But honestly the two women at the front deserve their own review. Between them they cover glasses fitting, frame selection, lens materials, insurance navigation, and scheduling, and they do all of it with a warmth and generosity that is just rare anymore. They treat you like a person, not a transaction. This is a practice that clearly puts everything back into patient care. You feel it the moment you walk in. I won't go anywhere else, especially not the boutique-y places that prioritize their lavish lifestyles over patient care.

Prior to visiting Dr. Neunzig, I received two very badly botched lens prescriptions from a different optometrist at a different company in Monterey. After two failed attempts, I was told that it was impossible to correct my vision. I thought it was crazy to tell me that it was my fault! So, based on my neighbor's recommendation, I sought out Dr. Neunzig. Boy, was I glad I did! He had no problem at all in refracting my eyes for new lenses. I have the new glasses now and my vision in both eyes is better than 20/20! I am beyond happy to be able to see clearly again! I plan to continue seeing Dr. Neunzig for future checkups and refractions. I highly recommend Pacific Grove Optometric Center.

She's a funny lady. She told me I had a big head. I felt a little rushed at the end. So a doctor who can think on her feet and give me the service I need who is a little high-powered and outspoken. From the moment I walked into this office I was immediately struck by how very friendly, courteous and efficient the entire staff are. Dr. Penrose is very knowledgeable, extremely patient and was willing to spend his time answering all my questions (I had many) to ensure I felt at ease with the procedure and what I could expect result wise for my vision after surgery. Jessica who coordinates and schedules surgery dates, after surgery follow up appointments, details on medication, eye drops, after surgery care, booking the surgery center is exceptional and went out of her way to accommodate appointment times and dates to fit into my schedule. I had absolutely no problems with insurance billing and any costs, co-payments, etc all all were fully explained in detail. Dr. Penrose and his entire staff have a very high level of professionalism, combined with efficiency, friendly demeanor and patient care. Just the very best experience and I am so grateful. The front of the building doesn't look like much: it's an older building wedged in between a carniceria and the Cultural Arts Center (AKA, the old police station) on El Camino Real near Oak. However, inside is so nice and professional. The front desk staff are pleasant, and they know their stuff when it comes to insurance, etc. The other staff are equally patient and skilled with their responsibilities. Finally, the doctor herself is SO upbeat and positive. My daughter has had some bad experiences with eye doctors, so she was more than a little nervous, but that evaporated the minute that the doctor came into the room and greeted her kindly. The visit was prompt, all the new equipment made things so much easier for my daughter, and everyone was great. Greenfield is really fortunate to have this doctor and her staff here!
