Rice wasn't fresh. Chicken in Thai sweet chili wasn't fresh. Beef fried rice was with ground beef and stale rice, no egg or vegetables. Pad Thai was straight noodles and chicken. Tried 4 different dishes and each was noodles/rice and chicken. Big portions of cheap filler. So sad. read more

This place is convenient to the highway, and seems to be a small family type restaurant. I had the chicken hot pot, but it was not exactly when I was expecting. It was pretty good, but not crazy about the chopped up bone in the chicken meat. It didn't resemble the other pictures I saw of their hot pots. Typically when I have had hot pots at other places they have a bit more of a ginger flavor and roasted garlic etc in the mix. Tasty Bowl is right off the thruway. It is a spot that is both welcoming and delicious. We were greeted right away by Sandy who ended up being our server too. She was extremely friendly and helpful. I wanted her to come sit and join us. I ordered the spring rolls as an appetizer. They were good. I also ordered a iced green tea, which came in a bottle. It was flowery. I drank it, but I didn't love it and I don't think I would order it again. For my main entree I decided to go with the szechuan menu. I ordered the spicy chicken. It was very good. I asked for it less spicy and Sandy asked the kitchen to accommodate. Sandy also let me know that the chicken wasn't what I was used to and was just chicken and rice. Vegetables didn't come with it. They have a really creative method of contactless pickup, and the wait time is pretty quick. The soups and edamame were nothing special, but the bowls were excellent. I got the Tasty Bowl Roll Bowl, which I was surprised to find was actually a sushi roll in a bowl. I thought it would be kind of like a poke bowl. It was so good! The sushi itself seems to have been turned into tempura, adding a nice crunch to every bite, the cream cheese was of course creamy, and the eel sauce was great, as eel sauce tends to be. I will note that the bowls that have spicy Mayo really have a LOT of Mayo--personally I hate Mayo, so to other Mayo haters who sometimes deal with it fine on sushi, stick with the eel sauce bowls. read more

Visited the location during our drive from Ohio to Upstate New York. As we are Asians, we wanted some genuine Asian food (e.g., authentic Chinese), which we thought was not possible. We were complaining inside our car about the limited selection of food available from our cross-country trip from NY state to CA back in the summer of 2008. That was 15 years ago, and Tasty Bowl to the rescue! After reading reviews on Yelp and the internet, we gave the place a try to our delight. Although my family members complained a bit about the possibility of MSG(which is pretty much the norm for American Chinese foods), I personally thought the place was one of the better or very good Chinese restaurants I had encountered here in the U.S. in 2022~2023. It might be one of the best you can find in the Midwest! I especially liked the hotpot with fish, as its taste was shared on a Yelp comment. Not too spicy, a bit sweet, but with sufficient quantity, the provided rice was consumed with gusto. Even the restroom was very clean, which is not always the case for restaurants you find in remote places. All in all, I left the place very satisfied in terms of consumption and the knowledge that I found a great place to visit when passing Erie, PA. Thanks, Tasty Bowl. Perhaps we are biased because my mom is 1/2 Chinese; however, this food was barely edible. My dads General Tso tasted like literally nothing but sugar with a little bit of hot spice added. The fried rice was just rice fried in soy sauce; no veggies etc. it has no taste.
