Conifer Kingdom 'Gold Drift Norway Spruce' on their website

I purchased a Gold Drift Norway Spruce to be shipped to me in Michigan. As you can see from the photos, the first photo is from their website, which has since been taken down as they claim they are "Sold Out". The second photo is the tree I received in which you can clearly see there are two "Leaders" One of which has been cut and the other is bent in a 45 degree angle as depicted in the third photo. The tree I received does not look like the one in the photo on their own website. When I contacted them I was told in no uncertain terms that my problem is cosmetic and does not fall under their warranty/guarantee. So because I assumed I'd receive a tree that at least resembled the one on the website it's my problem that it doesn't. The rep told me to cut off the second leader if I wanted it to look like the one on their site. Don't waste your time and money with this disreputable company.

My patio home in the back. Most larger plants are 4-5 years old from 1gal. pots.

I've been buying conifers from C.K for many years because I'm a bit of a rare plant nut and I retired from grounds/landscaping profession. There are but a few places to get such gems, anyways as others have said their guarantee policy is not the best but generally I've been satisfied with what I've gotten from them, some plants are quite hard to come by. Here's one good tip to planting, if you have heavy soil like here in Pa. when you get the plants, prepare the hole first, mix in a good amount of peat moss, unpot the plant, hose the root ball off with a strong stream of water getting as much of the potting soil that came with it off, spread the roots as much as possible, plant a little high, work in the soil mix with your hands, water well and mulch. Water once a week when you don't get a real good rainfall first year. If you use the free shipping order by March or early so you receive before you get hot days as they take a beating in a truck in the 5-8 days to get to you here on the East US.

I got a scotts pine candlight that appears sick from needle bight or some other fungus and picea pungens procumbens that has needle cast disease. Although the other spruces and pines are healthy it just these two have me concerned. They should pick the healthiest ones to ship and clean the unhealthy ones

While the experience I had here checked all the boxes for me in terms of budget and entertainment value, potential customers should know terrariums can be a fairly spendy craft project. Quality glass vessels, healthy plants, and specialty materials come at a cost, but Silver Falls does all of the heavy lifting in terms of growing and sourcing the materials for you. In the end, I spent just over $200 for several hours of entertainment and education, my vessel, the plants, and a lifetime warranty. I love that the shop's terrariums are backed by a no-fault guarantee and ongoing maintenance support, which adds significant value to the experience overall. The owner, Gregg, is the secret ingredient that really makes this place work. He's a fascinating character, with an impressive knowledge of the history, culture and science of terrariums. I was expecting a simple, hands on activity, but Gregg really gave us in depth knowledge about the fascinating origins of terrariums, info on how these closed ecosystems function, and the principles behind keeping them healthy and thriving. I had a really positive experience here, and several months later my terrarium is thriving! If you come with realistic expectations of the costs involved, you'll leave with a beautiful terrarium and a newfound appreciation for creating these beautiful and miniature worlds.

Today we went on the 1.5hr standard tour thinking that would be a long tour. We were wrong, next time we will choose the 2.5hr tour. Angela was our guide and a wealth of information. The tour van was clean, comfortable, and they had water available. Things to Note: *The ride is on winding and dirt roads. It was a blast for me, but if you get car sick or don't enjoy a few small bounces... It would not be for someone with issues of balance. *Early morning is best of heat could be an issue for you. We went on the 8:45am tour, it was great. We worn jackets in the morning then took the them off in the later part of the tour. I highly recommend the longer tour. We felt we would have liked more time among each field and to visit more. * Angela brought up a great point. It's good to plan to go on more than one tour as different flowers bloom at different times. Lastly we were so happy to hear about the process of seed farming from the soil to the seed cleaners. It's a wonder farmers can even stay in business due to insurance and wage costs. Could you imagine having to pay people $25+ an hour just to pull weeds? I hope this family keeps the tours going and I want to take all our friends and family. * Don't be like me, read the rules and wear close toed shoes :) One of my favorite moments was when Angela shared the prepared examples of seeds before and after cleaning.
