Tom provided me a repair date with a time window to repair the washer. He also provided a fair estimate cost to repair the washer. Tom replaced the water pump in a timely manner and kept the work area clean which I greatly appreciated. Tom's estimate was on point. My machine is working again and it's been over a month since the repair without any problems. Tom did a great job and I would use this company again without any reservations. It would still dry the clothes, but the noise was worrisome and distracting. I was concerned the dryer was on its last legs. I called Sun Appliance Repair to find out if the dryer was worth repairing. Sunny came out promptly, expertly took the dryer apart, and evaluated the problem. He showed me parts that were just worn and needed replacing and gave me an estimate. Initially I decided not to repair the dryer. I have a reluctance to put money into old appliances and usually opt for just buying something new and that is how I explained it to Sunny. He was very pleasant about it and told me to just call him again if I changed my mind. My wife and I shopped for new dryers at Best Buy and got a bit of sticker shock. We anticipated higher prices during these inflationary times but with the purchase price of the dryer, extended warranty, and fees for installation and haul away, the total price came to over $1,000. We bit the bullet and spent the money. The Best Buy installation team came over and immediately started adding new requirements for installation and some questionable "required repairs" before installation could be completed. Long story short, we were expected to spend hundreds of dollars more for installation requirements we never encountered with Home Depot or Sears over the 30 years we have owned the house. I cancelled the appointment and told the Best Buy installation team to return the dryer because I would be requesting a refund. I immediately called Sunny and told him I wanted to proceed with the dryer repair and that I accepted his estimate of the cost. It was an extremely reasonable price compared to my bad experience with Best Buy. He arrived at my house the next day and repaired the dryer. The problem was that the technician never got back to us with our quote for the repair, even after I called a couple of times. After a week, I just wrote a bad review, thinking they did not want our business. The owner reached out to me after that and explained his technician was new and forgot to send us the quote. He apologized profusely, and he went above and beyond to make things right. You could tell he prides himself and his company on the quality of work they do. He ended up helping us repair our drying machine that just had a belt snap a few days ago. He was honest and sincere and very knowledgeable. Made the whole experience great. The result was nothing short of perfect. Because Jack was kind enough to answer my questions over the telephone ahead of time, he had a pretty good idea about what to troubleshoot when he arrived. He replaced a malfunctioning fan, looked over some other parts, and just like that our Thanksgiving plans were literally back on the table! And did we get taken hostage on price given that this was a "must-fix-now" emergency? Nope. In fact, the price was shockingly lower than I would have expected, just over $200. Jack is what I would call a traditional (aka "Old-school") business owner. He is a decent person, honest/value driven, communicates superbly and obviously has the skillset required to successfully repair so many types of appliances. This is one of the few 5-star generating businesses that truly hit the mark. Also want to share this. After I called Jack and was told his schedule was booked for a few days, I called another place and had a repairman come out. He quoted us $780.00 after looking at the unit for 45 seconds (literally). I was standing right there shaking my head and asking him to inspect more closely. He said, "Why, it is obvious what the problems are." He then told me the parts are out of stock. Then things went from feeling dirty to sleazy. He said his company had a fridge that could be delivered the same day for only $3,499.00. That's when I realized I really screwed up. A technician was scheduled for Monday to diagnose the problem. Vitalli arrived on time and carefully replaced a temperature sensor and made sure the dryer was venting properly.
