I had to place a last second order for flowers to be delivered to a wake for my friend's mom. So lucky to have come across this wonderful business. After the initial phone call with Malen, everything was done over text. She reassured me the flowers will be delivered on the same day, and payment could be sent via Venmo. The prices for sympathy flowers are 200, 150, or 100. I chose the 100 arrangement. I can't tell you if the arrangement is nice because I wasn't able to attend the wake, but listening to the honesty in her voice, I'm sure it was beautiful... Call it procrastination or living in the moment, I chose this spot because , A) it was close by from where I was in the city and B) it was close by from where I was in the city. But I couldn't help checking this place out simply from the name. And of course on a day like Mother's Day, everything was going to be at least $50-100 for a bouquet of roses so why not see what Confucius had to offer me. Upon arrival it was somewhat bustling with activity and the staff was friendly , greeting me and asking if I was looking for anything in particular. I gave the smile and pointed inside. As I entered it was no different than any florist I have been to , a good variety of flowers, plants and roses of different colors . But what I really loved was the mini goldfish bowl by the counter because they had those cute multicolored fat bellied gold fish (I use to have many of those myself). I loved petting the fish (weird I know) and how they tickle your finger when they think it's food ... but I digress. We're talking flowers people, pet shop review coming up later. The lady making the arrangements was friendly and told me to choose my flowers for a custom arrangement. My mother's favorite flowers are tulips, so I called to ask how much they would be, and they said $3/stem and free delivery (the florist is about 30 minutes walking from my house). After taxes a dozen multicolored tulips came out to just under $40. My mom received them today and she was delighted with them! We were expecting just normal tulips but they threw in some peony ones and one fringed ones as well, and my mom said there were 15 stems total even though I'd only paid for 12. read more

Alice messaged me to apologized and to made sure she was aware of the staff member who spoke rudely to my mother. I decided to give them another chance and went to look for Malena as suggested. The customer service was absolute super the second time and it almost felt like we were in a different store! I ended up ordering from them and they honor the prices that we agreed upon through private message. If every staff member has the same positive and helpful attitude as Alice and Malena, this shop would be full of praises. The only small downside with the purchase was that two of the boutonnières were missing pins so we had to scramble last minute at the restaurant to find pins - luckily the restaurant had a bunch otherwise the guys wouldn't have been able to pin the boutonnières. read more

Warning, do not order your flowers here, walk-in retail is ok but pre-orders will be lost, forgotten and overpaid! I ordered 15 rose boutonniere and a few orchids for delivery a week before my grand-opening event. On my event day, they were late so I called them and to my surprised, they lost my order and I had to run to their store a few blocks away to sort it out. They apologized due to a new employee error who only worked 1 day and quit the next. They should have done more to contact me or make-up for it. They did deliver my order late but very underwhelming and not up to par for the amount I paid. So lesson to be learn, call vendors the day before to confirm and check but it left my first experience with them very bad. Will probably never order from them again. read more

I needed a floral arrangement to be sent to a funeral home in New Hyde Park and after several unsuccessful calls from that surrounding area, I reached out to Confucius Florist as a last effort before I was going to bite the bullet and pay the robbery prices of other florists. Malen was amazing from beginning to end. We started with a basic phone call and wind up with several text exchanges and then she followed up with the order via phone. She helped me choose an arrangement size that was suitable for my needs and was able to text me to give me an idea of the different designs/sizes. I stopped by the shop to pay the costs and I can tell it's been the local florist for many many years. I love walking into a florist that is completely green and everything is blooming and booming. There were many customers and she greeted each and everyone with a welcoming smile or a familiar call. Malen is just as nice in person as she is on the phone. A big thank you to Wendy and her crew for making beautiful corsages/boutonnières for my friends and I. These added such an appealing aesthetic touch to our prom photos. Prices were so good, $14 for a corsage and $7 for boutonnière. Those are for rose corsages, orchids would be a little more expensive. These prices are as good as it gets others places would make you shell out $30-$40 for these. The flowers were pretty dead by the end of the night but it was expected. I was even able to change the color of my ribbon two days before I was scheduled for pick up and they were very accommodating about that seeing as how it was prom season and they were very busy. Wendy will give you her best input as to what kind of corsage will match well with your dress. Only flaw is that they're cash only (which is really not bad bc you can leave a deposit and there's many banks around the area). read more

One lady look at me and made eye contact and went about her. business. She didn't bother to say "hi someone will be with you" nada. Very rude since I was believe I was white old male with a bag or groceries . I asked her how much are the flowers outside , the only flowers outside mine you. She was so dumb and didn't know her inventory and asked me, "which one?" I pointed to the flowers there and she said 12$. I handed her a credit card, "15.00 minimum ". Told her I don't carry cash, she said ok, give me card. Annoying and rude , and I live in the area since the late 70s This is my second interaction with this dump. Beware: there are no prices on anything. She wanted to charge me 65.00 for a dozen of roses that were not even a bouquet, but still in a box of where I can get for 20.00 at a whole food in Tribeca. Quite helpful, and they take Zelle payment over the phone. This florist has a direct relationship with the Chinese Wah Lai Funeral Home. I spoke a bit of broken Chinese over the phone to place an order of sympathy flowers for a funeral service. They do accept credit cards over the phone for payment plus fund transfers through the Zelle app. I chose Zelle since it's easier. The woman texted me photos of what they'd be creating for the service for me. They were also willing to do this with less than 24 hours notice, which I really appreciated. read more

Cheap affordable prices, especially compared to other outside-of-chinatown florists. I got two wedding corsages made here for my mom and MIL, and they were very well made and well worth the price. The reason I'm knocking off a star is because the ordering process in-store was just really annoying and off-putting. For my first visit/inquiry, I requested carnations for the corsages, and Wendy convinced me to upgrade to roses. Fine. When I return the second time to actually place the order, I request roses (as initially recommended), and the associate (not Wendy) gives me grief about choosing such a "cheap" flower, my choice of color, whether I asked my mom about it (?!) and whether I was sure she was ok with it (?!?!). I understand trying to upsell, but her pushiness and downright patronizing attitude made me want to walk out of there, but alas, a $9 corsage is about as cheap as you can get. read more

Prices were unbeatable- 23 bucks in total for a corsage and a boutonniere! My date and I got white rose ones and they were beautiful. We got them Friday night even though our prom was on Saturday because we didn't have time on prom day. We kept them in a refrigerator and sprayed water on them and they lasted until Friday evening, so basically just in time for our photos but not for prom. I live in Phoenix and was scrambling to send my sister, who lives in New York, flowers because she was having a terrible day. I've passed by this flower shop multiple times but I never went in because I rarely have to purchase flowers. The ladies working here were extremely nice and I had a nice conversation with them. They are very helpful and put together a beautiful corsage for me. It looked exactly how I planned. The wire used to put the flowers together scratched my hand quite a few times because there was a sharp edge left from cutting the wire. If I could give zero stars, I would. Wendy has retired. I worked exclusively with Marilyn. Called Monday n placed order for funeral wreath to be delivered Thursday. Misrepresented capability of fulfilling my request. Gave a photo sample (from a California florist's creation I purchased) n explicit instructions on colors, flowers. Basically no hindrance on cost. Quoted $250 before taxes. Promised 2 dozen light yellow roses, white mums for base instead of carnations, with light color orchids as highlight. Specified 3 colors only for creation all pastel or light in hue. No other colors n to use complementary colored silk grosgrain ribbon to encircle the white mums underneath. What I got was a garish monstrosity. White ribbon horribly crimped around the round base n it was explained to me that she brought in yellow mums to enhance the ribbon. No 2 dozen roses as promised. You can even see gaps between the white mums because she simply did not use enough blooms. I asked only that the arrangement not look flat but lush n bountiful. I texted that I was very, very unhappy about the outcome. When I asked what happened n expressed that what was promised was not what was delivered -- I got a nonchalant response n no offer to make good. Will never use them again. I'd have done better just going FTD, except I was hoping to deal with a local florist who would be able to deliver n deal with the funeral parlor in Chinatown. If you want amateurish flower arranging at highway robbery prices n last minute substitutions of cheaper flowers n garish presentation -- then by all means give them a go.
