Even the overnight staff is good. I always felt like my grandma was safe and in good hands. Even during times when my grandma wasn't well they called us and suggested what we should do. The location is very nice since it's near the water, the building is a bit outdated but their always working on improving it. It's not perfect, family members need to do their part and visit, give feedback to staff, and the food wasn't always perfect, but overall it was a life safer and I'm incredibly thankful and grateful.

He is very attentive and caring. My brother is blind so he needs extra care. There's another woman named Mary, she gave us access to the outdoor patio which was really helpful for us so he could get some exercise. I appreciate the staff keeping an eye on my brother even though they are not used to dealing with blind people. They always make sure to keep him clean and as well as his room. The housekeeping staff does a great job and are very friendly. Especially Trish. She's very pleasant and social. Always striking up a conversation with our family member. She kept our family members private room clean at all times. The activities team, Valerie and Stacey go out of their way to make sure residents participate and have a good time. They also are very friendly and personable.I was very impressed with them. Chris the maintenance guy is very prompt when something needs attention. Also a very nice guy. Bob, the project manager, I believe, also very caring and understanding. One time He went out of his way to bring our family member to an eye appointment when transport and family members couldn't. Now the not so good. I won't name any names, but will mention their title. The nursing coordinator was fairly nice for first few months. But when our family member left his medical appointment in Boston (not a good choice to do) before his transport arrived, she turned not so nice. It's understandable of her concern and her duty to be sure residents are always safe. But we feel he was being continuously penalized for his wrong doing. The day after this incident (he went missing for several hours) she put him in a cramped room Way down the other end of the hall. She said it was for his safety sake because his private room was too small for him..that made no sense because the room they transferred him to, had 2 beds, one not being used, and just about the same size as his private room. Also, she would not allow him to venture out for a day with his sister, who did it weekly Up until this incident. She claimed he was an escape risk. He spent his Father's Day in the facility. This was his first Father's Day without his daughter, who had passed a few months earlier. His sister planned on a family day for him at her home, to help him from the pain of not having his daughter on this special day. This shows NO COMPASSION.also, She would not allow him to use transport for his medical appointments, even tho a family member would be meeting him when transport would arrive at the appointment. This is something that has been done since his admission here. A few times she raised her voice at his sister, when discussing certain matters. This is very unprofessional. The social worker is extremely condescending. She lacks people skills. And shows no empathy. I've dealt with many social workers, With my profession, so I am familiar with thier roles and the manners they should have. This one lacks manners. If she hadn't continued telling us and our family member that "he is his own person and can make his own decisions", he probably wouldn't have decided to leave his appointment before transport came and got lost in Boston! There have been several disagreements between her and our family members sister. She had an obvious dislike for his sister. one one of his final days there, Our family member's sister was sitting on the spare bed going through her phone while the doctor was behind curtains, tending to his wounds. he came from behind the curtain to discuss his condition, when all of a sudden He started saying she was unethical in recording him! She told him she was not recording him and was just checking her messages while she was waiting. she showed him her phone. He left our family member, without covering his wound and went to get the nursing coordinator, who then came into the room and scolded his sister, like a child. somehow the social worker became involved and refused to hear the whole story. His wound was not properly dressed until later that day. The next couple of days, our family member kept complaining of pain around his wound and was not feeling well in general. He asked to be transported to the closest hospital. I'm not sure who, but he was told he was fine and that he didn't need to go. 2 days later, his sister went to visit him and immediately saw that he had a fever and looked very I'll. He needed to go to an emergency room. She took him there herself. But before being able to leave the building, the nurse coordinator stepped in and made things difficult, wasting the time he should have been at the hospital. At the emergency room, it was determined he had a seriously bad infection, his wound was a stage 3 wound (stage 4 is the worst) and he could have died if he was not seen when he was. Needless to say, we removed him from Pine Knoll.

I found Dr. Haft on a list of LGBT positive providers, and she has been my doctor now for a little over 2 years. Every experience with her and her office has been very good. The office gets back to me quickly when I need to schedule an appointment, the staff is all friendly and professional, general good vibes. A few specific call-outs for others considering the office: - As I mentioned, I am fat. This does not prevent me from getting good care here, and it honestly has at other practices in the past. My weight is clinically discussed when relevant, but I always feel like I'm being viewed as a whole person with many health attributes including my weight. - Preferred names and pronouns were discussed and are confirmed each visit. Language around personal relationships is also neutral and includes various relationship style options and pronouns. This is great. - I've typically had bad experiences with getting blood taken, and have pretty deep veins on my arms. They have been successful here every time, which is unusual for me. - Sometimes the schedule is running behind, but I genuinely don't care. I alot a little extra time for my appointment on my calendar, but what I appreciate is that even if the schedule is running behind, you get full attention and time when you are being seen.

When I asked why, the scheduler said that the manager instructed them not to schedule any annual visits with the doctors in the practice anymore -- only the nurse practitioners or PAs. This is terrible for continuity of care. I should be able to see my doctor. I didn't schedule an appointment. Our medical system is so broken in the U.S.

I live out of state and came up to Massachusetts for two days to be with my friend. During my time visiting I notice that staff wasn't attentive as they claimed to be. Basic end of life care is such a sensitive time and if you are a patient there with no family, it's a very lonely place. I needed to track down staff several times asking for the basics. Water, coffee, soup, straw, mouth swabs, how about shaving my friend, change of a diaper. I had the time to sit with my friend, the staff did not. Two days after I returned home I received a call at 11:09am from Christa H. at the Sawtelle Hospice House informing me that my friend had passed away. When I ask Christina what was the time of my friends passing she replied, "about 20 minutes ago and I was with him". As comforting as it may sound, it was a blatant lie. When I received the official death certificate from the town of Reading, the MD who came into Sawtelle that morning documented and pronounced my friends passing at 6:00am that morning. My two stars go to the 2 social workers that were compassionate and professional. Linda B. RN and former hospice nurse.

I spoke with this nurse who not only broke HIPAA but when I specifically asked her whether it would be a good time to visit my aunt, she advised that I would be welcome to come visit at any time during the facility visiting hours. Upon arrival, I was accosted by this LPN and told that she had "already had to make her family leave" as my dying aunt was growing increasingly agitated because Tyler, LPN "can't be expected to keep up with all these med passes while family is in the way so now I'm playing catch up." My lovely and adored aunt passed away early the following morning and I was never allowed to relay my father's message to her before she was gone exclusively due to this LPN's "authority" in which she would not "permit" me "access to (HER) patient". This human who made ethical promise to "do no harm" did at least express that she found it "very unfortunate" that I had made the 2 hour trip (after speaking with her on the phone TWICE mind you) "for nothing". I have not yet filed a formal complaint with the agency that employs Tyler as we are still in mourning but, being a nurse myself with 10+ years of hospice experience specifically, I do intend to make the MA Board of Nursing aware of this individual's deplorable behavior in addition to holding the agency accountable for allowing a nurse holding a license that restricts her scope of lawful practice from providing imperative and ethical intervention implicitly resulting in inhumane practice supported by the agency during times when holistic and evidence based patient and their family's care and comfort are paramount in their most vulnerable and precious last days of life.

I have had other agencies and or people come and care for my mother who is very fragile and has a…read morelot of health issues, and the only people that I felt was qualified, empathetic, knowledgeable, dependable, and who showed real interest in my mother and her wellbeing was Visiting Angels. This is not to say that other agencies do not have good people working for them, but in my own experience, I have to rate Visiting Angels very highly and I have been extremely happy with the people that they have sent to help my mother and I will continue to use them as I am putting my mothers life in other peoples hands and this is not something I take lightly or do I want to take a risk with my mother and her care as accidents can happen even with the best of people, so I want to make sure I put my mother in the best possible situation for success and I feel I am doing that with Visiting Angels.

The first aid I had was my favorite. Wow what a worker! A couple were willing to do what ever I asked, but willing to be on their phone otherwise . One was awful and I had to suck it up. For the most part they are hard working and great companions. Some are hard to understand . ( NONE FROM HATI) Because my services don't conform with their outline, we parted ways. If you are a millionaire +, and can offer a full month at a time this is the best service I've found thus far. What I did enjoy is they respected me, respected my belongings. What I didn't like is language barrier issues, simple tasks turn in to multi hour conundrums. And the constant need to tell their schooling and training. The desire to do things only one way. My house, my rules.
