Sure you can get someone reliable if you pay 1/2 a point above average market rates but that defeats the purpose. If you go on the low spectrum, good luck getting a proper follow-up (I've been held up for up to 4.5 months on a refi). The trick is to find someone who is reliable but has a reasonable rate (not necessarily the lowest). Dave definitely hits the sweet spot. He is responsive, his team is prompt to move through with underwriting at a fast pace, and the closing dates don't get overextended. While you may scratch your head as to why I'm saying this, you have no idea how mortgage brokers are operating in this low rate environment unless you experience it. It is not uncommon to not hear from your broker in 2 months after your application is approved - only to find out there are further delays. You don't want to incur any of these risks and the delays result in opportunity costs on your end (b/c you are paying higher interest rates until the new rate kicks in). I can't stress how great Dave has been so far and I look forward to continue working with him in the future.

For us, it was important to have a consistent, responsive loan officer who understood our needs and our market, that is why we called Chris Sittig. We have turned to Chris for our lending needs in the past and once again did a great job. He is always professional in presenting the lending options to meet our needs. He is always available to answer our questions directly by phone, text or email and he is willing to rerun the numbers based on our evolving needs and changing markets. Chris was a great communicator throughout the process, which is not the experience we had with seeking assistance from the online lenders who promised low rates. In fact, the loan rate we received from First Home Mortgage was lower than the two online lenders we consulted.
