They have one of the best burgers in the area and the Greek fries were to die for. The milk shakes are definitely kick ass

We got a smorgasbord of stuff (of which items I can't even recall right now, but at least one entree salad and drinks), all of which was excellent. Even our picky daughter enjoyed herself. Solid 5 stars! Today, on my way through town on a work trip, I figured I'd stop in to replicate the magic. I opted for the short rib grilled cheese and subbed out the fries for the side of Brussels sprouts. After ordering, the food was out in about 10 minutes flat. Not a reassuring sign out of the gate... The grilled cheese was supposed to have caramelized onions. Now, I'm NOT a raw onion fan, but I can generally tolerate caramelized or fried onion strings on stuff. As you can see in the photo, the onions are NOWHERE near the color they should be to be caramelized. Sauteed? Sure, but they still had a good amount of crunch to them so not even that deeply cooked. Most of the onion leaves were still connected at the root. Also (and fortunately for me and my onion-loving self), the other half had maybe 2 very tiny pieces of onion. The short rib was done quite well and very tender but came in large chunks instead of being evenly distributed throughout the sandwich. There were also a couple rather large pieces of fat in them that was just too much to try and chew through that I had to spit out. The server was very upbeat and kind though and the inside of the place is amazing. Such a cool vibe. Overall, that's one amazing experience and one less than stellar. Being a mid-week lunch, I'm going to assume the A team wasn't on staff so I'll give the benefit of the doubt. I'll definitely come back for dinner another time for sure but I might look elsewhere for my lunch...

I had the seafood trio: scallops, lobster tail, & crab stuffed shrimp. It was accompanied by basmati rice, carrots, & asparagus. I wish when I cook my basmati rice turned out that perfect. We didn't like anything. Everything was flavorless, and over priced. We had the firebird's duranjo burger. Nice size, but over cooked and not seasoned. The parmesean crusted chicken, although a nice size and cooked perfectly again no seasoning, expected to be able taste the Parmesan crust, nothing.. We both upgraded our side to the southwest au gratin potatoes. Au gratin potatoes a creamy jalepeno cream sauce sounds like a flavor bomb, NOPE, the potatoes were under cooked and not sure how you manage not to get flavor out of jalepeno cream sauce, but they did! The crispy cauliflower with the jar sweet chili sauce was probably the best thing we did have. You can get brunch all day so, I ordered the hipster toast, and I was pictured cat fished. Mine was nothing like the picture, although I appreciate they didn't build the toast for take out and allowed me to do that myself. Still, there was maybe 7 little little cubes of avocado, no pickled onions, no spiced pecans, no parmesan cheese. What I did get was a piece of toast with goat cheese, then a box of arugula, 7 pieces of small small avocado, candied bacon pieces, radishes and heirloom tomatoes. Basically a 17 plus salad on bread. Totally a waste and not worth it. I will say though, the cilantro lime vinaigrette was delicious. But spending over 90 bucks and only enjoying a vingerette and cauliflower, won't have be coming back. Maybe ordering on Superbowl Sunday was a mistake, but I'll never know.

The restaurant is much larger than it appears from the outside. Once you head through the first dining room and down the steps, you're greeted by a warm, homey dining room with a surprisingly spacious bar. It has a comfortable neighborhood feel, and the staff was friendly throughout our visit. Our cocktails arrived in about 10 minutes, and the hush puppies followed about 20 minutes later. They had a nice flavor, but were much denser and chewier than I expected. The bigger issue was the wait for our entrees. With the restaurant not appearing particularly busy, nearly 50 minutes for fried chicken and jerk chicken felt excessive. The good news? The chicken absolutely delivered! Both the fried chicken and the jerk chicken were packed with flavor and easily stole the show. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy, while the jerk had a wonderful balance of seasoning and spice. Those dishes alone made the meal worthwhile. Unfortunately, my mashed potatoes arrived warm instead of hot. After such a long wait, I was hoping everything would come out piping hot, and that side just missed the mark. Cole slaw was fresh but pretty boring in the flavor department. I really wanted this to be the five-star experience that so many others have had. While this visit didn't quite live up to the hype, the quality of the chicken showed why Pineapple Eddie's has earned such a loyal following. We'll happily give them another shot someday and hope they earn that elusive fifth star.
