I had previously made an appointment at a different imaging center and quickly cancelled due to my fear of feeling claustrophobic. I researched open MRI machines and found Medical Insights Diagnostics (Inview Imaging). I scheduled my appointment for a few weeks out and had it today. My appointment was at 10am and I showed up a few minutes prior. I filled out three quick forms and was taken into a changing room where I was able to store my phone, keys, wallet, etc. I was taken into the MRI room and was immediately put at ease with how roomy the open MRI is. I did not have to change into a gown for my scan and I even got to keep my shoes on. I laid down on the table and was given a cushion to go under my legs and two smaller cushions to go next to my head. I was also given ear plugs. I inquired about headphones to listen to music, but because of the scan I was having I was not able to listen to music. Since I was having a brain scan I had to wear a coil over my head, which was comparable to a football helmet. I was handed a "panic ball" that I could squeeze if I needed to be pulled out of the machine and they sent me inside. My scan lasted 20 minutes, but felt much faster. I was able to remain calm the entire time and even opened my eyes a few times. I cannot describe the relief I felt upon finishing my scan and exiting the machine. I grabbed my things, paid, and within 5 minutes I had the CD of the scan. If you have anxiety or claustrophobia I highly recommend coming here for your MRI. The open MRI is spacious and the MRI techs made me feel comfortable. I will be coming back here for any future MRIs.

I had a CT scan scheduled with BASS Imaging for over a week. When I called, I spoke with a representative named Tanya, and the experience was extremely upsetting. She was impatient, dismissive, and spoke to me with very little patience. Several times while I was trying to explain my situation, she muted me while I was still talking. I have never experienced anything like that before. It made me feel ignored, disrespected, and honestly humiliated. What made the situation even worse was the confusion regarding my insurance. Tanya told me my insurance had not approved the CT scan and that my only options were to cancel my appointment or pay about $1,200 out of pocket. I contacted my insurance company, and they explained that they do work with BASS Imaging. The issue was that they had repeatedly asked BASS for the exact amount needed to approve the scan, but they were unable to get it. When I called BASS again later, another representative gave me completely different information. At that point, I no longer knew who was telling me the truth. I wasn't asking for anything special. I was simply trying to understand the situation and find a solution so I could get an important medical test done. Instead, I felt like I was treated as if I was a burden and that they just wanted to get me off the phone. I truly hope BASS Imaging takes this feedback seriously. Medical situations are stressful enough, and patients deserve to be treated with respect, patience, and compassion. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through the experience I had. Update: Thank you for your response. I would like to clarify one important point. During my call, I asked to speak with a manager because I felt the conversation was going nowhere. Tanya told me there was no manager available and that she was the highest-ranking person there. My concern was never just the insurance issue. It was the way I was treated. If Tanya is indeed the highest-ranking person available to speak with patients, that is even more concerning because someone in that position should set the standard for professionalism, communication, and compassion. It has now been almost a week since this happened, and despite your response here, no manager has contacted me to discuss my experience. You mentioned that I should contact the imaging center and ask to speak with a manager. I already tried to do exactly that during my original phone call, but I was told there was no manager available. I truly hope you review the recorded phone calls. They will clearly show how the conversation was handled. My goal is not to get anyone in trouble. I simply don't want another patient to go through the same experience I had.

When I booked the appointment I was told on the phone that my husband couldn't be in the room with me since the ultrasound room was "too small". On top of that, the technician wasn't very nice and immediately told me "I'm not telling you anything and you won't be getting any ultrasound pictures". She wouldn't let me even view the screen throughout the ultrasound. She hardly spoke to me the entire hour I was in there. It was such a disheartening experience not even getting to see my own baby. After my abdominal ultrasound, she didn't leave the room for me to undress. I felt completely violated and uncomfortable. I had a positive experience in June, which is why I asked my PCP to place the order there when BASS Imaging told me they don't do MRAs. I didn't have to wait long for my MRI and the tech (sorry, I don't remember her name but it was Indian) was friendly. When I called to schedule last Wednesday, I was able to get an appointment in five days. This morning, I woke up to a voice message from Bayside Imaging saying that they need to cancel my appointment because they don't do MRAs. WHAT? They should have told me when I called to schedule the exam that they don't do it, not AFTER they scheduled! It's the scheduler's responsibility to know what exams they do and don't do. If she wasn't sure, she should have said, "I'm not sure we do MRAs, let me find out and call you back". Appointments shouldn't be cancelled by a practice other than unforeseen circumstances. The scheduling staff needs better training so they don't schedule patients they have to cancel later. Scheduling errors on the part of the practice is NOT an "unforeseen circumstance" per the quotation below. "Poor planning on your part doesn't constitute as an emergency on my part". When I spoke to the receptionist, she was apologetic and tried to see if any other Bayside locations do MRAs. She said they don't so I told her the website needs to be updated. Their website said they do MRAs, which is one reason I asked my doctor to place the order after BASS said they don't do them. It's bad business practice for a company to say they offer services that they actually don't. As others stated, I sometimes had to leave voice messages DURING BUSINESS HOURS that weren't returned. Though I was able to reach someone when I called after leaving messages, there's no reason I shouldn't be able to speak to someone or not get my call retuned during business hours. Bayside needs to hire more people because they are clearly understaffed if messages aren't returned in a timely manner. This review should be 2-2.5 stars but I'm rounding up because of the friendly staff and ability to get sooner appointments compared to John Muir. Next time I need an imaging test, I would call Bayside Imaging BEFORE asking my doctor to place the order to avoid the above situation from happening. I want to give them another chance but I don't want to delay care due to scheduling errors that are the fault of the practice.

My 82 year old father was scheduled for a…read morekidney biopsy with Dr. Asandra and she called me that morning after reviewing his records and re-scheduled the biopsy for a time when she could biopsy and treat the tumor at the same time. So essentially, the biopsy was safer because she froze the needle tract and tumor at the same time, so there was less chance of the tumor spreading from the hole created by the biopsy. It saved my dad an open surgery where they would cut out half of his kidney. It was the more minimally invasive way to do it. Not all doctors know about this new treatment that requires only a few 5 mm incisions rather than a big open surgery. That could be why it wasn't recommended to begin with. It's more commonly done at academic centers where they are very current with medical advances. It's very common where Dr. Asandra trained at Stanford and still teaches occasionally. This type of treatment may require more than one freeze (kind of like a wart may require more than one freeze). But it's better than a big open surgery! I can't thank her enough because the other way could have made the cancer spread. She thoroughly explained everything, gave me her email address, and made herself available to me in case I had questions or concerns and always replied right away. My father has had a follow up CT scan and everything looks good. She is amazing, well educated, and has high grades on healthgrades.com. I just wish she could be my father's Primary Care Doctor. She is an angel. Healthgrades.com lists her locations as does the johnmuirhealth.com website. With a little searching, you can find her. TWO YEAR FOLLOW UP: My dads tumor appears to be dead. He gets an ultrasound or CT every six months and it has not changed. Dr. Asandra takes the time to go there and review the reports even though she isn't his doctor, then she emails me. Who does that?
