This is truly in the middle of nowhere. The types of places that are getting harder to find. This is a gas station with an ice cream shop next door that also serves some to go food such as burritos. Great Thrifty brand ice cream and a wonderful selection of coffees. This is a very welcome respite when on the road. The ice cream shakes are all great. The coffees are a perfect pick me up. So many choices to choose from. But what stood out to me was the date shake. Yes I know date land is known for their date shakes. But just a little way further east is this gem. Their date shake is so much better. Better taste. Better size. Better price. Do yourself a favor and skip Dateland if all you're stopping there for is the date shake. Travel another less than 20 minutes and come here. You won't be disappointed. Even better. The bathrooms are among the cleanest I've ever seen. Always clean and supplied whether inside or out. 118° in the desert, broken down on I-8, towing our R-Pod. Vacation dreams: over. Enter Conde's Towing out of Sentinel, AZ. And, it was the Owner Reuben that got the call. Referred by Allstate with NO coverage but what can you do. We waited LESS than an hour, got our full rig loaded and hauled into Yuma. For a shitty start to a 2 - week trip, this sucked for 3 hours in, but Conde's made it less stressful. Thank YOU and I hope we never meet again. This used to be a one pump fuel and bathroom stop. Now it's a small Chevron, and burger stand. The old fuel station is an ice cream shop and a fenced in lot of u haul trailers. I didn't check if it was the same family owners. The single cellular tower on the property that was an income source is still there. Bathrooms are clean and neat. Progress Update: They don't have burgers yet but are specializing in cold things like ice cream treats and the Favorite of the desert highway Traveler, Date Shakes made from date fruit from date trees grown in the desert. Gas is $5 here ! More expensive than California ! Good thing I filled up only enough to stop at the next gas station that's cheaper

Missed the exit for Gila Bend 28 miles to the east. Got off here instead, not knowing what else was ahead - didn't want to chance it so reluctantly filled up for $4.99/gal for regular gas. Word to the wise, do your homework before hitting I-8. If you're in a bind, then get what you absolutely need if you have to get gas at this rip off gas station and fill up elsewhere for $3 and change down the highway. The Chevron in Gila Bend, 28 miles away, is $3.39/gal - not sure how the same gas magically costs $1.60/gal more 28 miles away. Even gas stations in CA or NY aren't this expensive. Price gouging ripoff. $125 for 25 gal of gas... unreal. read more

Honestly great stop. Do yourself a favor and take your stretch/snack/bathroom break here! Clean. Can confirm an old puppy behind the counter. & Caden (Kaden??) at the dessert cafe was nice and cool. He told us about the oldest train depot in the US that got relocated outside the stores. Selling jarred ice cream was his idea--inspired from his US travels. Only pieces of feedback is to add seat covers in bathrooms and yummier cones for ice cream. :) Will likely be stopping here on the way back. read more

Really amazing burritos!!! I got the Egg and Machaca (dried beef) and the tortillas were delicious. Coffee was good too

What a great little gas station! Everything is clean and looks like it is a brand new store. Attendants were friendly and told me they were the 3rd generation to run the gas station. Great selection of snacks and drinks and clean bathrooms! They also recently opened an ice cream shop on the other side of the building. Would stop there again! read more

Much better stop option than the other roadside rest stops. Appropriately named "Middle of Nowhere"!! Great roadside stop that I unfortunately have bypassed a number of times. I'll not let that happen again. Restrooms very clean and stocked, many snack and food offerings that looked very fresh. The entire store is clean, well stocked and well presented. Staff is very pleasant and friendly. Dirt lot across the road that appears to be available for RV parking. Diesel fuel is available, higher priced than in Yuma but less than at the station a few miles down the road. read more

Conde's Middle of Nowhere, literally in the "middle of nowhere," is the best Chevron gas station between San Diego CA and Mesa AZ. Clean gas station, excellent squeegees, clean and neat convenience store and clean restrooms. Friendly service with a smile and definitely feel welcome, comfortable and safe. 24/7 fuel and tow service available. Store open 8a-8p daily, closed Saturdays. You might miss this spot if you don't put it in your favorites, or make it a planned stop along your journey because there's "nowhere" to turn around if you do miss it! Right when we thought, "Man, we are in the middle of nowhere and we NEED to make a pit stop!" and as luck would have it, a perfectly placed sign saying Chevron next exit, and it was REALLY the next exit. My only critique of this place, is y'all need more signs saying next stop ahead, like a couple of miles out because it was seriously right before the exit (haha)! Typical desert prices, but this store stands out because of the number of restrictions: "No refills"; We sell the cups ( for Soda); if you try a refill you will be charged for the size of the cup, etc. I asked the clerk about the restrictions and if they had a lot of things stolen; at first they said there had not been any thefts, but then said things like toilet paper and door stops had been stolen from the restrooms. That doesn't explain all of the signs--maybe a sign asking people not to steal toilet paper would be appropriate? The restrictions seem unnecessary for a retail business. If I could post zero I would. We spent $40 on food and drinks plus filled up with gas. I needed a couple of cups to distribute the drinks for my kids so I ran back in to get a cup. The stingy woman said I had to pay $2 dollars per empty cup even though I had already spent a bunch of money there. We were on our way to Phoenix, AZ and my son had to use the restroom. We had no choice but to exit and stop at the nearest restroom. So we stumble upon Conde Gas Station. I'm not going to lie, I was hesitant at first and literally questioned my husband if we can go somewhere else but my husband still went in and took my son to use the restroom. Of course, my son all of sudden didn't need to use the restroom after seeing a popsicle. So he told my son after he uses the restroom that we can buy him a popsicle. When they were getting ready to pay, my hubby realized that he forgot his wallet in the car. The owner (Grandma) kindly said; it's okay your son can have it. My husband told me what happen and I was so touched by the whole scenario that I went inside and paid back the kindness that my son received. After having a conversation with the owner (Grandma), I realized that I should always tell myself to remember when they say..... "Don't judge the book by it's cover." read more

Anyone who gave this place a bad rating is a garbage human being. Everyone was nice, they had a gas station dog, and the prices were fine. Best of all, the facilities were VERY clean, which was a pleasant blessing since I forgot to mention to my husband that I had to pee until after we passed the previous exit. read more

We stopped tonight on Memorial Day in hopes of using the bathroom. We stopped and almost drove off because it was closed but everywhere had signs about a restroom being opened. The restroom was AMAZINGLY CLEAN! We have never stopped anywhere with such a clean restroom. We are so glad we stopped there! Had to stop here along our drive to use the restroom. While the store was closed on Saturday's, they still allow travelers to use the restroom and have lots of signage indicating that. The bathroom was extremely clean, and gas wasn't too expensive. You can tell they take pride in their business and want customers to have a good experience. read more

I gave it one star for the lovely lady who works inside. However, if zero was an option, that's what I would give the owner who rides around in a golf cart berating actual customers that he is the owner. After purchasing gas as well as beverages, he chased us off his property. If you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, go further. read more
