I was given a referral to CVPT after my bi-lateral mastectomy, because they were considered to be the pros in Lymphedema and LDM (Lymphatic Drainage Massage) and Breast Cancer Rehab. Due to Covid-19, my first few visits were virtual, but once they were able to open up I was excited to get to work and feel better. I had never been to Physical Therapy, so I did not know what to expect. All I can say is that I am so very grateful to everyone at CVPT...especially Tessa and Ben. Tessa, my Physical Therapist, was so kind, caring, and extremely knowledgeable about the body. She always took a lot of time with me and and made me feel as if I were her only patient. I can't thank her enough for knowing exactly what to do to get me back to feeling myself again. I have known of Conejo Valley Physical Therapy through friends and recently decided to give them a try for balance and strength issues related to a medical condition. I figured that since I'm working from home this would be a good time to try their telehealth PT. Boy am I glad I did. Jennifer and Nathan are amazing. I can't believe how much we are able to do and how much improvement I'm feeling just using common household items. Nathan is so creative in finding ways to identify my weaknesses and then create exercises to strengthen them. I can honestly say that I feel better than I've felt in years. Messed up from the very first appt. Was told my appt. Was change...i asked who changed it..and why was i not notified...answer...i do not know...but we called you..they read me a phone number back i have never heard of.....so we proceded to re schedule (i was not happy already) we discussed payments...they looked them up and came up with a number for me that was( out of pocket )20 × more than my insurance required. .. i was ready to cancel all appts. Right then and there..so i could contact my ins. To find out why it was not covered...after saying that and picking my keys up..ready to leave..the person said...let me look some more...bingo...now it was just a 10.00 office visit...asked what changed all the sudden...no real explanation. They state UP FRONT..REAL BIG...REPEAT even.."they will not/do not bill ins. For the supplies you might require)....ok..i get that..and can live with doing it myself..their booklet says they will help with the receipt..and invoice..info..etc. you might need. SHOULD YOU DECIDE TO BILL YOUR INS.....which i did( Their ace bandages are expensive)..so why not try right??...i asked for a full receipt for the 85.99 worth of stuff i had to buy for treatment....was given a printed paper..that stated how many 10 cm x ??( Name of bandage)......and cust paid...no codes..numbers. etc....i told the person this was for inn reimbursement was it enough info?...told it was.....got home..called my ins. Yeah!!! The covered 80 percent...but NONE of the necassary info was on Their INVOICE...and that is where the real fun began...they did EVERYTHING they could think of...blaming people that were gone...to...the person will be here tomorrow...to. I'm just not going to discuss this with you...bottom line...they know how to apply ace bandages...IF THEY GET YOUR APPT. CORRECT...they DO know how to appropriate your $$$...they do NOT do insurance well (in my case w/out being pressed to actually DO IT).....and last...buying supplies WITH EXPECTATION your insurance will reimburse you(mine would have)..good luck...this place made me feel like i was buying dope out of the trunk of their cars...and refused to help/give..or Even give me a reason why they would not give me the info needed from my insurance comp. Sounds/smells like they must be doing something illegal..is ALL i can think of... Ended up...they did not like my INTONATION....i was reimbursed for everything from them...and we parted ways..do yourself a favor...go somewhere else....this place should be in san francisco.. read more

Following rotator cuff surgery, a neighbor recommended that I go to Conejo Valley Physical Therapy for PT to regain use of my arm. I was treated by Jennifer and Tess. Both have excellent academic credentials and extensive experience in PT. Jennifer owns the practice and has more than 30 years experience in PT. The post operative treatment I received for my rotator cuff injury restored the use of my left arm. I completed eight treatments for one month. I was provided with written instructions for continued home excercises to restore the strength in my arm. Following my shoulder therapy, I also asked Jennifer to evaluate and treat a back problem I have had for many years. Jennifer treated my back problem during three visits, provided written instructions for home exercise and fitted me for orthotics for my shoes. The orthotics will help align my legs and relieve soreness in my back. The exercises Jeniffer prescribed have improved mobility in my spin and reduced my back soreness. The entire staff at CVPT are outstanding. They are very nice people and very considerate of their patients. Most importantly, they are pros who really understand what their doing and eager to help their patients achieve the best possible results. Every few years I have back spasms originating from an old sports injury. When I had my latest bout, I gave CVPT a call and they got me in the next day. They treated the injury over the span of about three weeks until the symptoms were relieved, and gave me exercises and stretches to limit the risk of future reoccurance. Throughout my care, the staff was always professional, and dedicated to getting me back on my feet. They were extremely caring! It's for this reason that CVPT has been my wife's and my Physical Therapy provider for the last several years, and that I have recommended CVPT to my friends and colleagues countless times over. I should also note that the recovery period from this last set of spasms was a little longer than usual, which prompted me to see an orthopaedic spine surgeon just to confirm that I was on the right track. Conejo Valley Physical Therapy is wonderful ! Jennifer Vonarb, the owner, was a miracle worker. I was diagnosed with bursitis in my hip. When pain medication, ice and a cortisone injection neglected to relieve my pain, my doctor recommended Jennifer at Conejo Valley Physical Therapy. She thoroughly examined and evaluated me. Her diagnosis was that my lower back was out of alignment which originated in my pronated feet. This, in turn, caused my hips to be misaligned as well! (That whole "every thing's connected" thing ) She proceeded to work physical therapy "magic" on my legs, back, and hips! After about a month, I could walk without pain and continue to do so!!! This was accompanied with suggested prevention exercises that I can perform at home! Her staff is also extremely warm, welcoming and encourage you every step of the way!! read more

Devastating best describes our experience with CVPT and Jennifer Vonarb. Our daughter is suffering with lymphedema ever since her surgery for stage four cervical cancer. Her sister flew from Florida to be with her for her initial visit with CVPT. At this time, Ms. Vonarb was one hundred percent reassuring and confident about how helpful CVPT treatments for lymphedema would be. I also flew from Florida, committed to helping out during these two weeks of treatment. Our first appointment went normally with MLD treatment, wrapping and physical therapy; however, upon coming home the wraps around the toe came undone. We did our best to rewrap, but they continue to come undone until a third of the wraps drag on the ground and there is no way for us to rewrap. We return the next day for the same procedures. At this point my daughter is seen by a different therapist. After leaving treatment, we stop to do an errand. Walking to the car afterward, my daughter's wraps start to bunch and slip around the knee and ankle, and this was only fifteen minutes after our appointment. so, we call to see if we could be seen again. When Ms. Vonarb comes into the room the first thing she says is, "I don't think we can help you here." "Due to your expectations".....etc. "We just don't see these kinds of wrapping problems with our patients." We are totally shocked and dismayed. Does Ms. Vonarb think my daughter is deliberately sabotaging her own therapy? We don't know what to think, but after the third, "I don't think we can help you here," we realize this is over. Such a total change of attitude is shocking. Ms. Varnarb raised my daughter's expectation to believe she would find help and relief from her treatments, but Instead of helping someone in desperate need, Ms. Varnarb and her establishment gave up, blamed and rejected my daughter. Truly unprofessional and unforgivable behavior. read more

Jennifer, Tess and the rest of the folks at Conejo Valley Physical Therapy are fantastic! My wife has ovarian cancer, and as a result of many operations, her lymph system has been severely compromised. She has Lymphedema swelling in her right leg. When we arrived at Conejo Valley Physical Therapy her leg was extremely swollen, and after treatment, two weeks later, was normal size. We had appointments at Conejo Valley Physical Therapy every day for the two week period. During each day, Jennifer worked on my wife's leg using lymphatic massage and bandaging wraps. The effectiveness seemed almost magical, her leg grew smaller every day. After this successful outcome we realized that we would have to maintain this process at home. Jennifer told us that Lymphedema is a chronic (lifetime) disease and that it was very important for her to teach my wife and me how to successfully maintain control with home care. This she did, showing us how to do the lymphatic massage and how to use bandaging wraps to move the lymph fluids in the swollen leg into functioning areas of the lymph system for elimination. My wife and I are both impressed and grateful to Conejo Valley Physical Therapy and especially Jennifer for her professional, caring help. I've been seeing Joanna for over a month for back problems. She's amazing. Most of that pain probably came from bad posture, and bending down and picking up items in the most improper way possible. She suggested that I buy new shoes. Best investment ever. Every appointment consisted of her applying pressure on the most tense parts of my muscles, doing cardio as a warm up, stretching, and ending it with an ice pack. Fabulous, professional and great results. I walked in with swelling in my legs that has been chronic condition that i was living with since major knee surgery in 2014. I had tried everything from extensive exorcise and other PT treatments however no joy. Jennifer assessed my condition and set up a three day series of treatments. I have dealt with chronic knee issues for most of my life. I underwent my first knee surgery when I was 15 years old. Over the years I have experienced aches, pains, and limited mobility, all of which I thought to be "normal" considering the amount of trauma my joints have faced. I learned to live with it and went about my life as best as I could. A little over a year ago I began to notice these "normal" pains had progressed and I found myself almost completely unable to bend my knees. Stairs became my worst enemy and my quality of life, for the time, was feeling compromised. I am a professional performer so as you can imagine I NEED my body to work with me not against me. Along with these aches and pains came swelling. Again, something I originally though was just a part of the package when dealing with knee problems. However, this swelling was different because it stayed. For the past year I have been struggling with chronic swelling in my left leg, sometimes getting so big I could wear my pants or shoes. I went to doctor after doctor trying to figure out the problem and every single one either had no clue why someone my age (I was 29 at the time) would have this or just brushed it aside saying it was a consequence of all the surgeries and injuries I had in the past. This led to a year of severe frustration as I watched my body get worse and worse. You know that feeling you get when you just know something just isn't right? Well, that's what I felt with my leg so I decided to give it one more shot and finally found a doctor who pointed me in the direction of Jennifer. My very first consultation was like a God send. After evaluating me, Jennifer was able to tell me exactly what the problem was and how to fix it. It was like music to my ears. I was diagnosed with Stage 1 secondary lymph edema (sounds super scary, but it's not that bad). I was wrapped and after four days, when I came in to be unwrapped, I was amazed with results! My leg had gone completely down and for the first time in over a year I saw my ankle!!! I have been coming here a little over a month now and For both my lymph edema as well as my knees and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I am getting stronger! The staff is so friendly and great so I actually enjoy coming to my appointments. What I love about Jennifer is she is direct and extremely knowledgable in her field. As a stage 4 metastasized cancer survivor, I have lymphedema, debilitating, lifelong side-effect from cancer surgery and radiation. Lymphedema requires hands-on, daily care for life. There are only 2 places doing lymphedema physical therapy in the Valley. I had seen one place and they were now full so I attempted a new place, which was Conejo. I had a consultation which went extremely well, the owner, Jennifer seemed experienced, competent and eager to help me. She said after the consultation, I would need to schedule 1-2 weeks of appointments for daily bandaging for lymphedema treatment. When I went back in for the first bandaging apt, I was told a variety of confusing things about the bandages, first, that they would have to order them because they didn't have them, which made no sense because 3 weeks or more had passed between my consultation and this apt. Why would they not have ordered or had on hand whatever I needed? Then they scurried around and asked each other questions and eventually said, well we do have the bandages you need, but your insurance won't be billed so if you want to submit it to your insurance, we can order the bandages for you but you'll have to come back when they come in. This is making less sense. I have no idea why this is, it's been 3 weeks since I was here before this apt, why wouldn't you have told me something like this during the consultation instead of waiting 3 weeks till the 1st day of bandaging and now you are telling me we may or may not have the bandages? Eventually with more discussion back and forth I said, I'm here today, my mother flew in for 2 weeks from FLA to CA just to help me, I can't wait till these are ordered or put through insurance so I tell her I can't afford to wait or loose time for this treatment to start. So I pay for them out of pocket and miraculously, we proceed. The wrapping goes fine. But they didn't provide or warn me I would need a special shoe. You can't leave with bandages around your foot, so they find a plastic bag and tape it around my foot and lower leg. REALLY? 3 weeks they had to tell me to get an orthopedic shoe to wear during the treatment period and they couldn't bother to tell me that? Unprofessional, unsafe and counter-productive. Upon getting home, I remove the plastic bag to see the lower bandage around the foot had come loose. My mother helped wrap it up as you're entire leg from top to bottom is bandaged like this, it's nearly impossible to bend or reach your foot. So she fixed it temporarily. Throughout the early part of the day following, the lower bandages continued to fall off. It got tangled and was a mess, we no longer could fix it. These are supposed to stay on for 24 hours, a couple of hours in, this had already happened. I stumbled through the rest of the day and night and returned for the 2nd apt. The owner, Jennifer, who had done the 1st apt with me was oddly, not the one seeing me even though she was there.I was seen by the other physical therapist. The receptionist/tech unwrapped me, then the other physical therapist did my wrap. They both did a lot of "hmmm ohhhh, I don't know?" when they first saw the bandaging. After the 2nd person did the wrap this time, Jennifer walked up and said, how did it go? Not good, I said, it came 1/3 unwrapped early on and was a mess. She literally just turned around and walked away. We leave to do a nearby errand, the wrapping has already collapsed around my knee area and is slipping down. It's rubbing in a huge bunch behind my knee in less than 1 hour. We were still nearby so I called hoping they could take a quick look at it and maybe fix it. We were fine waiting, but they became uncomfortable we returned. Jennifer ushered me into a room and said, you can't come back here like this, I have other patients, I can't do this, I can't help you - we've discussed it and we can't treat you here. I said, if the same person did the bandaging each day and could see how it was working it would be more productive, she said, I don't operate my business that way. She NEVER tried to help, troubleshoot or find out why bandaging jobs were ineffective - after being insistent she could help me and waiting almost a month for this apt, she said, there is nothing we can do here for you, we can't help you. Never in my life have I been treated so badly and unprofessionally by someone in the medical profession. She wasn't interested in hearing from the patient what-so-ever, always in a hurry like the place was on fire and she had to get out. She doesn't interact with patients or care if she's effective or not, if it doesn't work day one, sorry goodbye, we can't treat you here. So unprofessional, business ethics are extremely poor, patients have no chance of being treated like a human being. The only thing worse than having lymphedema is being treated like this during therapy on the 2nd apt. Run, don't walk, AWAY from this place, anywhere would be better! read more

8 years ago, I had a traumatic ankle injury requiring surgery to implant a metal plate and to repair all of the soft tissue on the inside of the ankle. That injuy combined with being blessed with completley flat feet has left me with a cronic swollen ankle. My surgeon and 3 others with whom I consulted suggested that I live with it and be happy I can walk. But my ability to do the things I enjoy to stay in shape has been steadily decreasing. I was referred to CVPT by a friend (marathon runner with injuries from time to time) to help with the swelling. I did a three day treatment to reduce the swelling, was fitted for both compression socks and custom orthodics, and taught some basic excercises I can do at home. Jennifer and the staff were both patient and sensitive to my time issues. They got me in and out and were extremely professional. Though my ankle continues to give me trouble, I am significantly better because of the thoughtful care I received at CVPT. read more
