It is just about the perfect outdoor venue to enjoy your summer night, with a setting sun and while sprawled out on the Mission Fed Lawn. "Low profile lawn chairs" allowed here, the definition of this honestly rather subjective. I did learn that they mean low-back lawn chairs, though if you bring a camp chair with full lumbar support, the ushers just request you refrain from sitting in the middle. You really do not even need to sit very close -- let alone in the middle -- since the acoustics are outstandingly crisp no matter where you are situated in the venue. No food or drinks are allowed inside. The food and alcoholic drinks they do serve on-site, are subject to an out-of-control 22% service fee! If you trolley in (as we and many others did), be sure to have happy hour nearby before making your way over. Bathrooms are all located in a single hallway, the funk emanating strongly from there as the night wore on. If you wait until the intermission to use the bathroom, expect some insane lines though the workers were great about ushering everyone into a single file line and into and out of stalls. Again, somewhat pricey as they just about nickel and dime you at every turn, but the experience with the beautiful sound and visuals softens the blow to a great enough extent.

The sound in this place is mesmerizing. Not a bad seat in the entire place. Seats are soft and cushiony - I have sciatica so that matters. Parking is easy enough if you get there 30-45 minutes early. The half star ding is due to the bathrooms not being handicapped accessible enough. There is a handicap stall in the restroom, but because the restroom is so small, it makes difficult for anyone in a wheelchair to enter. They should've built a separate handicap restroom just for the wheelchair accessible, especially since they cater to an older demographic - there were at least six nursing home buses double parked out front after the show. lol Otherwise, I highly recommend seeing shows there

I can't believe this theater is hiding in a nondescript building in the middle of SD. It has such ornate architecture and feels so intimate compared to other larger theatres. It looks like it was recently remodeled, as the exterior lobby area looks very modern. There are a couple entrances, the upper level entrance is on Seventh Ave., and the lower level entrance is on B Street. There are bars to purchase drinks on both levels, although lines were SUPER long. The B Street Entrance allows you to enter Knead bakery where you can buy coffee drinks, as well as pastries. While drinks are allowed in the theatre, food is not, so finish eating before you go in. The ushers are very helpful and one usher spent most of her time helping people take pictures in front of one of the signs. Although one lady on the lower level needs more training on seat locations. I purchased seats for our family, with my son in a handicap seat and his brother in the companion seat, and the rest of us in a different section. We showed her our seat numbers, and she put my 2 sons in an area in the lower level and sent the rest of us upstairs. I then got a call from my son saying that the usher said they were in the wrong seats and needed to move and go upstairs, so I had to run back downstairs and bring them upstairs. Luckily one of the supervising ushers saw us and helped us find our seats and graciously allowed our whole family to sit together in the handicap seating area. SD is so lucky to have such a special venue! If you have an opportunity to attend a show here, go!

The seating is first come first serve and it seems to fill up early, but the back rows are fine if you're mainly interested in hearing the music despite not having the best view. The group of musicians were talented and kept the crowd engaged and educated about the history behind each song played and the instruments they were using. And they used a LOT, including some unique ones. Gemshorns, harp, guitar, hurdy gurdy, tambourine, vocals, and recorders galore, to name a few. They took guests through Europe with sounds from Germany, England, Spain, and Italy. The setting was pretty basic on the inside with a bit of art and decor creating an inviting space, like a bust statue of Beethoven and similar structures displayed on the shelves, along with a plethora of books of course. The event lasted a little over an hour, and we left in good spirits. The only downside was the lack of parking in the area.

As a first time attendee, I was very impressed by the more intimate lovely outdoor space nestled in between the hotel and sailboats. The overhead outdoor lights really gave it a nice ambiance. However, at times it was a little too intimate since the rows are very narrow and feel like you are packed in like a sardine. I feel the venue is big enough to space the seating further apart which would be more comfortable. At the back are the concessions and bathrooms that offered a variety of items. I got a heavy pour of bourbon in my cocktail and a large pretzel, but sadly they ran out of cookies. I also want to commend all of the staff I encountered. They were very welcoming starting with the security check to the ushers. They seem to really value the venue and the musical acts. Lastly, it helps to be aware that there is free parking across the street, or if you prefer to be right outside the venue, parking is $25.

Instead we heard poor quality jazz, blues, Broadway, rock and roll which I can hear anytime. Fireworks were okay. Parking was a mess. I arrived before 6 pm and tried to park in the assigned Ace parking which I had prepaid. I was told to go to a different lot. I went to the other lot and they sent me back to the first lot who turned me back to the second lot. It took 4 visits and a call from the first lot to the 2nd lot to get parked. By then I had wasted a half hour and had to walk to the venue. I am handicapped. I don't walk very fast or very far. It was extremely stressful. If the food hadn't been good I would have given the whole thing a big zero.

My friends and I went here for…read moreHalloween since Tiesto in LA was cancelled -cue heaving sobs- and the lineup was decent: Fedde le Grande, Wolfgang Gartner, and Dadalife. We found it 2-3 weeks before the event and paid $45 + ticket fees for our tickets...unfortunately a week later a San Diego Readers Deal came out and we could have saved $25/person. (Which brings the question...what kind of rave/electronic music event LOWERS the ticket prices as the event nears??) It was a 21+ venue, which luckily brought a more responsible crowd. The venue paled immensely in comparison to the Palladium in Hollywood, the LA Sports Arena, etc...Del Mar reminded me of a large warehouse with not much of a stage. Lights were nothing spectacular. The crowd was also not very friendly for the likes of a rave-environment (if you're an avid rave goer, you will get what i mean...wink wink) since the majority of people were belligerent and obnoxious drunks... PRO: Parking is "cheap" (compared to $25+) at $9! I also hear that the same venue has Ferry Corsten and Afrojack booked for New Year's Eve! I guess if you save money on the venue you can spend more on the lineup.

Lines for the bars were no bueno, and lines for the bathroom seemed pretty short. As for the loudness, I think they could have turned up the volume a wee bit. Sometimes you just wanna boogie and there were certain songs where the bass just wasn't punching through hard enough. Other than those gripes, lineup was cool, crowd was good, and as long as they keep this event 21+, I wouldn't mind coming back
