Not knowing what the problem was exactly, I needed a carpenter. So, I googled Carpenters in the Seattle area and came up with this web site, Carpenters.Networx.com/Carpenters, which had a listing for Specialty Finish. During this past holiday weekend, in the evening, I sent an email to this business stating my need to get a door repaired. Within five minutes after sending the email, I received a phone call from Bob of Specialty Finish. He told me that, yes, he could come fix my door, but he wouldn't feel right about it because it would mean charging a couple hours labor for something as simple as replacing the existing screws with bigger screws. And this is something he said I could easily do myself. While Bob was on the phone with me, he had me unscrew one of the existing door screws, to confirm his suspicion they were woefully small and not up to the job. He was right, the screws for this big heavy door were less than 1/2" long. Side note to the Mercer Island-based builder of my home, what were you thinking? Anyways, Bob recommended 2" screws. I found screws meeting this specification in an IKEA repair kit we already had in the hall closet. It was an easy job to replace the screws and fix the door. Total repair cost: $0.00 Can't beat that. I've worked with every facet of their company - administration, project management, carpenters, painters, subcontractors, etc. I always go to Monet first because their quality and honesty are incomparable. And I've worked with many different types of contractors, for many projects, on many levels. Their communication is almost always excellent, so when delays happen or issues come up (because issues will come up, especially on large projects) I'm able to get answers on revised estimates and schedule impact. Monet is also excellent about billing to estimates and keeping to schedule as much as is within their control, especially if that's an important aspect of the project for you. Any issues I've had with Monet have been extremely minor and the owner, Dave, and his team have always been quick to respond to any concerns I have. Do I occasionally have to chase them for a response? Yes. Usually? No (and especially not on anything critical). Are they frequently busy, and it's sometimes hard to get on their schedule? Yes. However, I've learned to avoid contractors who are always readily available, no signs of busy-ness in sight. Because the good ones...yeah, they're hard to get a hold of sometimes because they're exactly that - good at what they do and, therefore, in high demand. On a final note - because of the sheer volume of work they've done for us, I've also been in the position to see what happens when things come up that need repair/attention months or even a year or more later. I feel a moral obligation to write this review, given the stellar reviews…read more I waited a bit to review, because I wanted to make sure I had as much information as possible before writing it. I hired the team to hang and tape/mud about 1000 sqft of drywall. I had a number of quotes, and Solution DryTex was one of the higher ones, but still within reason. I went with them because of their responsiveness and friendliness. I fired them part way through the work. I had six other drywall companies out to inspect their work - all six said it was unacceptably poor - four of them said to tear it out and start over. As they started hanging, they were doing an alright job, though slightly messier than I would've liked. As they continued, they did a few things that were absolutely unacceptable: - Extensive over-driven screws, which means the drywall will not hold well - Breaks in drywall not directly over a stud/joist, which means the drywall will flex and crack - Extremely poor shimming, meaning the drywall will be crooked - Random pieces of trash sitting behind drywall, meaning the drywall wasn't sitting level - Unnecessary breaks in drywall, which will cause more visual imperfections. - Completely crooked pieces that won't be able to made to look good, no matter the amount of mud I brought up some of these concerns, and they attempted to fix them. The fixes were wholly inadequate. Before I had a chance to circle back with regards to those fixes, they begun taping. After I saw their taping work, I promptly fired them. The taping work contained a number of major problems: - Prefill huge gaps using premixed mud, which will take weeks to dry (if ever) - Mud all over my brand new windows - Bubbled tape that won't be able to be hidden - Globs of mud used to fill an inch wide gap - Corner beads with large curves in them I messaged them repeatedly, telling them they needed to return my money, given the fact that I was going to have to redo all of their work, and they wasted thousands of dollars in material. I received no responses. The team is very nice - they're a pleasure to be around. But no amount of kindness makes up for the fact that they have no idea what they're doing. I don't feel particularly good about leaving this review, but I think it's the right thing to do - I don't want them to take advantage of others like they took advantage of me. EDIT: In response to the owner: Scope of work: Correct, the work was interrupted before it was finished. This was after trying to get poor work corrected. I have also verified with six independent teams that the quality of the work was not such that it could be made to look good and last. Site conditions: Regarding framing, the team came out ahead of the project and spent quite a while measuring. If the framing was not acceptable, then that would've been the time to say so. Client collaboration: Now you're just being strictly dishonest, because moving the cabinets was explicitly included in the agreement. And you used _one_ sheet of drywall, mostly because you used the 1/2 drywall in the wrong places and needed to make up for that fact. Quality of work and adjustments: The work was so far from professional that it could not be adequately adjusted. I have verified this with SIX different companies, to make sure I'm being reasonable in my assessment. Track record: I can't speak to this. All I know is my experience.

However, during the paint job, it ended up costing us more than some of the other quotes that we received. I would have been still fine with this, only if the finished job was up to the standards that was promised to us. Unfortunately it was not. During the inspection, John agreed that part of the exterior trim near a tree needed to be fixed properly (he even mentioned bringing a ladder to reach it). That repair was never completed, and the very first rain after the job caused new water damage inside my home -- the exact problem we were trying to prevent. I trusted that the repair followed by the paint job was done properly, but as you can see from the pictures this was not the case. When I raised the issue, John insisted the work was done as scoped, rather than acknowledging that the problem area had been overlooked. His email response was more focused on defending the paperwork than on taking responsibility or offering a meaningful fix. I paid in full (in fact, more than the initial quote, effectively higher than what I would have paid if I had hired some of the other contractors) but ended up getting a lower quality job. Despite trusting that the work had been done properly. It's disappointing to discover that wasn't the case and now I have to go through the additional hassle of not only fixing the exterior but also the new damages caused to the interior. Based on this experience, I would not hire John again or recommend Pecks Property Pro LLC for repair or painting work. Attention to detail and accountability were clearly lacking.
