If you try to advocate for your loved one that is being neglected and possibly abused from a gash on there head, a broken arm, a gash above there eye, and your loved one doesn't speak or walk to tell you what happened they will seek retaliation against you and your loved one. I went all the way up to the owner for my legitimate concerns and got no response. Called the state and got an ombudsmen who said everything is fine. Called over 100 nursing homes trying to get her out with nothing but we have no beds. Finally the last straw were huge blisters with pus on moms breast and all down her arm and they said it was nothing until I said send to ED now. ED admitted her and Doctor called nursing home to be told we don't know what happened. I worked with case management at hospital to not send her back to Everett and they found her a new home where I actually feel she is safe and taken very well cared for. Even if you have no where to put them bring them home until a decent nursing home accepts them. Everett doesn't care about there patients at ALL!!!! They love to torture them as the DON said to my mother oh you're crazy just like your daughter while I was standing there and she didn't see me. I could go on forever. It was a miracle from god that a bed opened up at a decent nursing home that took all my concerns very seriously. Why the state hasn't shut them down is beyond me.

I can think of plenty more complaints this is just off the top of my head.

My Aunt was failing at home due to poor care and lack of food, because the aids did not know how to cook. She was having pudding for dinner!!! The day of my appointment with Kate, My aunt took a stroke. I thought they will never take her in and we been looking at Nursing home. Kate with hospice agreed to take her. The day I meet with the staff, I was told they were residents not patients. This was their home. The food looked and smelled good all the residents we met looked well cared for and happy. I knew it was the right place. I was told by the night person that at 3:30 a.m. my aunt asked for ice cream and they got it for her. It was the best decision I could make. They gave the greatest love and care to my aunt. My one regrets is that my aunt could have lived there longer. she would not worry about the house, getting food and who was in the house caring for her. This is a wonderful place for your loved ones.

The "activities" director Robyn, is wonderful. She does the best she can with the tools she's given ~ which is nothing. There's only so often the old time songs will work. The residents need much more stimulation than given. The rest of the staff are overworked as there are not enough workers. Which I feel is a safety issue. The head nurse Kay, is sweet. They aren't quick at follow through, at all. My Dad had UTI and it took a couple of days to get antibiotics. Ridiculous. We wanted my Dad to be moved downstairs as a safety issue he has dementia . Never done. He instead fell with a glass in hand and got stitches. Would it have mattered if he was downstairs? I don't know. There is only one staff member for 25 residents. It's legal but to me it's SO unsafe. What if someone falls upstairs and the staff member is downstairs? The food is EXCEPTIONAL. My Dad loved it. The home, large, old, Victorian needs a serious update. The wood is dark and wallpaper outdated. The elevator is tiny. When my Mom passed they told me to be prepared as her bodybag would come down the elevator vertical! The tv room which is a tiny narrow room can't fit all wheelchairs and residents in it. It's horrible. They need to install a new room and large tv. Newer bright pictures would help. Here is the incident that makes me and my two sisters believe they deserve zero stars But, I'm rating on complete experience. My Mom and Dad were in a room upstairs. My Mom was actively passing. The night before my sister had to pull string for help. (hospice was in place). Fine. Next day my mom was agitated and we pulled string for meds. Us 3 daughters were with my Mom. We hear banging of footsteps coming up the stairs. It's the owners daughter Kate. Hands on hips she says, not nicely at all, we have to have a talk. You have to take it easy on my staff. Constantly asking for help. I said, "cut us some slack our mother is dying." She said we've been through this hundreds of time. If you're looking for private care you're in the wrong place. We were stunned into silence. Mind you our Mom was in the bed. I only pray she was unconscious. We reported her to hospice which had to write it up. We never received an apology from her. Kay, however did. I'm sure she did b/c I'm sure she complained. Complained, we asked three times for help during her passing. They asked where to send flowers, they never did. We immediately started looking for another place for my Dad. He was an elopement risk. I was told by the owners other daughter, Lauren, who works there, that they had to manhandle him back in the place. I couldn't bring myself to ask what that meant. They need more training when dealing with dementia patients. I'll end this long but honest informative review by saying that the workers DO have compassion for residents. Kate needs to work on her delivery and become a little softer. My Dad happily lives in a nursing home.

I don't know whether to give The Fitch Home a good rating, because The staff are excellent with the elderly! Always up and running is someone pulls for help or is screaming for help! The downside about the staff is some of them talk to much and sometimes will start sh!t with you. So how I got the job I was offered by someone who knew me since I was little. This person who wanted me to work for Fitch knows how much I wanted to be somewhere in the medical field along with struggling mentally and financially. Long story short I think I was really good at what I was. As time grew things like transfers became easier but there were times where I needed help and I think that is totally normal.. I wasn't fired but how they decided for me to leave there was really no explanation to it all, they said to me was "you need more training." And when some staff i worked with over the time of being there they noticed that I wasn't there anymore so they asked the head nurse where I was and the head nurse said "we let her go" and my co worker at the time said to her "i miss her" the head nurse said "I don't".. UNPROFESSIONAL.. They said in the future I could be re hired but I don't plan on coming back just because they didn't give me an explanation of why they wanted me to leave or "let go". And from the day I left Fitch home it's been very hard to find a job and have been struggling financially to the point where I live in a shed with no running water.

I don't see how an elderly person was expected to chew or digest that food. My last point is to hide any & all valuables because things will go missing.

To be honest I believe the better your insurance the better care you get there. I must of been on the slum side. I watched them disrespect my roommate who was 94 years old. Never helped feed her. The staff are unprofessional and give the impression that they could care less about the patients. They schedule appointments and then give incorrect information to other staff members that need to attend. There is not enough staff to cover patients that are there and they are very quick to remind you of that. Just one example, when someone needed to use the bathroom and the staff were told because the patient needed help, after 15 minutes the staff was reminded and still no one came. How long do they expect someone to wait? The staff tell you what they think you want to hear, but if you call them out on it, they become snippy. I would recommend that no one ever put a loved one in that type of environment. They should be shut down.

This is a skilled nursing facility with excellent RN nurses and CNAs. Common space is open planning living room/dining room home style with an open kitchen. It feels more like a home. The cafe and lobby is new and modern w large windows looking out over Boston's skyline. It makes a nice meeting place with coffee and pastry. My father was cared for here until his death going through COVID and those terrible years. I'm thankful for Katzmans staff, nurses and CNAs during those most difficult times. Good work.

My mother was placed here for rehabilitation but the staff gave up on her pretty quickly, seemingly intent to let her lay in bed in a soiled diaper all day instead of encouraging physical therapy so she could go home. The head of physical therapy was adamant in giving up on her, doctors orders went unheeded by staff, and staff made excuse after excuse to deny providing a shower. No one should have to sit in soiled diapers to the point they develop rashes and blisters. No one should be allowed to develop urinary tract infections because they are left dirty. No should should be given up on. If you're looking for rehabilitation, stay away from Katzman Family Living.
