Since moving to the Monterey peninsula from the Bay Area I have been MSCI the drive back to see my eye doc. Old habits die hard. Until one day you wake up and ask yourself "why am I doing this?" I got an appointment within 3 days and had a totally pleasant experience with her and her staff. I liked the personal attention of her small practice but she still had all of the latest testing equipment. I visited this office to evaluate if progressive or single vision glasses would work for me, but unfortunately the prescriptions I received did not work well. Upon my return visit to discuss the issue, I felt there was minimal effort offered in providing the opportunity to fine-tune the prescription, and I was left with the impression that no further options were available. While the office itself was professional and courteous, I would advise future patients to be very clear up front about expectations and to confirm whether follow-up adjustments will be supported if the initial prescription isn't a good fit. read more

Dr. Hong is spectacular. I have a lot of eye issues, and she took the time to explain them carefully and patiently to me, also answering any questions I had. The staff there is also polite and accommodating. The office itself is beautiful. I moved to Monterey a couple years ago and started out seeing a larger optometry clinic with rude people behind the desk and a doctor who seemed impatient with answering my questions. Dr.Hong is my hero. She saved the day when I was in a tough situation. I'm a painting contractor, got something stuck in my eye recently, and was unable to continue working. After calling many other eye doctors that wouldn't see me without an appointment, Dr.Hong fit me into her busy schedule within an hour. In less than 15 minutes upon my arrival to her office, Dr.Hong gently yet effectively removed a large piece of debris from my eye that I wouldn't have been able to extract myself.
