This place feels like something out of a movie. Whenever I go in, the people I meet who work there are exceptional. They are attentive, genuine and great at what they do. All of the plants are fairly priced too. This place is truly something special. read more

Reunited and it feels sooooo good! The last time I was here was in February, which felt like eons ago (I mean, TBH, 2020 feels like five years packed into one). Anyway, I digress. I'm so glad to be back because they got some really good stuff in. I saw string of spades, Hoya Kerrii (regular, variegated, splash), Hoya Macrophylla, Hoya 'Hindu Rope' Compacta, philodendron painted lady, philodendron red heart, and a few others that I can't name. Their uncommon/rare plants selection is quite good! I've never seen those aforementioned plants (except the string of spades) elsewhere. After much debate against the variegated Hoya Kerrii, I ended up getting a Monstera Peru. Its leaves are so thick and hardy in a rich, dark green color. I just can't take my eyes off of it and I had to take it home. Kinda glad that Joy's is sooooooo far away from me, otherwise, it's very dangerous for my wallet. read more

When I want my place to have some CO2 absorbing greenery, I come here to shop. Plenty of succulents, orchids, and some plants I've never seen before. Joy was very helpful in choosing and directing how to take care of the plants I got. There is a credit card minimum of 10$ plus an extra percentage charge, so best pay cash. One of the few flower shops in the lower east side that is affordable and looks awesome. Easily accessible with the F train to East Broadway or from the Grand Street station. read more

I came in and was asked for my price range, $20, and an older woman immediately started arranging the flowers for me, asking which colors I preferred as she made it. I pointed to a certain flower and she told me they were too old to put in. Caught me from giving my friend old flowers for her birthday! Both she and the young woman at the register asked me questions about who the bouquet was for and how long it would be outside. I could tell they wanted the flowers to last as long as possible. I did keep my friend waiting as I had the bouquet arranged, but she loved it regardless and it was definitely a well spent $20. By the way, the store accepts card! read more

Having shopped at The Sill (about a block away) prior to coming here, I can say that the prices are drastically different in a good way. The owner/employees here are personable and helpful. They also cater to customers that flow in from The Sill, looking for an inexpensive pot or for a plant that The Sill doesn't have. I stopped by to buy a plant for a coworker and I was greeted with questions and tips. They have a variety of pretty plant pots, and I went for a bright orange one. My plant was a gift and it was neatly placed in a takeout container, which made it look extra cute! (See pic pls!) read more

Short Story Amazing service and attention to detail Great arrangements Affordable prices. Will definitely be back here. Long story I came here looking for a terrarium and Joy was so helpful. She offered to make one for me fresh when I was looking at some of the display terrariums and at no additional cost. She told me to come back later that day and true to her word she had a beautiful terrarium ready to be wrapped. You could tell that she cared about her craft and that she is good at it. You could also tell that she really wanted you to be happy too and she wasn't just trying to gouge you like some other flower shops with these kinds of unique designs. While I was browsing I also saw that she has an incredible diversity of plants and flowers. You could probably find anything you could want here at a much better price. read more

This shop is a beautiful oasis in the hustle and bustle of the Lower East Side. I walked in and was immediately met with warmth from Brett, who helped me pick out an arrangement for a friend's birthday celebration. After chatting for a few minutes, Brett created an absolutely BEAUTIFUL bouquet, right before my eyes! It was fantastic and so special. I will be returning to Joy Flower Pot for every occasion! I gave her less than a full work day to make my wedding bouquet, a tight budget and honestly, a fairly wishy-washy description of what I wanted. She had the presence of mind (I came in at the very end of her work day) to ask what my wedding dress looked like, even though I had not told her that I was going to wear a dark floral dress instead of a conventional white dress. After giving her some inspiration photos and pointing at flowers I liked, we paid a 50% deposit and decided to come around at 1:30pm the next day. I wasn't expecting much, but even so, she absolutely blew me away with a sophisticated, special and Pinterest worthy bouquet. I'll be going back to her the next time I need flowers. read more

The cutest flower shop in LES! Came by on a Sunday afternoon with my local bud to get Joy's help on rejuvenating some of the house plants. With a quick glance, Joy was able to diagnose that the mini Money Tree was definitely underwatered and in major need of some additional soil. As for the succulents, she let us replant our entire pot, new soil, rocks, bark, and all! We basically had a mini terrarium class courtesy of Joy's supplies. All that, and she only charged my friend $15 bucks. This spot in a must-go for all your plant needs. 5 stars! read more

Joy's Flower is a gem! It's what local small business is all about as well. I always can count on Joy for any occasions that call for a centerpiece or bouquet and green needs. This past July 4th I called the store and turn out Joy needed to be at the store that morning I told her I need to pick up some flowers for an engagement party, she said she'll wait for me in the afternoon. I got there and told her what I was looking for and with her expertise she whipped up this gorgeous bouquet that I almost wanted to keep for myself. LOVE it here. Joy's just makes you feel good. I agree with other reviewers that note that Joy's is around the corner from The Sill but with more stuff at a fraction of the price. I love The Sill, too, but their prices are obscene. Joy's is tiny but truly overflowing with a wide variety of gorgeous plants and tons of really unique pots/planters. Joy and the other people who work in the shop are so kind and knowledgeable, and super helpful. They don't upcharge you for potting a plant which is a plus (looking at you, The Sill). They also have cool merch; I got a tote back with their name/address and Joy Division's album cover...it's SO cute. We will definitely be back. Thank you, Joy!! read more

Joy's shop is right along the route home and every time I walk by, I always stop and admire all the wonderful plants displayed. But not until yesterday, did I have the opportunity to visit and buy a plant. Lunar New Year is a time to spruce up the home, clean, etc. I was on my way to visit my family and I wanted to bring over a plant. Joy has so many wonderful plants, including terrariums, succulents, cactus, flowers, etc. The store is small, but cozy and friendly. Joy embodies her name, she is pleasant and helpful. She somehow sensed I was in a bit of a hurry and the place was packed with people on a Sunday afternoon. She immediately came over to help me and picked out a beautiful globe with moss and succulents ($18). I told her it was a gift and she wrapped it so beautifully and with care and love. Succulents are not to be placed in direct sunlight and can be watered minimally, once every 2 weeks. Joy's store is filled with people and all with smiles. I really enjoyed stopping by and I will sure to be back to pick up more wonderful plants that she has on offer. This is true gem in LES, do visit and fill your house with beautiful succulents, cactus. You will be glad you did! read more

This is THE place to go to buy or deliver beautiful things to your loved ones. Joy has a great eye and is patient and passionate about her work. Any houseplant collector must come here if they come to the city. They frequently have hard-to-find plants like Hoyas and String of Hearts for fair prices. Also the staff are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The elder auntie there is super sweet and always looking to help too! Highly recommend! read more

I love going to small flower shops with lots of character. This is one of those places, you can tell when walking in that there is a story to this cute flower shop. There are plants everywhere and incense burning it felt so tranquil. I went in not even knowing what I wanted to purchase and Joy was so understanding and helpful. She was so personable and gentle even after I changed my mind a couple of times! It was really great to have someone to help me build my custom arrangement. Joy went as far as to ask if I would be traveling far with the arrangement so that she could pack and secure it to avoid damage. In the end I was very satisfied with my purchase and her arrangement of the flowers I selected. Quick note: They do take card but I would pay cash because they charge tax on the cards. read more

My very first DIY terrarium was created in this warm & welcoming florist shop! Joy and her daughter were incredible with helping me through the entire experience from choosing succulents through to arranging and putting the finishing touches. She provided some guidance while ensuring I owned the creative process. They have a moderate range of succulents (dependent on supply and/or time of visit), and a large variety of terrarium decor (ie. sand, moss, seashells and even tiny figurines!). My finished terrarium ended up being very reasonable priced, and I even bought a beta fish which they sold on the side. Highly recommended! This will be future go-to for gift ideas and perhaps more DIY terrariums for myself! read more

I found this store on yelp and ordered some flowers for my brother's graduation. I specially told the lady to give me fresh flowers (as I saw they had all wrinkly flowers when I stopped to order it early morning, she said they have fresh flowers coming later the day). I asked her to mix and match me some nice white, purple, red, blue and yellow flowers and my mom would pick up later. And this is what my mom picked up: $40 for some old wrinkly flowers with dull looking color combination. I was mad but I didn't have time to go back to ask them to redo it. Will never return. read more

I walked not too far from my dorm here, and it was worth getting caught in the rain. It's very reasonably priced, and the ladies working were very nice and knowledgeable about caring for the plants. It was nice to have so many options, and have them wrap them up so they were easy to carry back. Definitely will be back to add to my collection of cacti and succulents! read more

If you've never been to Joy's, you have to plan it into your next visit to New York!! Joy and Marie are two of the loveliest people I've ever met. The shop is quaint and full of plants and life! Joy spent well over a half hour creating a terrarium for us with the plants we wanted until it looked just right :) the prices are unbelievable, especially for the quality of her healthy plants. I cannot stress how great this little shop was. The owner Joy was so lovely and helpful. I had originally come in to buy a succulent plant and ask about the option to create your own succulent arrangement as a gift to my friend. Joy's daughter answered my questions regarding this and confirmed that they could indeed set up for my friend to customize her succulent arrangement. I would just have to call to give a heads up in case they are super busy at the store. So that is what I did, and it was an awesome experience. Joy was patient and warm while helping my friend with each step of the process. Even though my friend was indecisive because the store has so many nice succulents and options for decorating the terrarium, Joy reassured us to take our time. Which we did. It was really nice to chat and learn about the succulents. Joy even asked about my succulents I had bought on my last visit. She gave clear instructions and tips on taking care of the plants. I will definitely be returning to make my own succulent arrangement! It's a fun experience to share with friends. Joy mentioned how great it is to do with a couple of people outside the shop when it is warmer. I highly recommend this nice family-owned shop. read more

I've had a recent obsession with plants. Joy's flower shop has only made my passion for plants grow bigger. Around 9 months ago I bought my first two succulents at Joy's Flowers and Gifts. After that, I couldn't stop coming back! Now, I have over 50 plants. Joy is such a pleasure to talk to whenever I come in. She is very patient and understanding. Her daughter is so cheerful and kind too! They always put a smile on my face whenever I come in. All of their plants are always so happy and healthy! Each time I do buy flowers, it is beautifully wrapped with extreme care. Their flowers are very fresh. I still have some Baby's Breath and Hester that have lasted for at least a month. I took my mom here once and she was so amazed at all of the different types of flowers and plants they had. What I enjoy most, though, are their succulents. Each succulent is at a reasonable price and very healthy. If I have any trouble with any of my succulents, I always know I can come back to this lovely store and ask for help. One time, I asked to get my terrarium filled. I didn't choose any succulents and trusted Joy that she would do a great job with it. I got it back with exceptional results. I couldn't be any happier! Most plant stores do not have the same passion for plants like Joy does. Joy and her store have characteristic most other plant stores do not; they have passion. If you are looking for a healthy plant or a beautiful bouquet to brighten up your home, I highly recommend this store! I can't wait to come back! read more

So you admitted you do bother the gift receiver?! Thank you for supporting me at this part! And I feel so sorry for ruining my mom birthday Everyone in her work place are talking about this now. Do you dare to swear you and your crazy worker did not say you would not return my money?! Do you dare to swear you do not insult the gift receiver in public?! I swear all I said it is true! Everybody! choose this insane shop if you do real want to hurt or insult the gift receiver! The Crazy shop would help you for free!! hope there is no next victim! By the way, I have already submitted all my evidences to the customer protection offices. Hey! This crazy shop got the bouquet back without notice and gave the flower to the other person in front of my mom! Like insulting my mom! And they refuse to get my money back! I definitely will call the consumer protection offices. No one should be treated In this way!! I ordered the bouquet today, and the receiver did not get exactly the one supposed to and the bouquet is not as fresh as they show me before . Check the pictures, they are not the same one! But they said they took the picture before delivery. Also they charged me 8$ within 0.5mile distance for delivery. And when I asked them about the price and want to know if they sent the same bouquet in polite way. Then! A women called me and yelled at me. Yes! She kept yelling at me from the beginning to the end. It's unbelievable that I am the one who supposed to be angry but try to clam her down. and they keeping texting me and calling me. This place is adorable. I came in interested in Joy making a terrarium for me because of her stellar reviews and she was extremely nice and helpful to guide me with her process and I chose a few plants to go in mine. I have to say- Joy really puts a lot of passion into her craft of making terrariums. I'm really pleased with the way she made mine. i dropped by here for a a bouquet without really knowing what i was looking for, but to my delight i ended up with small, pale dusty pink roses wrapped in faded newspaper and twine. they were so lovely i could have easily imagined them as the centerpiece in some sort of photoshoot. joy really pays careful attention to every aspect of what you may be looking for and what looks best for the flowers. i could also tell even in my short visit that she has a great relationship with buyers and pours a lot of joy into what she does. there are pre-made bouquets and even some succulents lined up outside the shop (both of which were very tempting when i entered and left), so if you are still on the fence after all the great reviews, i can definitely recommend walking by and at least taking a look! read more

This little shop on Hester St. is just plain magical. I love strolling in here on my lunch break and the occasional weekend to pick up new plants for my apartment. Joy is the loveliest lady, who knows her plants! I need not say more, seeing how good her reviews are already. But really, I find her prices to be fair and reasonable. I frequent different garden stores in the city just to see what's pretty and new and I always end up back at Joy's to buy my plants. Sometimes I walk out of here with nothing but a nice conversation with the owner and that's okay. Makes you love New York. read more

Awful customer service! Took a month to clean up a terrarium which Joy said would take four days. Every time I went in or called she said she forgot; no apology, no I'm sorry, all she did was laugh, like it was some sort of joke! When it was finally completed it wasn't what we had talked about; at all! I will say it does look nice, it's just not what we discussed. When I pointed this out she started arguing. Wait! There's more the last of the 4th contact, Joy, said she'd deliver the terrarium, since it took so long and because she "forgot". When I asked her what time would be convenient for her to deliver it, she said I'd have to pick it up! Like I said awful customer service! To go in and pick up flowers, I suppose you're OK, maybe, if you're having any kind of work done, spend your money elsewhere! read more

I am writing this review just for the service. I usually like to help small business owners and not write negative reviews, but I want to be truthful. This shop was on my list of florists to discuss flowers for my wedding and I kept getting brushed off, which left a very bad taste in my mouth. I first called right before a big holiday and was told to call back and come in to discuss the following week after that holiday passes since they were busy. Well, guess what, another florist was very busy as well with the holiday and said there were a lot of flowers all over their shop and I would have nowhere to sit, but I was welcome to come in to discuss options. Okay, so I was patient and I let that holiday pass. I called them 2 weeks from the initial call and then the shop owner tells me yet again that they are busy with the next upcoming holiday. Wtf? I understand it is a small shop and there aren't many workers, but it isn't a good start to a relationship with a potential client. I was still patient and decided I would give her one more chance because I really wanted to see my price options so I waited AGAIN. I finally get an invite to visit the shop. She has me standing there and waiting around until she comes over and chats with me, but then another customer calls for her attention. Um, I was here first and the time should be blocked out to discuss my event since I was willing to pay good money for wedding flowers. She takes notes and then tells me she will call me back and come up with a quote and check which flowers will be in season. I waited a few days and still no call. I decided to go with the other florist since she was much more attentive and detailed-oriented. Finally, the shop owner calls back after a week. Thanks, but no thanks. If she can't even give me some of her time and be attentive and brushes me off I don't matter, why would I spend thousands of dollars in support of that type of service? read more

Joy is an absolute pleasure! I went in to get a gift for my roommate for Christmas. I had my own jar to use and I told Joy my budget. She was more than accommodating. I came by with my jar on a Sunday and within an hour and a half she had made a beautiful terrarium. I've been to her shop a couple times and have never had a bad experience, I highly recommend Joy's if you're looking for any kind of gift for a friend or loved one! read more

And there's a Pearl River Mart and other places to find gifts and souvenirs. My favorite of this ilk is Muji Market, which has all the Japanese amazing things! Also of note: very clean bathrooms. It reminds me of the bathrooms at Grand Central, a lot of stalls, sinks in the center, only much, much more pleasant. I'll be back as soon as I can. They come in pandan, ube, and Java palm sugar (aka gula melaka) flavors. - Pearl River Mart and Pearl River Mart Foods: back in the day they used to be located in SoHo on Broadway, though rising rents made them relocate, and I'm glad they're still around! They carry all sorts of Asian-inspired decor, serving ware, stationery, and their "Foods" location downstairs is combination of Asian grocery, bubble tea (Milk & Tea), and Korean and Chinese snack/takeout stands (Kimbap Lab and Mao's Bao's). - Muji Market: this is a smaller location that carries a narrower assortment than your average Muji (house wares, basic apparel, accessories, kitchenware, snacks), though they have a full cafe serving coffee and matcha, simple Japanese lunch items like bowls, sandwiches and bento. Cafe prices seem a little higher probably due to the location. - gallery art: there is a small whitewashed hallway gallery of maybe a couple dozen small pieces by local artists, featuring NYC-centric photos, sketches, paintings, multi-media. Found this fun and entertaining!
