Took the pooch for follow up ear evaluation. The doc fixed pooch up with ear gunk and another shot in addition to take home meds. Darn pooch and them ears, yearly infection. Made another appointment to get pooches teeth cleaned as well. Chick Ching you know but pooch is a an expensive friend to have around.

    Diarrhea with blood

I live in Oxnard and my Blue Heeler puppy had blood in her vomit and diarrhea. Her mouth was also foaming and saliva was dripping. My puppy was getting lethargic. I called around the Vets and emergency vet hospitals in Ventura, Oxnard and Port Hueneme and no one would help. 2 of my dogs that live in Newbury Park are with this clinic. I called Midtown Vet and Julie put me on hold to check with Dr. Thomas and was able to squeeze us into their busy schedule. Dr. Thomas did x-rays for both the upper and lower portions of the stomach and gave my puppy an anti-vomittimg shot. At 10:30pm, my puppy Koda solved her treat puzzles and wanted to play ball. Thank you very much Julie, Johanna and most specially Dr. Thomas. I love all the artwork I'm your clinic and it made me a little cheerful during a situation when I thought I was going to lose my 10-mo old puppy, Koda.

I called 5 minutes before they closed for my dog Leopold who was having a medical emergency. What an amazing team of humans. They are so incredibly kind and helpful. I'm so grateful They waited until we got there and were able to see Leo promptly, and with some medication and instruction from Dr. Thomas Leo made a full recovery in just a few days. Thank you so much for all that you do for the community.- From one grateful dog Mom and Leo Thanks you too!

We've been going to Midtown Vet since our for babies were first born. Which means 14 years. And all three of our dogs have been taken care of by Dr. Thomas. He continues to do excellent work. He's always taking the time to talk to us. Even if we didn't want to hear what he said when he told me that my littlest one was a little bit overweight. No one wants to hear that. LOL! But my three dogs are healthy and happy and still with us. In my opinion, if you're looking for A great vet, you couldn't do better.

What should have been a fairly routine procedure turned into our worst nightmare! Our sweet baby had an abscessed tooth that required medical attention so we brought her here. We were told that the tooth had to come out due to infection so we left her to get the appropriate care which meant anesthesia was to be administered. My wife asked if it was necessary and if an alternative might be possible (twilight or something similar) but was told not to worry that this was standard procedure. The extraction was performed at approximately 10:45AM. We received a call around 2:45PM that we could come and pick her up at 4:00PM. Shortly after we recieved another call to actually come back at 5:00PM instead because she had not yet awoke from the anesthesia. My wife arrived at 5:00PM but was told to come back closer to 6:00PM. We both went back at 5:50PM and had a feeling something was wrong because she still had not woken up. Dr Thomas sat and talked with us and it was at that moment I realized we had made a mistake. His lack of compassion was apparent and even as my wife began to weep he continued his cold explanation regarding the procedure. We both asked if she would be better off leaving her overnight but what he said next floored us! He said they do not have an overnight staff and if we left her they could administer an IV but there would be no one to monitor her situation. So basically they will perform a surgery but do not have staff to monitor overnight. Could you imagine taking a human patient to a hospital and being told they were not staffed to monitor patients overnight? We said we would take her home so we could keep an eye on her while she wakes up from the anesthesia. Dr Thomas ensured us once again that she would be fine and to keep an eye on her overnight, keep her warm and not to let her lay on her side. We agreed and what he said next has stuck in my mind ever since that day. He proceeded to tell us that if she didn't make it that it was due to the infection and "good luck"! Really? You're now telling us she may not make it? Good luck? Well we took her home and finally around 9:00PM she began to stir but kept trying to lay on her side so my wife picked her up and layed her on my wifes chest which calmed her down. About an hour later we noticed she was having trouble breathing so we rushed her to T.O. animal emergency hospital but unfortunately minutes before we arrived my sweet girl passed away in my arms! I hold Dr Thomas and his staff fully responsible for her untimely passing! We basically paid this man $1100 to euthanize our baby which was not our intention by any means! I should also mention that she was healthy with no other medical issues prior to this. To be in a profession where people bring their furry family members to them in times of medical needs require compassion and understanding! Dr Thomas lacks both and this being the case, in my opinion should retire! I have told this nightmare of a story to our family, friends and coworkers and will continue to spread the word to anyone that might ask about an establishment to take their pets for any type of treatment to not take them to Midtown Veterinary Clinic! I would also like to add that we received a call from the office the next morning to see if we would be bringing her in for a follow up but broke the news that our sweet girl had passed. Not one call to offer condolences from Dr Thomas. This was almost one week ago. If you require the need for pet care, this would be the last place I would recommend.

I went in on a Saturday morning for new Patient appointment w my 11 year old 3lbs dog that has been suffering from a really bad uncontrollable itch /rash that has been misdiagnosed few times now by other vets. She also had ear infection. Dr Thomas was amazing & very knowledgeable , he explained everything , treatments and why, and he was very sweet w my scared little Honey. So it's only Monday & I see a difference in my Lil girl already . I'm so impressed I will be coming back with my other dog for her check up & shots . Staff is also great & friendly, & prices are good, but we really can't put a price on the love & health of our furry family members.

I was looking for a groomer who could be extra gentle and be able to deal with my very fearful dog…read more, Honey, who bit the first groomer we tried. We thought she would have to be muzzled or sedated to get groomed. This turned out not to be the case with Maimai at the Grateful Groomers. This groomer and her helper have a gentle, friendly manner that made Honey feel comfortable. They did a wonderful job with Honey.

First off I want to start by say I'm big on customer service and how people text and or talk to me…read moregoes a long way. What you are not about to do is talk to me side ways on text. Okay so I was initially scheduled an appt for my dog for May 13, let's not forgot I was never given a time to begin with. I text the business since this is how they like to communicate asking if there was an available spot today or tomorrow because I may have a scheduling conflict. I received a response stating I'm sorry, we don't have anything available until next week, so I'm thinking to myself cool I can perhaps reschedule for next week. So I asked what days she had available. Response back was It would take a lot of shuffling of the schedule to accommodate a different appointment for your dog as We service your area very infrequently. If you can, please keep what you have. Okay so I'm thinking to myself why tell me you have available spots and now telling me as a customer to keep what I have?! Strange so I tell her I have a scheduling conflict and may need to change the appt to a different day. Response back was I will get back to you. I'm not sure we will be able to continue providing services for you as your schedule is constantly changing and as I explained, we service your are very infrequently. I'm thinking to myself my schedule isn't set in stone and most definitely not mine things change and things come up. My response was you said you had availability next week and can she let me know the days as I may have a scheduling conflict as I mentioned before. A delay in response but she text back stating I will get back to you. I understand, but if we can't accommodate the changes it might be best to find someone that is in your area more often andhas a more flexible schedule. By this time I'm a little irritated with all this back and forth, just let me know what you have available and I'll decide the rest. Next text response is Our office opens at 9AM You will hear from me after that. Again I'm thinking to myself why are you responding to me before your business opens now all of a sudden you want to communicate at 9 ugh ok. Some Of the things she is telling me is uncalled for so I tell her that. I asked whom I was talking to and she said Heather I'm the scheduling and operations manager. I gave her some advice on being more professional and having a business mindset. No way to talk to customers, well text since this is all she does, someone is giving you business and you want to get snarky? Received another text after I told her about being professional, the text stated I am canceling your appointment on Saturday and will not be rescheduling your dog. No further services will be provided. Have a nice day. I couldn't do nothing but laugh. Truth and fact of the matter is have some business etiquette even if you are texting and accept the feedback I gave you not cancel my appt and being mad shows your unprofessionalism. Less is better over text and all that extra you was telling me wasn't necessary. I'll gladly take my business elsewhere. Have a blessed day and work on having a business mindset.
