I drive out of my way passing several hardware stores and locksmiths to this place whenever I need a key made. Why? Because EVERY TIME I go somewhere else I get a key that sticks in the lock and/or I have to jiggle a certain way to get my door to unlock. I like to call these "murder keys" because I always envision myself in some horror or suspense movie where I'm frantically trying to get into my house away from some murderer but my $#@! key doesn't work so I die a horrible death where I leave my bloody handprints on the door and my keys hanging in the lock for my family to find in the morning. I was planning to stop by Home Depot to get key copied. As luck would have it, I spotted this locksmith on the way to where I was going, and quickly navigated my way back to the plaza where it sits in. I walked in, showed the gentleman the key I needed copied, and walked out two minutes later. He even gave me a free thicker style keyring which was much appreciated. ***TOTAL FRAUDSTER*** Ripoff. What a joker. I called this guy to ask about making a key for my car. He isn't properly registered so he couldn't make my key for my 2015 Mazda 6. Thank goodness. He sends me to his buddy who normally charges $85 for this fee, but he tries to charge me $145 for it. It was the weirdest convo hearing him tell his buddy, "Oh yeah... and hey... Not everyone can explain immediately what they need and this guy not only was rude, impatient and did not let me speak or talking over me. but had no customer service skills. If you're not going to have patience with people you're in the wrong business. Some people could be slow at speaking due many reasons. The lock worked but if you left and tried to lock the door from the outside you could not lock the dead bolt from the outside. Even if he had not been successful In programming the 2004 Hyundai Sonata car fob that I had purchased from Amazon, I still would say I had a good experience with Mike, the proprietor of this locksmith shop. Mike was direct and upfront with the non-refundable labor cost and gave me a secondary option in case the car fob from Amazon didn't work. This company charges $65 just to show up at your door. Then they charge you extra for labor to fix whatever the problem is. They do not give you an approximate estimate on the phone and claim that they must see the lock before they give you an estimate. Come on people locks are your specialty. After seeing their review on yelp I called to have a deadbolt replaced and end up paying more than $200 for it. When he gave me his invoice his charges were more than what he told me when he got there and his total was wrong and more than what the total should have been even if we used his numbers and he was charging me sales tax on labor! Luckily I had made a note of the prices and did my own calculation before I pay him. Now I noticed that most of the reviews are for getting keys made at their shop. Anybody can make a key. I went to home Depot and had keys made. It took 20 min and when i got home the keys didn't work. I went back and they remade the keys. It took 20 min and they were still effed up. Mike really helped me out of a jam today, I couldn't have asked for better service! I stopped by his shop because the old, worn ignition key for my 4Runner kept getting stuck in the ignition and sometimes wouldn't turn at all. I almost was stranded in the parking lot at work yesterday (the horror!). First, he cut me a new key blank (no chip) to test, but this got stuck too--now I was stuck! He immediately called one of his mobile guys in from the field to help. Jeff had to tear the whole ignition lock cylinder assembly out of the car, disassemble it, remove some of the broken "split wafers" and put it all back together again. Now it worked great, even with my original worn key! Mike then cut another key (chipped) and reprogrammed it for me so I have a spare--for free! This is my first yelp review, I felt I needed to share this great experience. I installed a security screen door at my rental, everything went great except the latch was off by 1/16 of an inch. I yelped locksmith and by luck I happened upon Mikes place. For two days I racked my brain, walked in explained to Mike and he came up with a couple of great solutions. The best option needed the use a Rivot Gun, I don't own one, with out hesitating Mike hooked me up with a box of misc oversized door strikes a Rivot Gun, Rivots, and away I went no exchange of money or info.
