Wow this store is an experience. When my husband and I walked in we were given complementary wine and beer. They also had trays of sweets. I enjoyed the variety of items and chose a wristlet that I had been eyeing. The store had the newest selection and more. There was a James Avery jewelry set up and a wall of bag charms. Absolutely loved this place. My bf at the time took me because his sister is a huge fan and she wanted a few things. The shop is a great size and plenty of parking. The staff was very friendly and didn't hover or pressure you to buy anything. Lots of options to choose from and they wrapped up my pitted in a cute bag. Just got a new purse as a gift the price tag was still in the purse. Plastic of side compartment still had packing paper in it. The upper seam was coming undone so I took it back. Anna and another coworker referred us to the shoe hospital and or to reach out to customer service with a paper the size of a fortune cookie fortune. If she had bothered to look we had some worn consuela bags previously purchased from Sue Patrick that we never had issues with! They lost loyal customers and future referrals by not allowing a simple exchange or return for store credit! The bags are grossly overpriced and compromised mostly of plastic but the lure of a Mexican style purse mistakenly got my attention, never again! read more

Even though this bag did not meet my expectation or quality, Consuela reached out to my wife apologize for the inconvenience and it's giving her a replacement bag at no additional cost even though the warranty is no longer valid. That speaks volumes to their customer service, and their dedication to ensure that their customers are well taken care of. I applaud them for being proactive and resolving the issue at hand when I thought there were no repercussions that could be taken. I'm hoping this back lasts a lot longer. Came in for a gift and was a particular purse that was hard to find at the time. Called the store in advance to ensure it was in stock, friendly associate put me hold, confirmed it was, and allowed me to put on hold for a few hours so I could get there. When I arrived, I immediately fell in love with the vibe. Beautiful store! Vibrant colors and just made you feel happy walking in. I started considering buying myself one, lol. Beautiful store! I'm new to Consuela. I was introduced by a friend and made my first purchase of a card organizer wallet because it's compact design easily can go inside a small crossbody to a larger bag with ease. But today I was shopping for a trip I have coming up. I bought a large cosmetic case and the Evie Uptown Crossbody which to me is an essential bag and going to get many uses like amusement parks, airport travel, outdoor walks, festivals and probably so much more. I personally need to see and feel and wear a bag before I purchase. I like to see the craftsmanship and the materials used. I was dead set on getting leather for longevity. Also, in all honesty, I can't justify the prices for some of the other materials used to make same style bags. I do think they have a very fun and unique style that emerges you when you go into the physical store that's hard to imagine when going to the website or seeing their emails. Gorgeous prints, makes fun and useful gifts that friends will use forever. I did have a small mishap where I was rung up incorrectly for one of the items and was able to resolve by making a call to the store and given a refund for the difference without needing to come in, which I really appreciated. read more

I discovered this company on a whim via a search for good quality leather and local. I am lucky enough to live in Austin and just a few miles from the Congress store front location. I fell in love as soon as I entered - The employees were warm, quality amazing and designs creative! I was on the hunt for a backpack and instantly set my eyes upon their "Sling" bag. It's essentially several styles in one bag. Prices maybe considered high to others, but are very affordable in comparison to a lot of other local leather artisans. A couple days later, I had to stop in again due to a alight issue - To my delight, the employees helped me right away with ZERO pushback or wueditions - Very refreshing! Let me start by saying that my wife and I have come to this shop many times and enjoyed our experience. The many employees we have come across have been polite and more than welcoming. However, on our last visit we were less than impressed with both the customer service, as well as the product quality. My wife purchased a small shoulder bag along with several other bags (our living room was full of bags) at this years summer sale. Within less than a month the strap of the bag had seperated from the bag itself making it more or less useless. We figured this would be something that Consuela would stand behind especially after only lasting for a month. This is where the dissapointment begins to set in. We swung by the store and were less than impressed with their attempt at customer service. The staff proceeded to tell us to take it to get it repaired on our own time and at our own expense or exchange it for the purchase price in store credit which was reasonable enough. However, I could not help but feel that their employees were condescending towards my wife in regards to a product that was purchased at their sale, and not at full price as this was repeated by the staff several times. It was almost a "Pretty Woman" type of tone and service and not what I expected from this company. With upscale purchases should come upscale service and reasonable expectations of quality. Neither of which were provided in this case. I am not one to make great efforts to share my opinion on things as everyone has one, and mine is not particularly important. However, I will be sharing our experience at Consuela with everyone I think will be reasonably interested. read more

I do love their bags. I have never been to the yearly sale before and almost didn't go because of the awful reviews here. But they read the negative reviews and I emailed them and asked why the customer service was so bad! They assured me that they had taken care of the problems. We arrived at about 11 am. There was still a line around the corner but it went ok! It was fun to chat with other Consuela fans while we waited. I found several great deals! And they were passing out free cold beers when you got close to the door. I will be going again next year! But I think I will stay in the b&b across the street and stand in line first! read more

When I realized it would not make it, I called. I was not happy, but realized I would still get it after Christmas. Gorgeous and extremely colorful purses of all shapes, sizes and personalities. My friend and I stopped after a quick cup of coffee across the street. Well, we actually stalked them. Coffee was over and the shop was not open yet. We paced and stared in the window and finally the two sweet gals inside let us in early. Downtown Congress is becoming a little shopper's paradise with new boutiques opening up constantly and this is one that caught our eye. Consuela's is spacious with purses in all sizes and amazing colors and patterns. I saw several I would love and they are fairly reasonable in price, but, excuse me? As I began to pay, the girl ringing up the sale said, "This should not be $40.00, it should be $80.00."She then ripped the price tag off right in front of me!!I have never been so shocked. I should have put my other items back and left. Even if it was marked incorrectly, she should have honored the marked price. It was horribly rude and deceptive of her to treat a customer that way.
