Interior wall damage that we, the homeowner never agreed to in writing

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY LOCATED IN SUMNER,WA! We hired Construction Kings in July 2024 to install a new stamped concrete patio and a patio cover with stone wrapped posts and a custom stone outdoor kitchen island. During our initial meeting with the owner, Zak Nash, he prided himself on having the best "in house" craftsmen and full customer satisfaction. Should have known it sounded too good to be true. Once they got the 50% initial deposit, we were ghosted for months. They finally started the concrete patio installation in late November 2024. We asked if the post footings would be installed at the same time and they said they would be added later when they started the patio cover. Seemed odd not to install at the time of the concrete pour, but then again, we don't claim to be master craftsmen. The remainder of our project was pushed off for months and we quickly realized why. The concrete sub they hired called us in February 2025 asking if we'd paid Zak yet as he was claiming he hadn't been paid by us and therefore couldn't pay his subcontractor bill. We had cleared checks to prove it. Zak also lied about not needing a building permit, saying we could apply for one after the fact, which is not true in our city (or many that I know of). Thankfully we then opted to pay and apply for the permit. We figured if nothing else, it would hold CK accountable to build a legally safe structure (they still proceeded to fail 2 of the inspections). They FINALLY started the patio cover portion of our project in September 2025. They removed 4 very large sections of our "new" custom patio to install the post footings. They then tried to patch those areas with hand mixed concrete that was the wrong texture, pattern and color. The edges were crumbling into our yard. When we asked to have it fixed or replaced, Zak texted that it would all be fixed at the end and it would be seamless. I don't claim to be a contractor but even I know that it would be impossible to repair or replace our concrete patio once the stone was placed on top of the patio. The electrical sub they used to wire our outdoor lighting, made several large circular cut outs to the 2 separate interior walls and ceiling of our home, in order to connect the lines. We were shocked to see the damage to the interior of our home and the electrician said when he discussed the job with Zak, not US, he was told to do what was needed and Zak would take care of it. This was the electricians first job for CK and obviously wasn't aware that the drywall damages would never be addressed by Zak. To this day we still have not received a response from Zak about how he plans to make that right. We spent our Holidays staring at large holes in our dining and family room thanks to Con King! It was at this point that we had to fire them. In total we are owed approximately $19,000 from them. We have now spent more money to hire a reputable, honest company to repair their mistakes and finish our project. Please visit better business bureau (current rating = F) and look at their L&I page to see the numerous citations and legal claims filed. The negative reviews are legit. They are meant to save others from ending up in our position. Please take them seriously.

Do not trust anything told to you by Zak, Frank, Blake, Mary, Arielle, Jake or anyone else in their crew. They are all lying to cover for the mess they have created. From what I experiences they seems to be taking money upfront for what they tell you is for ordering materials but they are actually using it to fund older jobs and then will stall on your job until they have someone else's money to pay for your job. I paid 50% (23K) 3/21/25 and they didn't start work until 10/9/25 collecting another 25% (11K). They didn't have the materials (colors we picked, privacy wall) we supposedly paid for, we have to choose from what they had available. We were so desperate we agreed even though we didn't choose the items offers. The Construction Kings accepted approximately $33,000 from me for a $49,000 second-story deck and roof project, then repeatedly delayed, performed substandard work, left debris behind, and ultimately abandoned the job. They initially claimed no permit was required, which I later learned was false. They refused to provide site plans, attempted to charge additional fees (they did charge me $1700 for materials in addition to the 33K), and were largely unresponsive to calls and messages. They showed up 9 days from 10/9/25-11/16/25 before I cancelled the start date payment for 11K. Blake started messaging threatening to return the money without addressing how they planned to redo my damaged roof. He also demanded $2,500 for project plans needed for the permit. When I refused to pay, they stopped communicating and threatened liens and civil action. I haven't heard from in two months, when they mailed me intent to lien on 12/9/25. We found out they also did not pay the subcontractor they hired. They are getting free money and services from any angle they can. If you were scammed like we were I suggest reporting them to all agencies below. I'm no legal expert, but feel like my family has had construction fraud committed against us. lots of money taken up front, very little to show for it in 18 months. broken promises made by at least three individuals at the company. Failed permit inspections and what felt like an abandoned project. We had no choice but to complete our project without them, which has cost us a lot of money to repair the damage they caused. just do your homework and don't part with your money so easily.

Brand new roof, leaking water already. less than 90 days after install.

The only good thing I can say about Construction Kings is that they stood by their one price guarantee. The craftsmanship was awful, communication was absolutely pathetic and their warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. Case in point. My project was finished in October of 2025, 6 months late. It's now December of 2025 and for the last month I have been sending e-mails, texts, pictures of a leaking roof that they installed. I have contacted the owner directly, Zak Nash. He has been absolutely no help. I ended having to to repair the first leak myself and I guess I am going to have to do the same with the second. Under no circumstances would I recommend this contractor. I promise, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!

He was in awe of their work. Everything was done to perfection. We had over 6 bids for bathrooms ( total redo) and their prices were amazing for the work they did! They listened to our concerns, came up with a plan. We could not be happier! Besides bathrooms, we were going to have them do our flooring- carpet to LV. Third floor condo - we ordered all, they bought everything up three flights of steps ( 950 square feet) - after carpet was up they noted flooring was off, and LV was not an option unless floor floated. We opted for carpet. They hauled all of the LV back down three flights. Zero complaints. Happy to do whatever was in our best interest! When we thanked them for their great work throughout, their response was always " we thank you. We are grateful for the work!" The good: -competitively priced, one of the cheaper quotes we received -good quality materials: porcelain tile slabs -frequent communication -finished product seems to be functionally ok, for now -we had a toilet leak during the construction period, Juan reseated the toilet properly and fixed the leak promptly, this was much appreciated. The bad The work was overall sloppy, in many regards. First and foremost, after Juan installed the valve and plumbing, they caused a small leak into our living room below during water testing. This required them to open up the ceiling downstairs, dry it out, and patch up the drywall and repaint (see pictures below). This honestly freaked me out and increased my vigilance throughout the project. During shower door installation, they cracked one of the slabs requiring it to be replaced. This was fine, but the waterproofing patch job looked uneven and thin, but they did come out and re-coat it after I brought this up. The shower door hinges were poorly installed initially. The screws were not countersunk and sticking out; I even confirmed with the shower door manufacturer that this was not correct. We had a lot of back and forth about this; Juan eventually replaced the screws with ones that fit more properly. Wall edge at the end of the shower looks very uneven, and the caulking has cracked and the wall on the tub side even has a hole in it at the transition. On the last day, I asked them to replace the shower arm to raise our showerhead, as it was low; I purchased a gooseneck from Lowe's myself, but Juan initially told me "you can do it yourself" however because they already installed a standard shower arm. He did end up putting it in at the end but it was installed improperly; it was crooked, so I decided to replace it myself afterwards as I was already quite stressed with this project already and this was a simple fix. After taking the shower arm off, I found no teflon tape on the threads, but instead a thin layer of some kind of goo. I'm not a plumber, but teflon tape is generally recommended to seal the threads. I cleaned the threads off and installed the shower arm with properly applied teflon tape with a thin layer of pipe dope. At least the copper elbow in the wall felt solid. Overall, the wet area seems ok, we're not having any leaks (so far), and the shower is functional; however, I felt the project was rushed, communication, while frequent, was poor, and the end product is just sloppy. In the end I was told "I worry too much about everything." I'll post the pictures of the areas of concern and you can judge for yourself. We saved a few thousand dollars, but in hindsight, I wish I hired someone else and saved myself a lot of stress.

While doing a site walk seems like a no brainer some of the other companies i reached out to didn't think it was necessary or showed up kicked some dirt and said that will be $$$$. Joel came out with laser levels, measuring equipment galore, and years of knowledge/experience. About 30 minutes before they were supposed to arrive, I received a voicemail stating that they don't work on apartments. I was on a work call at the time, so I missed the call. I tried to respond through their chat and by calling, but it went to voicemail. I own a condo, but it seems they consider it too similar to a standard apartment. I requested a paint job, so be sure to own a home or similar properties before reaching out. Very inconvenient and I took time off of work to accommodate them. Update: It seems they arrived at the scheduled time despite having cancelled the appointment. Unfortunately, since I believed the appointment was cancelled, I took a work call and couldn't respond to their last minute changes. I moved my break later in the day to accommodate them but when they canceled and I was given the opportunity to clock out earlier in the day if I continued to work, I did, thus missing their call. However on an upside, they do work on apartments but only through the apartment management. They mistakenly assumed I live in an apartment complex, although I live in a condo, which could have been clarified with a quick Google search of the address or if they reached out and asked not immediately chosen to cancel the appointment. I did specify that this was a condo and not an apartment in the Yelp request. Additionally, it is troubling that the company framed the situation as confusion on my part and criticized me for voicing my concerns publicly, especially after they cancelled the appointment and sent someone out without confirmation.
