Nice local spot that has been around since the '40s. The menu is simple, sliders, coney dogs, and chili. You can add fries or chips and a milk shake, ice cream, or cake for dessert. I had a cheeseburger, ham and cheese, fries, and a malt. It was good to try a place that has a history and is quick and convenient. The restaurant is open late and is close to the Convention Center Downtown, so if you are looking for someplace different from the hotel restaurant to eat, this is a good place that is within walking distance (although I went in December, and even though it was only a block away from the Courtyard, we drove). read more

I love powers This place has been my go to place for sliders since I was a kid, it unfortunately was closed for a while, and since then and has been slightly renovated. The inside feels very diner-esque with you seeing the cooks as they make your sliders, and the workers are friendly and talkative which is a very nice addition to an already great feel. read more

I ordered 3 double cheeseburgers with slightly extra onion and I think one of the cooks was having a bad day because they probably put at least a half pound of onions on each burger! I could only make it half way through the first burger, before getting physically sick! I ended up throwing the first burger in the trash, as well as the other 2 burgers! It was obviously someone either having a bad day and taking it out on me or someone trying to be funny, but it was quite clearly an intentional action! The worst part about it I'm out $15 (including tip) and the EVEN worst part is that I had to drive a 2.5 hour round trip from Lima, Ohio, just to try Powers and then get humiliated and then robbed! Haven't been here in years. Went close by and Husband said "let's give them another chance it's been years" SOOO we went n ordered 12 double cheese AND check this out. They now have hot, crispy and yummy fries !! I was a happy camper about that. Took about 25 minutes to get out food. I will regret eating in the car for awhile. Lol We will definitely get the hot fries again , however, yes there is a however, the sliders were mushed up in the bag so bad you had to peel the wrapper off and some pieces were stuck in bites of the burger. The pile of onions I took off were as big as the burgers. The double cheeseburger was like a giant compressed meatball. There were teeny tiny remnants of cheese ,but no real taste of cheese. We took the other8 burgers home , where I did scrape some of the overly cooked onions off. Slight taste of bitter burnt onions. Well the fries were good, the fountain Pepsi was good but the burgers , sad to say not like they used to be. The car and our clothes and coats will suffer a few days from the onion smell. Powers Hamburger is a Fort Wayne staple. While under new management, recipes have remained the same. Burgers are slider size and prices are reasonable ($2 for a cheeseburger). Grilled onions come standard. The burgers are tasty, perhaps with just a bit too much yellow mustard for my taste. Lays chips and chili make for the perfect additions to any meal. While there is a lot to like about this place, there are a few things I'm not a huge fan of. Because this place is a locals place, servers expect you to know what you want when you walk in - even if it's not busy. And some of the locals are not particularly friendly either. However, the cooks were cool and efficient. The grilled onions make it hard to dine inside. My eyes were burning after only being in there a few minutes waiting for my to-go order. My last visit, I stated the burgers were missing the razzle dazzle of yesteryear and were on the thick side. Plot twist, the original Powers thin smash burger is back and just as good as ever! I stopped in this week to get ONE burger- I was in my WIMPY( Popeyes friend) era! I did pay though! LOL!! I was feeling nostalgic having just driven by the old closed location on Maumee Ave! We used to frequent the Maumee location with our grandparents as a Friday treat and I was feeling like traveling memory lane. I sat and ate my ONE burger with the caramelized onions, fresh warmed bun and it was as if I was sitting with my grandparents at their house. It was the Powers of my memory and it was absolutely delicious- same great taste- absolutely the same great burger. The staff was cordial, I'd venture to say, playful and energetic. I felt warmly welcomed even though they laughed at my ONE burger order. Before I left, I took several more home to enjoy with my family. *This review is for market place location* To be honest, I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars... I think my expectation was way too high because my friends hyped it up wayyy too much for me. But to rate the food and my experience setting aside my bias, the sliders were what they are exactly supposed to be. Perfectly seasoned, super moist(it felt a bit wet for me), lots of caramelized onions that adds sweetness, super melty cheese and the beef that didn't have any beefy smell(means it's fresh!). Also? Cheese slider for 2 bucks? I say that's pretty cheap considering the current cost of food. The staff were super friendly - they didn't have to, but they were "ma'aming" me the whole way thru(I must look old..sniff sniff). The market place was super hip too, and you can get so much other stuff to go with your beer - my choice was locally brewed beer and I'm probably chase the burgers with some ice cream afterwards. I flew in from Arizona and my sister suggested Powers Hamburgers as they have reopened with new owners. I ordered two cheeseburgers and a bowl of chili. Ashley the waitress was friendly and attentive! The burgers and chili were AWESOME with a low price and the atmosphere was great! I'm from California, but I was born in Fort Wayne. I moved away when I was young and never had the chance to try Powers despite many trips back. I was fearful that they might be something like White Castle. I was completely wrong. They' nothing like White Castle and they're a true original! That's rare these days. They didn't disappoint. I'm an onion lover and they pack a powerful onion punch. We have good burgers in California (including the home of In-N-Out), but I'm happy to report that Powers can hold its place on the pantheon of great burgers! And, when it's late night, there's not much that can compare. Oh, and the general manager Brandy was fun and amazing (The sailors say Brandy you're a fine girl - but I say you're a fine GM!!). My larger-than-life nephew, and his charming wife, along with my identical twin brother and his beautiful wife, had the whole place singing and clapping for customer's coming and going. First time for me to have Powers and I must say that I loved it. A friend grabbed some for me, while he was there and I'm glad he did. It's really strange, but the best way I can describe it is to say it tasted like actual beef. Not like a typical fast food burger, with so much salt or seasoning that you can't taste the meat. I ate lunch here today; my buddy and I got the powers pack. That's 12 burgers for $24.00. It was as if they cut one four ounce patty three ways to make burgers. The meat patty was not the size of a pickle chip. This was the first time we had eaten here since the ownership change. There were not enough onions on my "regular" burgers with everything (ketchup, mustard, onions) either. Very disappointed. The service was as to be expected here. They are always slammed busy at lunch so not much room for pleasantries. It's a business keep it moving. Also they don't open till 10 now. And they close at 9? I have been coming to Powers for almost 61 years. I have tried the 'White Castle' and the 'Crystal" restaurants and found that they do NOT have the flavor of Powers. An honest to goodness onion burger!!!! The meat is very flavorful as well. I have also had the chili, it is less tomatoey than many commercial chilis and I prefer their chili to almost anyones. Moved to Fort Wayne a few months ago and as usual started exploring the local restaurants. Then the covid 19 closed most of them down. Except for the occasion carry out Chinese and pizza delivery its been trying to eat "healthy " at home. My wife,who escaped from the Fort years ago told me about Powers. We put on our masks and gloves and pulled in to the parking lot. Evidently it has been a downtown place to go for cheap burgers for decades. It is "Greasy spoon" that is fairly clean but shows it's age. All of the customers were wearing masks as they waited for their burgers or chili. The cooks and workers did not. The staff did not wear gloves and the "lady" that took the money dropped the "F" word after hanging up from a telephone call. We ate our greasy burgers in the parking lot. They were covered with slimy fried onions. I like greasy food as well as the next guy but these were ridiculous. Topped with oily onions that tasted rancid and the slimy burgers were nasty. We couldn't finish the order. Many of the reviews compare Power's burgers to White Castles. No way! I never walked away from a bag of Castles! read more

However, I found the inside to be dirty, the burgers were extremely greasy and the paper the burger was wrapped in was covered on the inside with mustard and catsup.
