I hired Concrete Creations SD to improve a tree box in my front yard, replacing some old rotting wood with bull-nose brick. Luis communicated well via phone and text, and came out to my house to measure the tree box and provide a quote. He also measured the existing bricks on another tree box in my yard so that he could find bricks to match. On both days of the project, Luis and his coworker showed up on time and did excellent, careful work. I love how they cut the brick into little triangles to make the corners look good. The tree box looks amazing and is a big upgrade from what I had before. The price was exactly as quoted, and Luis gave me a receipt showing the material costs. We paid on time, referred my mom (which you did not follow up with and she over paid for just demo work), and gave you a good recommendation to a new project which you had mentioned gave you the business. We just want to have the final finishes completed. (Gate, plants and small chips) I believe my mom already moved onto another contractor. If we don't hear back we will have to reflect your unfinished services on a business review. Luis and crew completely transformed our front and back yards. They did an amazing amount of work and we're very happy with the result. We gave Luis a rough idea of what we were looking for and he provided a lot of guidance on design throughout the project and helped us get what we wanted. Backyard: Concrete was completely demoed and replaced. New steps and walkways with proper drainage were poured. The side yard was leveled and a new fence with retaining wall was added. Turf was installed and they even put in all the new plants. They added DG on the side also. Front Yard: The front porch and walkway were demoed and repoured (requiring porch roof support). The yard was graded and all existing plants and bushes removed. They added rock borders with DG and planted all the new trees and bushes. Luis and his crew were great to work with. This is a long overdue review. My husband and I moved into an older home that needed some TLC. The driveway and garage had some significant tree root damage that could be seen, but we didn't realize how invasive and the roots were until Luis and his crew came in to dig it up. Luis came onsite for a bid and gave us a quote quickly after. We decided to go with him despite how busy he was because we got a good feeling based on how he explained the process and his bid was on-par or slightly lower with the other contractors we had come out for the same project. An update after a while having the driveway. I wouldn't recommend adding a color to your project. The colors turned out uneven throughout the driveway so it does look like there are dark spots in some sections and light spots and others that are very very noticeable. Luis came over in April, and provided us with an initial estimate for pouring a concrete patio, hot tub pad, and pathway. He was right in the target of what my husband had been researching, and he seemed like he knew his stuff, and he was very mellow yet experienced, so I told my husband that this was the guy. I also found out he did more than just concrete, so we asked him to come and look at our whole yard, as we were wanting a major overhaul of the back yard. He gave us an estimate within our budget for what we were looking for, initially, so him and his team started about 3 weeks later. We had them grade our whole yard, as it was complete uneven due to years of neglect, and a lot of gophers. They poured, stamped, and sealed a beautiful patio/hot tub pad, steps, and three different barriers to divide the areas. They also helped my husband transplant our very large bamboo. They laid decomposed granite with stabilizer in two areas, and mulched another area. Our yard is transformed and desirable thanks to Luis and his guys. This is hard work, and they worked diligently to make everything look fabulous. I'm thrilled to finally have a yard I want to be in. We ended up going over-budget, but that was because we kept asking for more, but we don't regret it at all! read more

We finally decided to replace our original construction concrete driveway so we searched for and found Luis and his brother here on Yelp. He responded to our querry in mere moments and was here the following day to assess the job. He sent us a (Very competitive) quote the next day and was ready to start work by the following Monday (He was ready sooner but we took the week end to discuss!). Luis was the easiest contractor I've ever worked with and effortlessly understood all of my design goals. After tearing out the old driveway I decided to replace the drain pipe while we were at it and Luis gave me a quote that I couldn't refuse and he even worked it into his schedule so that our end date did not move. He never (And I mean NEVER) missed a schedule target or made us wait or changed the quote with some lame "Oh, such and such problem just appeared..." excuse. On the contrary, we asked him to expand a couple of the concreted areas and he just made it happen. All of the above would be pointless if the result was trash but his work was comensurate with his work ethic: everything was expertly done (Including the plumbing!) and we just love our new driveway. Luis and his team were great. We a decently complex pour with a driveway that was half on the slope and half like a bridge over a walkway. It required a lot of careful demolition and reinforcing of the structure that would support the upper section. The prior driveway was incorrectly sloped and Luis paid attention to ensuring that the slope would run properly. The walkway and retaining wall turned out perfect and the wider path is safer and graded properly now. South Coast Waterproofing did the waterproofing before the new concrete was poured. They were accommodating on schedule and timing. Pricing is fair. Also, bring your ideas and talk through the build process. It helps to be involved in the work to get the best outcome. I probably saw his team every day for nearly a month as we moved through the various part of the build. Will miss their team! A bunch of great, hardworking guys. I highly recommend Luis and Concrete Creations. I hired them for a front yard project that most people would consider fairly "major," involving the excavation of several tons of dirt, regrading of approximately 750 square feet of soil, pouring of a concrete driveway and creation of some small retaining walls. We had done work on our house before, but this was by far the largest project, and I was a bit nervous about how it would go. I received bids from three different contractors. All of them were knowledgeable, but it was Luis who stood out as the most honest, straight forward and detail oriented. A couple times I asked him about options that would have been more expensive and made Luis more money on the project, but he explained to me why he thought the lower cost options would be better. Luis' bid was also reasonable. So, we scheduled the project with Luis to start about three weeks later. For the ten days it took to do the work, Luis and his guys showed up on time every one of them. During the excavation, a valve connecting to the water line cracked. Luis and his guys fixed this immediately at no additional cost (it was not an expensive repair, otherwise I fully would have expected to be charged). Luis came up with design elements as the construction progressed that really impressed me and enhanced the project. Every day, they cleaned up their mess and put away their tools. On trash days, they even rolled out our trash cans, since they were hard for us to get to with the construction. Of course, the most important thing is the end result and I am beyond pleased with that. We wound up with a gorgeously patterned colored concrete driveway, some very nice retaining walls and concrete steps, a new wood fence and a planted hedge with irrigation, all compliments of Concrete Creations. It is obvious that Luis and his guys know what they are doing and also that their knowledge extends beyond concrete (the wood fence was very well built and his guys set up the irrigation and fixed the water line with no problem). Luis and his team just completed a project to replace my old driveway with a full concrete one. They completely removed the two existing concrete strips and the all the pebbles that made up the driveway, and dug into the soil to lay new concrete. Luis was detailed in explaining what they were going to do and why they were going to do it, taking into consideration some drainage concerns I had. They showed up promptly every day to do the work. He said the project would take three days, and it was right on time. At my request, they moved some of the pebbles from my driveway into my front yard to supplement the existing hardscape there, and nicely groomed the area. Do not hire this contractor and if he is working for you, fire him immediately. His license #829635 and his bond expired December 31, 2021. Doubtful he has liability or workers compensation coverage. We used Luis for two previous jobs and were mostly satisfied. We hired him to build a block wall starting Jan. 24, 2022. He did not complete the job and left behind concrete blocks in front of our patio slider, dried concrete and damaged the front of our house and landscape plants. Because of our past experience, when Luis asked for advanced payment we trusted his integrity and paid for most of the job before completion. Luis did not respond to our emails, phone calls or text messages. I am in my early 80's so having this disgraceful mess left in my backyard has created a physical hardship for us. It is just now over a month since all the work was completed and I am extremely satisfied with their work/craftsmanship and responsiveness throughout the work time period.
