I accidentally locked myself out at 10:30pm right as I was taking my dog out before I planned to go to bed. Pretty upsetting thing to do late at night but I was fortunate to find this locksmith right away. Mike said he would be over in 25 minutes and he called me about 30 minutes later to let me know he was on his way. He was polite and quickly got me back into my apartment. I chose this place because of the good reviews I saw on this page. This is my experience: I lost the keys to my 2004 Acura RL and called QLP to craft a new key. I explained my situation to them and they said that it was no problem and that they would be there within 45 minutes to program a new key for $185. Because of the time and reasonable price, I agreed to their services. Long story short, two technicians and 8 hours later (nonstop delays and empty promises) I was told that they were unable to program my key and that the only method was to "reflash" or reprogram the entire software of my car. Al told me this process would cost upwards to $1000 and he would not able to do it. At this point it was 10 pm and I had been waiting since 1 pm for their services, with no way of getting a new key that night. The next day, I called Al again who told me the same thing (that it would be a very expensive process that he could not do, and said VERY few locksmith's in San Diego could do such a job). I did my own research with the information he gave me, called the Acura Dealership (who charged $150 for the job), and eventually found another locksmith who could do it for $135. Basically, the other locksmith told me that Al and QLP used the WRONG FUCKING KEY to program into my car. The other locksmith finished the job within 30 minutes and I was good to go. TL;DR: QLP is highly unprofessional, untimely, and unhelpful. I would strongly advise against using QLP Locksmith services. Do your research - there are much cheaper, efficient, and better locksmiths in San Diego. read more

Needing a locksmith is a stressful moment to be caught up in and the cost of their service has to fit within someone's budget. I called this company to request a quote to rekey a deadbolt on behalf of some friends who are in the process of moving and need to turn the key (that they just lost) over to the new occupant. I thought I'd do the work of calling for pricing to help them out and after calling QLP, I regret that. Of the 6 companies I spoke to, the price ranged from $64-$110. I did not receive a quote from QLP because the person on the other end of the phone was so rude. The man wanted me to tell him what price I thought was a fair price. Best prices in the area for programming today's chipped ignition keys and car remotes. $110.00/set!!! I was quoted as much as $250. In less than an hour Alan cut/programmed two keys and programmed two remotes for a total of $220. I bought the keys/remotes online(do your homework and buy the right ones for your vehicle) for a fraction of what the dealer would have charged and saved several hundred $$$ more using QLP to program/cut them. So my daughter's car battery died and it has a Lazer cut transponder key which when the battery dies it cuts fuel to the fuel pump. I called Al from quick lock and pick and he showed up FAST! He recoded the key and ECU but it still didn't start. He told me it should have started and that it probably had some other issues. He worked on the car for two hours and didn't charge me dime. Honestly, one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I called ahead to get an estimate for the job and was quoted a reasonable price. When the technician arrived he wanted MORE THAN DOUBLE - saying that my locks were too complicated for the price I had been quoted (ps they are nothing fancy - from HD). I told him this was false advertising - if I had been quoted the actual price, I would never have agreed to have him come out. He tried to bargain with me, but I honestly have no desire to do business with a dishonest company. I already had a quote from another company that was $125 cheaper. AND on top of that, he demanded a $25 service fee for doing absolutely nothing other than trying to WAY overcharge me. Thanks but no thanks. I had a tow hitch lock that had rusted on to my vehicle. Not an emergency, but certainly inconvenient. I stopped by the shop and (I believe it was) Al took a look and tried to free my rust-locked receiver pin with his fancy lock picking tools. After ultimately being unable to remove the pin even after cutting me a new key, he gave me my two options - pay to have him drill it out and cut off, or just take care of it myself, effort in diagnosis and new key given free of charge.
