Way better experience than Fresno Consulate. This place was quick and the process would not have been easier. You make the appointment online or through the phone. They have a link with what you will need. You show up, let them know what you're there for they check the documents and you go inside. Inside you wait in line again and they check everything, now you just wait for the passport and matricula which they hand you that same day. Quick and easy. Some employees are extremely rude specifically the lady working at the INE check in. She was arguing with everyone for no reason. Telling people to send their money to their family in Mexico, and idk what else she was going on about. Anyways besides her everyone else was really helpful and guided us through the process very quickly. I think I spent a total of 3 hours there but it was for 3 people. Huge plus that they hand you the documents right then and there that way you don't have to wait for them in the mail. read more

Mexican citizens are treated like second class citizens here! Truly upsetting and disappointing to be treated like this in your own consulate. My partner and I have come here a few times to renew or obtain important documentation and it's always a struggle. Scheduling an appointment for any kind of documentation process is incredibly difficult. You have to log in to their system only to find out there are very few appointments left or, worse, no appointments available. It took me about three months to schedule an appointment. Upon arrival, you have to check in with the security guard who confirms your identity. Not sure if they choose who to let; one time, I had an appointment scheduled and they refused to let me in simply because they said they were saturated with work that day-- even though I had a scheduled appointment! I went to my first appt for my dual citizenship. Horrible experience! No customer service skills what so ever. They make you wait forever even with an appointment. Had an appt at 11am and was seen at 2pm, and only because I spoke up! They act like they are doing you a favor by talking to you. So rude and they talk down to you like a child. Staff seem not know how to do their job as they don't give you the answers you need, even after asking repeatedly for clarification. Answers given to the same question kept changing. Booking an appt through their WhatsApp is the easiest way to schedule anything here, but be prepared to get availability 6-8 months in the future. Have all your paperwork and make sure every name is spelled correctly, otherwise you'll be turned away. The employees at the upstairs levels and security were very nice and helpful. My appointment was for a Residency Visa. The process was mostly as described, but it is unclear to me why I qualified only for Temporary not Permanent Residency. Other Consulates and the Mexican general website list requirements, which I clearly met and for which, I provided all required documentation. At the appointment, I was informed that unless I owned property in Mexico or my assets were in a Mexican financial institution, there was no way to qualify for Permanent Residency. I cannot find these requirements in writing anywhere and when I asked in emails, I did not receive an answer to that question. I am a Spanish speaker and sent all communications in Spanish and English to avoid any misunderstanding. Service was otherwise polite and punctual, but this confusion is not good and the document is now in my passport so I cannot just go to another office that grants Permanent Residency. I called on a Wed. @4:15 pm. I got my appt on 5/11/2021 @11:15am. They scheduled me on the wrong day. That day was for passports. I went the next Saturday on the 5/18 @5:45 it opens at 7:00am. The line wz short it started at 6:15am. The lady was rude from the beginning. She snapped at me. She asked you were born in Carmen. I said "no" that is the county of "Cameron". She got offended because. I corrected her. She did not ask me anything about my Mexican Mother. She saw my father was American. She started in on me. She asked if your dad is American where did you get your Mexican last name. I should brought a translator. I did not know how to tell her my father is from an American Indian Tribe in Michigan. I told her I can use my mother's "Naturalization paper" she said no. I said its on the computer. She denied me. All the women were dressed as if they were cleaning ladies the wore sandals or sneakers and tights. My husband and I visited this location today. We made an appointment for 7:15am and upon arrival there were about 15 people ahead of us. We arrived around 6:50am, parked in front of the building for 15 dollars and were passed security around 7:05am. My husband was there for his passport and INE and I was there for just my INE. Security checked the appointment list to make sure you were scheduled and once it's confirmed you are directed to another window where they will check your documents. Thankfully my husband had all his documents but what they don't mention on the website is that for the INE you also need a copy of your mothers/fathers birth certificate. This is only the case if you are a dual citizen. So again for the INE you will need your Mexican passport/ID, Mexican birth certificate, a copy of your mothers or father birth certificate and a bill for proof of address. Thankfully I had a picture of my mothers birth certificate so I had to Uber to staples to print it out. I was able to get back in line and they took me in. This process took 1 hour. My husband's wait time for passport and INE was 1 hour in half. The staff was nice and approachable. I didn't have any trouble communicating with them. I didn't experience any rude people and they were all friendly. I did notice that A-LOT of people didn't have the right documents so they got mad but again that's not the Mexican consulate fault. Just make sure you have an appointment and all the needed documents. Check the website and over prepare. I brought 5 different proof of residence just to make sure they didn't make it hard for me. I have gone to Santa Ana location as well and I honestly think this location is faster and easier since they have a better system. Santa Ana they go one by one and it's way smaller (only 2-3 window open) and the LA location has about 10 windows open and go by a number system. For example at the Santa Ana location I arrived at 9am and left around 4pm. Here I arrived at 6:50 am and even with a small hiccup (going to staples to print out documents and coming back to make line) I was out by 9:15am. Easy peasy. read more

Sylvia, the front desk employee/ registration check in person, was extremely rude and condescending. After calling me to her desk, she also called another person. I suspect she was trying to "help" two different people at the same time, but she handled it poorly. First of all, it's hard to hear her speak through thick glass and heavy accent, then add a second person to the situation and it just gets more chaotic. She handed me back some documents, but they weren't even mine!! They belonged to the woman next to me. If i hadn't been around paying attention, I would have walked away with someone else's important documents and vice versa. When I asked Sylvia if she could finish helping me and also told her that she gave me the wrong documents, she got upset, like I offended her in pointing out her error. At that point she called security bc she said I was "raising my voice" and that she would no longer help me. I'm glad she did bc the security guard was more helpful than her. He directed me to the correct room and individual that could help me. This particular employee (I think her name was Alejandra) was very helpful. It's a shame that Sylvia doesn't fully comprehend her employment responsibilities. It seems like she hates her job, but she shouldn't take out her anger and hate on the people she is hired to help. I've dealt with the Mexican consulate a few times in Los Angeles and the consulate on wheels in plaza Mexico. What I've learned is BRING EVERYTHING you have that you believe is relevant ! I tried to get a passport first time with on wheels consulate in long beach and I didn't have all the docs so the official told me the long list of items I needed. At the time I had no identification at all, so I had to bring a few item from school. He didn't mention to bring my high school diploma and I took it anyway day of Los Angeles visit . And guess what ? They asked for it ! So bring all you have. Things might be different now since most people can get CA licenses BUT BE PREPARED. So if your unsure of what to bring then go to a local on wheels consulate before making a trip to LA. Here is the link to on wheels locations and dates. There's so many lines and I had to keep asking where I'm supposed to go after each step of the process but I tried to follow everyone else . Across the street off Park view there is a parking lot with a guy in a trailer who does COPIES. And a man sells pens outside but I asked to borrow one . THEY ALLOW PHONES but put on silent . They have RESTROOMS. I attached several photos with info I collected there . You can look for street PARKING or pay 15 dollars on Park view right across or look for parking but be aware of street sweeping. See photos for info I c Read below if you want info on temporary vehicle permit to enter mexico : Im not sure if this process can be taken care of on wheels so we went to LA on 11\27\2017. They really stress having an appointment and generally it's better but they will help without appt. (For now) . You get priority with appt. I attached a photo on how to make an appt. They asked for the following : _Green card or Mexican passport . The lady yelled that they no longer take the credencial as a form ID. _PROOF of ownership A debit or credit card under the owners name to charge deposit Please see attached photos for info on rented cars and other info. We took 2 hours to finish process I attached photos with info I collected there Also this process can be done online now. See photo I attached UPDATE: I did this process online on 11/19/2018 It was fairly easy but you do need a scanner to upload your documents. It will ask for the document number for the green card and that means you put your alien number. ADD THE "A" FIRST or the system will say its an error. I didn't receive a confirmation email but I saw the charge on my credit card the next day so I hoped all was well. At the end it says that it will be delivered in 11 labor days. It arrived on the 24th which was really fast. It was sent from Dallas using priority mail. It included the permit and the sticker that goes on your car. You are given a folio number so keep that safe, If something goes wrong I believe you can take this folio number to the banjercitos at the border and they will give you the permit. I have had to come back several times for different documents and yes at first i was a bit lost, but everyone is very helpful and friendly and they will try their best to help you. It is important to make an appointment online or by phone. The 3 appointment process for legal documents can be frustrating but all legal documents everywhere are a pain as well. The employees are very professional and helpful , many people get upset at them but it is not their fault the way the process is set up. Getting a consulate card, birth certificate or passport is easy and fast, with an appointment you can be in and out in less than an hour, i wish the DMV was this way. Any consulate or Goverment institution requires patience and to be there early, read all information on requirements for what you need and make sure you take all needed documents and it will go smoother. Parking is easy if you get there early there is street parking if you wont be longer than 2 hours and theres a parking structure nearby which dosen't require that you leave your keys. I researched about what I needed and read so many different things that at the end I just made copies of her passport and took her original and didn't take anything else . Turned out to be super easy to renew and did not need anything but the appt and original passport. Here's the process: Make appointment by calling 1-877-Mexitel . Have your passport on hand. Show up to your appointment with just your passport and pen. No copies or photos needed . When you go through security they will tell you to go to the first windows to the left of building entrance. They will check your passport and assign you a number. Go inside and have a seat and wait for your number to be called ( like at the dmv) First window will take your photos and take fingerprints. Second window take your money. Third area you wait for your name to be called and they give you your passports old and new. Total time for my mom was 1hr 15 min. Because she's a senior it's 50% off the cost. read more

We signed our paperwork over one hour ago and the supervisor is sitting on our paperwork. The lady who helped us was nice. But now are sitting with kids, and it doesn't matter. We came here to process both our daughter's birth certificates. We had gone to the one in Santa Ana to process our passports and thought since this one was closer to where we lived it would be a lot easier. We made the appointment online like they had said and made sure we had all of our documents we needed per the list of requirements. When we arrived we went to the parking lot in front which charges 5 dollars every half an hour or 15 dollars for the whole day which I feel is super overpriced so we drove around and found one next to the street. Once we got inside the building, the receptionist asked us if we had an appointment, which we did and why we were there. We told her it was for a birth certificate and she gave us a number. She didn't tell us where to go so we asked around and a security guard told us it was upstairs. Just a side note it feels like you're in nomads land no one gives you any instructions you kinda have to figure it out yourself. Once we got upstairs, we sat down and waited. The screens were not on so we didn't know what number they were on, so I guess the ticket is worthless. A few minutes later, a lady with a clip board came out and asked if anyone had an appointment. We told her we did and she asked only one of us go in. Since my husband was with me, he went into the office. My husband mentioned that we were not born in Mexico but we had received our citizenship through our parents but because our daughters are third generation they would not qualify and they would not process the paperwork. He asked if they could provide proof of this. All they had to say was that this information was on the Internet and they could not provide any documentation related to this. We left feeling like it was all a waste of time, but I look into this and saw that Article 30 had recently changed to provide citizenship to third generation. My concern in all this is the people at the embassy not aware of this change in article. Why are they brushing off people and having them go repeatedly because of petty excuses? People are taking time off of work and spending money to get important documents done. read more

This is probably the best experience I've had with a Government Institution ever! I was expecting to be here for at least half a day but I was pleasantly surprised that I was in and out under 2.5 hours, it would've been sooner but I went to the wrong waiting area. First, you need an appointment, if you do not have one do not bother showing up, they will just ask you to call and make an appointment. The only way they will take you as a walk-in, is if you have an emergency and you need to show proof by providing an Airplane ticket. Once your appointment is confirmed and your documents are in order, (I went for a Passport) they give you a slip with a number on it to fill out and go INSIDE the building, do not sit outside unless you are getting a permit for your car to take into mexico then you sit outside. Once inside, you wait for your number to be called. Once your number is called show them your paperwork they ask you simple questions to confirm for accuracy and send you to pay for whatever service you are getting. Once you pay, they send you to a second waiting area to wait until your name is called. Once your name is called show them your receipt and they will give your back your original documents and the item you were there for, for me it was a Passport. and that's it, you are done! Quick tips 1. Make an appointment 2.You can pay with cash or credit card 3. Copies of your documents are not needed as mentioned on their website. 4. Do not fall for the guy selling a pen at the entrance, they will provide one for you to use or just take one 5. You do not need to take passport photos ahead of time, they take your picture while you wait. 6. Arrive at least 30 minutes before your appointment time read more

Zero star if that's possible . The visa lady is the worst . Basically you can't even ask her a simple question .about what's going on . The phone number they have on file never connects to the visa department . And you can't find the appointment link on line either . When you come , she will yell at you because you do not have an appointment and refuse to answer your question which is ( do I actually need a visa ) this is such a simple question , but she doesn't even let me ask , but told me write down my name , and if she finished all the files today, then she may have the time to answer me . I am wondering why and who even pays her to work . The consulate officers should be nice and kind because they are basically the representatives of their nations. This may be no surprise to anyone. But having the most population of Mexicans out of any city in Mexico you can imagine the volume of business this "shack" has. Still, they manage to be a total wreck. Why in the goddamn hell we have a consulate that doesn't live to the expectations of being in a first-world country? It's a nightmare!!! From making an appointment thru their useless website to waiting half a day making a line to get in, to using their 800 number to speak to someone. Not to mention the security people that treat you like you are some kind of threat. This is the worst Consulate I have ever been to. I tried to obtain a Temporary Residence Visa. The woman at the counter Paloma Rodriguez was the rudest person I have dealt with. I provided my retirement account with over $250,000 quarterly statements for the last 2 years and she would not accept. Apparently, Mexican Law requires $25,000 (USD) in an account for each month for 12 months. It's clear Mexico is building their own wall. Do not go to this Consulate. read more
