My friend talked me into going to see Beyoncé vs Beethoven here. Yes, are interesting as it sounded I had to see how they pull that off. I was able to find a parking spot real close by which was amazing. Plus since it's further from downtown the meter was only til 8pm, instead of this 10pm nonsense. Anyway, this was a really nice inside I loved the decor. Surprisingly, the concert was great! The had singers performing Beyoncé songs, while the orchestra played both to her sounds as well as then Beethovens. It was definitely not what I had expected, but in a good way. They encouraged us to sing and dance along, making it a fun interactive experience. The staff were pleasant and helpful in guiding us to our seats and or finding the restrooms. Overall, a fun evening out.

Someone took me here to watch Ronny Chieng and Han Minhaj standup. Checking in was super quick and easy. We also got directed to our seats. The venue is beautiful with an old school feel and lots of details. Seats were nice and we were able to see everything without any issues. All the bathrooms were clean and super private as well. The only thing was the line for drinks was long and took awhile. We just wanted water and skipped because the bartenders were making drinks as well as taking orders. As for parking, the person I came with paid for parking in a nearby structure for only $5 and it was a 5 minute walk. When it was time to go getting out was also quick and easy. We couldn't have been happier.

An amazing venue that has been recently renovated. Amazing acoustics as you would expect. Ticket prices offered are wide range to fit any budget. World class performers and the SD symphony is a delight to hear. Pre-performance lecture series introduces you to the composers and works and gives you a great appreciation for what's to come. Highly recommended. Food and drinks available with a cafe co-located inside. Easy access, handicap accessible. For the best seats select the grand tier.

The Jacobs Music Center is SO special! It's a timeless venue that simultaneously feels modern and historic. Acoustics are fantastic. There isn't a bad seat in the house. The entry and exit experience before and after a sold out show as very smooth. They offer really delicious cocktails and food out on the mezzanine. And all of the staff is so helpful. We saw Sigur Ros with the Wordless Music Orchestra and it was a perfect show at the perfect venue.

Beautiful music center from the entrance thru the entire venue. The seating was comfortable and the sound was amazing. We were in row F of the mezzanine, seats in the far end. We had great seats until a group sat in front of us and kept getting up and down throughout the performance. No food is allowed inside the center but they do allow drinks with lids inside which is nice. There are a few cars that serve alcoholic beverages (mixed as well as wine and even some holiday themed drinks which I found fun) and they were very reasonably priced. We only got coffee but from what we saw the bartenders were pouring decent drinks and all around $14-$16 it looked like. They also served sandwiches and snacks before and during intermission. I also loved the fact that they had cups of water and ice water ready to go for pick up (no charge). Usually event spaces charge several dollars for bottled water. Overall we had a great night. Staff was friendly and always smiling. We parked just around the corner in the suggested parking garage for about $25 (including fees) very short walk to the venue.

The venue was nice as we got to sit in the middle orchestra section Row M to see the Ronny Chieng and Hasan Minhaj comedy show in Dec 2025. Restrooms are clean and they had some tasty ham/cheese and turkey sandwiches for $8.00, Fiji water was $6.00 but they ran out. Parking available nearby for $10 per vehicle. Security was fast and efficient. Seats were comfortable. The show was hilarious.

Came here for the Hasan and Ronnie show and the venue is gorgeous! I don't feel like you could get a bad seat in the house. It feels like a more intimate venue. In the lobby you can get drinks and light food. We got stone IPA cans for $8 and others in my group were able to get well cocktails and cutwater. I wanted wine but they were a bit pricey af $16. Friendly service though.

We finally saw a performance here after the renovations. This venue is BEAUTIFUL. I was surprised that they've been open for over a year now - for a venue that's so unique and iconic in SD, I wish the marketing was more present about this venue. We came to see the Nightmare Before Christmas in October featuring the San Diego Symphony and it was incredible. We got great seats in the Grand Tier, right side. I spent a significant time (maybe a little too much) doing research on the best seats in the house - whether it's worth paying the orchestra floor seats or not - and I found that their website had a great interactive seat view. that was very helpful in making my decision. If I were to come back, I would absolutely choose the Grand Tier again over orchestra - you get to see the nice architecture in the ceiling which is harder to see from the floor. The seats are comfortable and the aisles are spacious where we sat. The place just feels brand new. Parking is tough as with anywhere downtown. We ended up pre-paying a spot in a garage 2 blocks down. Keep this in mind and plan ahead. The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is for the food and drinks. They have an extremely small selection of alcoholic drinks and snacks. Ice is not allowed so none of our cocktails or drinks had any (not a great experience). For a place so nice, I hope they invest more in the food and drink service moving forward.

Visited the Jacobs Music Center to experience the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and Rafael Payare in their new renovated and beautiful home. The space is immaculate, absolutely beautiful. From the light teal colors of the seats to the beautiful stage and surroundings. It had been so long since I had visited the music hall I'd forgotten what it used to look like. The Jacobs Music Center is conveniently located in an accessible part of downtown, away form the busyness of the Gaslamp. I was amazed to see that most seats no matter where you are seating appear to be good seats. The space is large yet feels intimate. And, the choral terrace behind the orchestra was something else, it made for an epic and eerie ending- literally gave me chills. This whole thing of blending the old and the new- works for me and it works for the JMC.

We set out to have a magical night with the family at the San Diego Symphony and boy did it delight. They had snacks and refreshments galore to match the theme of the night. People were dressed up to share their enthusiasm for Tim Burton's Nightmare before Christmas. We had never been to Jacob Music Center. Parking was easy right across the street for $10. Gettin in was a breeze and the volunteer ushers whisked us to our seats in preparation for the adventure ahead. I wish I could see all my favorite movies at the symphony. We will be back very soon.

I came here to fulfill a bucket-list concert with my parents. This venue is a gem, located in down town San Diego. It was fully renovated during covid and i have to say I love it! We parked a few blocks away per ticketmaster in the US bank parking structure, and made our way here. Inside has a bakery/coffee area, bars, and accessible friendly areas with use of an elevator for most levels. We were sitting at the uppermost level, and had to use stairs to reach our seats which proved challenging for my father who has mobility issues. Over all, i would definitely recommend this venue. The acoustics were good, the lighting was good, and even with nosebleed seating , you still could have descent views of the stage.

Our experience was FAB-U-LOUS! The venue has always been a favorite and the renovation is AMAZING! There isn't a bad seat in the house. DID I MENTION THE SOUND QUALITY? INCREDIBLE.

A beautiful venue with every embellishment necessary to make one swoon over the fabulous architectural design. The music is top notch too with what is one of the finer sound systems available in San Diego for concerts and recitals. I happened to attend the Alice in Chains concert last night and it was my first time at what is also known as Symphony Hall. While waiting for the doors to open to the venue, I was able to relax on some comfy sofas out in the reception area. Nice people in classy black suits work as ushers, Some of the employees of the older persuasion did seemed flummoxed by the crowd of metal heads and grunge fans. Still it was all very pleasant and nice. The fake fireplace was a nice touch and the fancy light fixtures had my admiration. Along the right entrance to the lower level, there was a large and handsome Old World painting and I could just sense how the noble class who usually frequent the Music Center for opera and violin recitals must flit among all this graciousness. Nevertheless, AIC did a great show here and it was not lost on me how utterly incongruous it was to have a grunge band take the stage at a Symphony Hall. I did have to deduct 1 YELP STAR for a very dimly lit seating area where even the ushers needed to turn on a flashlight to check the seat numbers. Turn up the lights until the show starts so people can figure out where they are going to be seated.

Concert was almost ready to start!

Our group was surprised as is was 2115, it's been open for about an hour and a half and packed. As you enter this old law office down a staircase one would find the "speakeasy statutes/rules" to maintain the 1920s atmosphere-- we loved the setting, the people, the drinks, and of course the live music!! One would not be disappointed. The cocktail menu was on an old record, which I thought it was so clever. Back to the rules, seems pretty easy! They mention to keep an open mind with the drinks as they do not carry vodkas, redbull, Budweiser or bulls**t. Mentioned a dresscode, more so be classic and states be respectful and don't be a di*k. I couldn't agree more with the rules. I don't think there is good at this establishment, as our group just came from dinner I wasn't looking for food. Just spirits, live music and a good time. Multiple bystanders witnessed his behavior but failed to intervene, assuming it was just "relationship drama" After the man finally left, the venue's security completely misread the situation. Instead of checking on my well-being or ensuring the aggressor had left the premises, security targeted and chased me as if I were the problem. It is incredibly disappointing and dangerous for a business's security team to lack the basic situational awareness and training required to identify the actual victim in a situation. I felt entirely unprotected by the staff here. I hope management takes this as a serious sign that their security team needs immediate retraining on bystander intervention and de-escalation, rather than harassing women who are already in vulnerable situations.

We walked in and while it was a little loud for us older folks, we looked around and took in all that was happening. There were people there much older than us as well as people barely old enough to be in a bar. The pianist (s) were hard at work a the drummer was rocking out too. We sat down. Let me tell you, that was the most fun we have had in a long time! All three musicians played multiple instruments, piano, harmonica, sax, and drums. The songs were everything from Slim Shady to Elton John and everything in between. Slips of paper were placed on the piano, a nod was given and off they went. The crowd sang along and we all laughed! Some of it was silly but ALL of it was fun! Highly recommend. About 10:30 the older crowd started making their way out, us included, early morning flight but we would have stayed until closing time. We might have paid for it the next day but had we not had a plane to catch we absolutely would have stayed. It was fun to see multiple generations having so much fun together and the music was incredible. We had just eaten so we didn't order food but what we saw on other tables looked good. Go!! As you walk in, you walk right into a food court area with many tables to sit at so you can enjoy your food. All the food is ordered at multiple kiosks. I liked this and felt this was super efficient. We tried the burger, the Birria nachos, and a burrito. All were delicious but give you sticker shock. As you move out of the area with tables there are multiple bar carts, ice cream cart, and other liquor and wine vendors ready to give you samples and sell you their drinks. The bathrooms are big and they have two for women and two for men on each side of the underground tunnel. Walking up the stairs to the shell, you come upon a beautiful grassy area and for this concert they had the merch booth a few bar carts, and a wine vendor cart. This is where I have to say I felt scammed. I ordered a vodka cranberry and they ask you what vodka you want, I chose the Kokomo that I tasted earlier in a tasting. Got the double shot. She itemized every item in the drinks and charged me 18.00 a shot and then charged me for the little bit of juice she gave me! Then when I went to pay, she stated all tips are automatically included and there was a service charge. With the way they itemize the shots and juice, that gave her an incredibly inflated tip. I will never order a drink here again. There's an expansive area for people who bought lawn tickets, and people brought both low lying chairs and blankets to sit on. The seating area itself is a bit too close together, with every chair flush against the next one and no arm rests, leading for an uncomfortable closeness to your stranger neighbors. People of plus size will be incredibly uncomfortable. The show itself was amazing, as this venue is gorgeous on a San Diego evening with the lights illuminating the shell. The sound system was crisp and clear. Overall, I recommend having your fill of food and drinks at alternate locations and just coming to enjoy the show.

My friends come in to help sooth the situation, but no matter what they say the security guard is yelling at them, at me, and continues to pull on me along with other security staff. I did not know that man who had pushed me was security and once I realized it was, I immediately apologized by saying OMG I didn't know you were security, I just thought it was a random guy pushing people! Keep in mind, I am a 4'11'' woman, in heels, a little tipsy, so when I got shoved over (for whatever reason) it made me lose all of my balance and I believe there was absolutely no need for all of that aggression. Anything my friends said or I said did not matter. They wanted me out. Once I was outside this security guard just kept talking down to me and laughing at me. As with every elevated dining experience, my wife and I like to try a large number of dishes especially appetizers and curate these picks with the help of our server. We settled on: charred cabbage, pig Mac Bao, Caesar twinkies, duck meatball, crispy rice, and garlic noodles along with cocktails and a dessert. I thought the majority of the dishes were just okay (3/5) which was disappointing given the price point. The pig Mac Bao in particular which lauded as a crowd favorite at Kettner lacked flavor which was unfortunate given how aesthetic and creative the dish was. The charred cabbage had promising flavor but our cabbage was undercooked and crunchy and the sauce was not evenly distributed leaving some bites lacking flavor. My two favorite dishes were the Caesar Twinkies and the garlic noodles. I would certainly get the garlic noodles again, they were absolutely bursting with flavor.
