FREE concerts for UCSD students in the main hall! Very exceptional acoustics for a string quartet. The 4 man (and woman) team was comprised of 3 violins, and a cello. They played a, "C Major, Op. 20, no.2" from Franz Joseph Haydn, "Grosse Fuge, Op. 133" from Ludwig van Beethoven, and a "B-flat Major, Op. 130" by Beethoven. I was sitting in the very back row, center and feared I wouldn't get the best acoustics and was glad I was wrong. For the small team, and huge room, the music flowed elegantly. I can't wait for a larger group to come play here! The music should be even more wonderful! If you have a chance as a UCSD student to attend (free), or as a member of the general public, I strongly suggest coming here to "up your fancy class."

From the moment we walked in, security, vendors, volunteers, staff are friendly and helpful and just a joy to chat with! I had lost my Jameson hat in night one, reached out just in case it had been found and shortly after I emailes I received a reply back that they would keep an eye out for it. While getting ready for night two I received another email that they had found my hat! The fact that they even got back to me to begin with meant a lot but that the response time was so quick, just plain great customer service! I got a chance to talk with quite a few of the staff and they were all personable and it was a pleasure chatting with them The venue itself is great too. Not a bad seat in the house and the sound is really good. Think a smaller scale Hollywood Bowl style theater. Lots of fun events coming so make sure you check them out. Whether a date night or family outing you'll have fun! I worked at UCSD for 16 years (been gone for 9 years now) and bummed the theater wasn't there then but happy to go back now and see some awesome shows, movies, and live music!

The staff who led the way seemed to have a really bad day, cold tone and no facial expression when asked politely to switch to a mini booth instead a four ppl table. And he was able to accommodate . Then there comes Hannah, she is very sweet, friendly and easy to talk to. Her smiles and just right check-ins, totally work 5 stars service. Unfortunately the dishes were not impressive as the service, big failure is the Tuscan white bean soup, too salty to swallow, the ahi tuna tartar is good but seasoning was a little plain. And the sea bass tastes fresh, but the flavor is boring -- tasted like something easily comes out from home. When Hannah noticed that I didn't drink much of the soup, she asked me about it. And she even went to her manager to take that off my bill without asking or complaining. .... Great mental values I got from her during this meal. Overall Hannah's service is FiVe , and food taste 3 stars . So overall total 4 stars . The restaurant is big , fits for small and big parties.

Date Night Done Right at Season 52!…read more My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous date night at Season 52, and it exceeded our expectations! A special shout-out to Victoria, our waitress, who served up outstanding customer service from start to finish. She kept our drinks flowing, checked on us often, and made our evening feel extra special with her warm smile and attention to detail. We started with the Shrimp & Crab Stuffed Mushrooms and a bowl of Lobster Bisque--both were flavorful, fresh, and absolutely delicious! For my entrée, I ordered the 8 oz. wood-grilled Filet Mignon with a lobster tail, potatoes, asparagus, and warm butter for dipping. Everything was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. My husband enjoyed the caramelized glazed scallops with a filet mignon, Yukon mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Another winner! The biggest surprise? The value! At around $55 per entrée, we felt the portions, quality, and presentation were exceptional. Steak, lobster, and scallops at that price point made this meal a fantastic value. Bonus: Plenty of parking at UTC, and Season 52 validates your parking ticket! If you're looking for a romantic date night, delicious food, and outstanding service, head over to Season 52 and ask for Victoria. She'll make sure your experience is just as memorable as ours. We left as very happy customers and can't wait to return with our family and friends! Happy Customers, Laura & Mike Songer

There is a ticket fee for all non students. The small arena has a large screen scoreboard that is paired up with a loud sound system for music. It's very entertaining and fun during the breaks. They have a "block party" for every UCSD block and the staff throws free t shirts into the stands. There is one small snack stand for sodas, nachos, pretzels and typical sports food. It was staffed with two people. There is no beer or wine served here so get ready for Gatorade. The arena is a nice volleyball venue where 200-300 spectators watched the game very comfortably. It was fun with music and the great announcer.

Eh. I've never…read morereally been a fan of seeing shows at Rimac Arena. I mean, when you wanna check out a hot show and you're REALLY excited about it... it's hard to get upset about the venue. You just wanna catch the performance. This was the case last night for the big Flight of the Conchords show at UCSD. Been wanting to see those cats for years, and finally, they brought their tour through San Diego. The show could have been at the Miramar Landfill for all I cared... I just wanted to see the best musical comedy duo since Tenacious D up close and personal, and it happened to be on this particular college campus. The show was great, but I despise the layout of Rimac. It's primarily used to house the UCSD basketball teams (both men and women), and it doubles as a large concert venue for bands and artists with a big draw. Unfortunately, the space yields some terrible acoustics. I don't think shows were necessarily top of mind during construction of this venue, and it's apparent by the vast amount of metal pillars and various other adornments that cause the sound to bounce all over the place. I think they could spend some of that trust fund loot to throw some egg crates on the walls to absorb the sound, but that's just me. You know when you see a show in a gymnasium, and for a moment, you totally forget that you're in some sweaty sports venue? Well, that's not the case here. You're well aware that you're in a basketball arena, for sure. You really have to commend the staff at UCSD for doing so many great things for the students enrolled here, though. Seems like they have a different music festival going on every month (Sungod, for example). However, I just wish they could warm up the arena somehow. It'd be like doing yoga in the middle of Time's Square. Sure, the yoga would awesome... but it'd be really tough to get the full experience because you're in the middle of a bustling intersection. Like that yoga comparison, it's hard to fully get into 'show mode' here. But coming full circle, sometimes you have to make sacrifices to see some of your favorite bands. It's unfortunate that our city doesn't have more 'real' music venues in town for an act of this caliber. Uncomfortable bench seating in a college sports hall hardly does the trick for me.
