I grew up in CT and around the corner from my house was a CT Muffin. I went there almost everyday for 5 years. I am happy to report that this location's offerings are identical to the CT CT Muffins. My absolutely favorite muffin on the planet is CT Muffin's BANANA CHOCOLATE CHIP. Their muffins are incredibly moist and always live up to expectation. I'm partial to cappuccinos and they make a great one. I love their espresso. I also loved the welcoming atmosphere and incredible menu. I'll be back!!

I was surprised by the rating because it was so good! We got something savory and sweet - it all tastes wonderful! The fresh OJ was the highlight for me. Decent amount of indoor seating and the service was quick and friendly. I'll be coming back!

This was my first time really eating in the area. I pass by here all the time. I was actually on the way home and it was kinda cold and I was kinda hungry with no food in the house. I decided I better eat before I get home. There are some benches outside but they might as well move those inside because that "outside seating" weather is gone! The lady at the desk was friendly and I ended up getting Vanilla Chai with a shot of Esssspresssooo-good. It was delicious. Ya know not everyone can crank out a good Chai drink. I don't know which base they use here but it was good. Not too spicy, which I don't like. It wasn't overly sweet either. I got the "vanilla" but I really didn't discern a "vanilla" taste per se. Then why stop there? I decided to get a toasted raisin bagel with "butta". They do have a small seating area in the back and most of the seats were taken except for 2. I helped myself to one and slowly enjoyed my meal as I read my book. Other seats that were occupado had folks with laptops on it, so i assume there is free wifi. It's relatively quiet. However the seats aren't comfortable to the point where I would park myself here for hours.

Did I come on a bad day? Maybe. But even if I did, there is no excuse to selling their cinnamon sticks that felt like carton and tasted like one. Just not fresh and I mean seriously not fresh. Haven't been here for a long time. And came especially here to get their cappuccino and cinnamon sticks. So the sticks were not fresh, and the cappuccino was very watery. You just taste something is missing. Sitting area is very nice. Saw many people working at the back. I'm guessing they also wished coffee would be better.

$5 for a slice of cake that taste like cardboard - very stale. This place/location remains a disappointment. I will not return and will not recommend. I'm giving them 1 star because that's the minimum to write a review and the cashier was very pleasant. But the cake was the worst I've ever tasted anywhere.

I used to live in the area and on occasion still work in the area. This has been my local go to for coffee for years. Quick and friendly staff that always make the line move fast. Besides coffee, they have some decent food and sandwich options. I love their egg and cheese sandwiches and bagels. As an added bonus, there is a bakery in the back so it always smells great in there. So stop by and have a cup of coffee and bite to eat.

This place has good coffee and good snacks. A little on the pricey side, but I consider it a treat. I go there once or twice a week. So far I've gotten coffee there about 15 times. The last few weeks the cups have been leaking. The last few times I thought it was bad lids but this time the coffee cup is actually leaking.

We went on a Saturday afternoon, it's a friendly spacious place, delicious coffee and muffins. There's plenty of seats , clean and quiet. Also nice pictures on the wall which complements the cozy atmosphere. We spent half an hour there very relaxing like in a museum.

Not bad. Not quite Connecticut quality but if you're nearby it will do.

The staff is friendly and they take credit cards, but the baked goods I bought were stale. There are better options in the neighborhood.

You can usually get a table and the people working there are genuinely friendly unlike Qathra, the fancier place next door.

Was in the area and looking for a quick sandwich option…read more Came into Albemarle and they seemed like they had a variety of options (breakfast sandwiches, rolls/hero's etc). I chose to go with the JJ Sandwich (breaded chicken, mozzarella, jalapeños etc). I get to the cash register and a woman rings me up and mumbles something in another language to the man who's preparing the food she then proceeds to add a dollar onto my order and doesn't tell me why. Upon opening the sandwich, the chicken cutlet is soggy and seems like it was made days ago. Not sure if there other sandwiches are better but this sandwich for $13.50 was extremely underwhelming. I could've gotten a lunch special at a Thai restaurant down the street for cheaper and better food.

I will get the occasional breakfast sandwich (like an egg and cheese or bec), or a turkey/cheese sandwich for lunch or dinner. Otherwise, they have a pretty good menu of other types of sandwiches. Depending on who is making the sandwich, it will vary. Definitely a safe bet either way. They also have your usual snacks like potato chips, sodas, beers, and what not. I've been here a number of times because I'll be in the neighborhood. This is definitely one of my favorite bodegas around. My favorite part being how personable and friendly the family who runs it. They've now become a familiar face. Overall, a recommend for if you happen to be passing by. It's conveniently located by the F/G subway stop, so it's hard to miss.

I finally made it here for lunch and wow I was impressed!…read more They have a Mediterranean influenced menu and we ordered a few items which we loved. I ordered the chicken schwarma plate and falafel salad which were excellent - the fries were terrific and the overall atmosphere was to die for - it's a nice cozy space and the service was excellent The owner cares deeply about serving quality food at a reasonable price - they make challah bread over the weekends which sells out fast Definitely try this place you won't be disappointed

I was craving falafel and this is one of the few places that popped up in the neighborhood…read more I ordered a falafel sandwich and it was fresh and flavorful. I would definitely order again. Israeli style with pickles, which I love. The chickpea soup was a standout. So flavorful and nourishing; definitely a nod to the sopa de garbanzos that I grew up with. The generous portion of labane is rich and complimented by herbs and an excellent olive oil. But it only comes with one pita! Personally, I'd prefer a smaller portion with more bread. Ok, first, let's be accurate about a few things. Etymologically, "batata" comes from the Spanish for "potato." This is a nod to "Sephardic" Jews, from the Hebrew word for the Iberian Peninsula (by definition, Spain and Portugal; after "expulsion," this came to include a diaspora more broadly northern African. In order words, western and southern European, not Eastern like Ashkenazi Jews.)

It was so refreshing yet decadent at the same time. Such a treat! I ordered a bahn mi (original) to go since I was heading to dinner and the lady packed all the veggies on the side for me and told me not to toast the bread. She instructed me to toast the bread at home when I'm ready to eat it and to them assemble the veggies afterwards. IT WAS THE BEST BAHN MI I've ever had (and I've had my fair share of bahn mi's all over the city). Ba Xuyen is not an extravagant restaurant but it is excellent! It is palpable that the staff takes pride in their food and their work. And you know the place is going to be good when an elementary school kid is collecting money behind the cash register! The baguette was perfectly crisp on the outside while staying light enough to bite through. Every ingredient tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful, the fillings were generous, and the pate added so much rich, savory flavor. I also loved that they chop up the cilantro, so you're not spending a whole minute trying to chew through the stems. Everything was packed together so well that the sandwich held its shape from the first bite to the last without falling apart. The inside feels like a classic Asian bakery, with shelves lined with snacks and baked goods to-go. This is the kind of bánh mì that reminds you why it's such a classic: simple and balanced perfectly. Definitely a spot I'll come back to.
