This place is awesome! The staff truly love the animals they care for. I adopted the perfect little kitten. They listened carefully to me and when they thought they had the right little girl they called me and she was the perfect match for our family. The adoption fee seemed high but boy do you get a bang for your buck. They wormed her, given all of her shots, spayed her and microchipped her. The cost for all of it would have been so much higher at my vet! Even if you are not ready to adopt, stop by with kitty litter or food. Extra collars and leashes, kennels, toys. They are a nonprofit and these donations can really help. read more

My husband and I adopted our two sweet pups from CASI in October 2024. These dogs came to the shelter from an unusual situation (in a home with around 40 other dogs) so they had some adjusting to do. Tracy and Leah at CASI helped us so much with advice and guidance on socializing the dogs and helping them to settle in. CASI is a no kill shelter. The animals they care for are literally saved from euthanasia by the long hours of work that these folks do day in and day out (often without any thanks from anyone). The adoption fees can be a little bit more here but these funds help provide for more animals that would otherwise not have a chance to survive. Do I recommend this shelter? You bet I do! HORRIBLE customer service, employees are rude and unhelpful. I walked in to hear a lady saying may I help you and staring me down like a psycho, and I'm pretty sure she was on some type of drugs. Woman on phone was very rude and cut me off when I was asking her if the shelter took Practicum students from the high school to work there and she continued to cut me off and said rudely they weren't hiring. Definitely wouldn't want to work there. read more

Love this place i would go here for more than a month. Think two months now but all of a sudden they say i can not come in! Im upset i tried to go in today and i did i asked and they said yes! So i went in and this ONE girl said no EVERYONE else said yes i can go in except HER!!! And i miss going in with the animals! They have a HUGE FAT cat named tuffy and i miss going in to pet him! He is one of the only things that will make me happy! So please let me go back in! Im not doing anything to anyone or any of the animals! Also i think you should treat those animals like pets or a bit nicer! There where these two dogs and every time i go in there they are happy but when i went in today they where scared and frighten and something happened so please hear my voice and act upon my request!! read more

In the 25 years that I have lived here in Converse I have gone to the animal shelter multiple times the staff are always busy however if you ask them a question or you need to know something about a particular animal there they always know everything they know the medical status they know the vulnerabilities they know everything about those animals I have noticed through the years that these people truly love these animals that's what it's all about it's an animal shelter and it's full of love I also know that they do some community outreach and if you're in trouble and you need help with your pet they will go above and beyond they will help you as best as they can I see there's some negative comments and people need to realize that right now shelters are beyond capacity these people are doing all that they can to love and protect these animals I would absolutely hope that the people that are going in are understanding that the animals are the priority and they get love water food veterinary Care each and every day. I am so thankful to the converse animal shelter and all they do for our community. read more

I volunteered at this no-kill shelter today, for the first time. What a great temporary home for these animals. Every cage and area is cleaned everyday by staff members that love the animals. I will be going back! If you need a pet their prices are very reasonable. read more
