzels which were both just blah. But please please order the jawbreaker biscotti. I thought the cookies and biscotti were pretty good.... definitely tasty, but nothing that really blew me out of the water. The really rock hard almond biscotti was probably the best. However, I just didn't feel wonderfully safe in here. I walked in and the man toward the back of the shop had no mask on at all, and another female staff member had her mask down under her chin. Only 1/3 staff members had their masks on which isn't really great to walk into. Additionally, they're cash only. It's whatever, I know plenty of places do it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get cash to get something here. If I already have cash on me, that's fine. read more

A wonderful neighbor of mine knows that I have a mean sweet tooth, especially when it comes to chocolate. I was told by them that this particular bakery has a vast selection. I told them I'd always loved chocolate mousse, but hadn't had any in years. For my birthday in January of this year, I was surprised by my neighbor with the BEST cake I've ever eaten. I love their fruit tarts. This is a very old school Bakery located at Morris Park Avenue. My friends at Einstein used to buy cakes, cheesecakes or fruit tarts from here for our birthday celebrations . Thats how I got to learn about this shop. Good thing is: they have a huge selection of sweets. I am not a sweet expert but been to the shop physically once, there are plenty of options. And they all look yummy! I just love fruit tarts when it comes to sweets and their tarts are very fresh and tasty. The crust has a distinct buttery taste that I like. And I can eat the whole small tart at one sitting! My only issue with them is they work with cash only. I mean why?? at this age, how many shops are left as cash only... I just can not wrap my head around why they wont accept credit cards... Do yourself a big favor and go to Conti's a few blocks down. Ordered a cake cause I needed it last minute and it looked nothing like the cake I ordered. When I called them out on the mistake they got defensive and started giving attitude. Kept telling me that's not what we discussed when clearly they showed me different sprinkles when ordering but put something else on my cake. They were also like "I'm not the one who helped you"....please take some pride and ownership of your store and work....horrible service. I think I've consumed enough Italian pastry to know what's good and what's not. While I'm no authority figure by any means, Morris Park Bake shop just doesn't do it for me. MPBS is really old school - walking in is almost like stepping back in time. They have a good variety of pastry and everything looks really clean - all things that speak to me. However, I really don't think their baked goods are the best. Their stuffoli are big and puffy, where I personally prefer them to be firmer. Also, we got a cherry pie from them but it lacked flavor. To add insult to injury, there were barely any cherries in the filling - just a lot of that viscous pie filling binder. On a positive note, their chocolate cake is very good - moist and lots of chocolate flavor. I really wish MPBS put out better product because I love old school Italian bakeries and they're fading fast. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon for their bakes though, you're better off going elsewhere. I may however come back in the summer for some ices, and maybe some chocolate cake. read more

I love this bake shop... love it-- BUT (oh here it comes), I got a stale cake!! The cake was stale, the frosting was grainy, the fruit looked old... what happened? We had to throw the cake away. The worst part, it was for my brother's birthday. I've never seen him more upset. It was a horrible day for him and he was looking forward to the cake bc it was from Morris Park Bakery, and we've been getting our pastries there for over 3 years.
