Dr. Porter and Dr. Sarah are by far the BEST veterinarians in the area. In 2005, I adopted a yorkie, Fancy, and she constantly was sick. We took her to one vet. after another, spending thousands of dollars over two years, only to leave each one without answers. My in-laws had taken their dog to Dr. Porter around that time and recommended him. At the first appointment, Dr. Porter ordered some blood work that showed our yorkie was allergic to basically everything in dog food and had many environmental allergies. Dr. Porter put our pup on a special diet and gave us instructions on how to manage her allergy flares (symptoms ranging from itching and eczema to vomiting- depending on the allergen). Within a week of seeing Dr. Porter, we had a treatment plan for our dog and she was improving. Now, over a decade later, we rescued another puppy and brought him right away to see Dr. Porter. Our new puppy, Sam, was only 7 weeks old when we rescued him. He had exploratory surgery for a hernia the day before we got him. His incision opened and he was in pain. Conway Vet. Hospital got Sam in right away. They quickly took care of his incision site and prescribed him some pain killers. I was able to send in photos as the incision healed and received prompt responses back from Dr. Porter or Dr. Sarah, providing assistance and reassurance. Sam is now almost a year and will continue to be a patient at CVH. If you are in the Orlando area, these two amazing vets. are truly incredible. Find another vet. Don't go to this one. Dr. Porter and his office pressured my Mom and I to relinquish a perfectly good cat to Animal Services. They thought our cat was rabid as he had bitten my elderly mother. The cat was less than a year old; we wanted to get him neutered. We were there for an exam and (rabies) shots, as is necessary before surgery. The situation was made worse as my Mom was in tears. And the office never returned our pet carrier in which we brought the cat to the office. We did not feel heard, much less welcomed, as a new patient. We eventually got the kitten (under a year old is considered a kitten) back later that night. And we were cited by the county for not vaxxing. And we had to complete an online good pet ownership class. And we had to pay a fee. All of this unnecessary and time consuming. A word to the wise is sufficient. Go somewhere else! read more

Highly recommend Dr. Porter for all of your veterinary needs. Dr. Porter is wicked smart, keeps up to date on all of the latest research, knows and understands medications, benefits, downsides and dog demeanor. He has the best bedside manner. Our dog is not fearful at all about coming to visit him, even though we recently rescued her from the shelter and we're afraid a clinical environment may be overwhelming for her. His vet techs are excellent, empathetic and patient. I have not found any issues with the front office, and would remind folks they're managing a lot of moving parts with many animals in the lobby. I'd also like to thank Dr. Porter and his son (I believe) for being so kind to my Dad and brother when they had to put our beloved family dog, Sadie, to sleep while I was living in DC. We've doubted a few troubling diagnoses, but after following up with vet specialists, Dr. Porter is always right! We would not trust our pets with anyone else. The front office staff are indeed rude and incompetent. The woman receptionist was abusive and insulting. I could not use the waiting room, was forced to spend over a half hour with a sick pet cat in 80-degree temperature. Once inside they treat you like a leper and are psychotic and excessive in their Covid-19 protocols. There is no sensitivity to the feelings and needs of human beings. Dr Porter and the staff that treat animals are good, but the reception ruined it for me. I will not come back. The so-called clinic needs serious attitude adjustment!!! read more

I called for a last minute appointment as a new patient and was readily accommodated with an appointment and concern for my pet. They quickly took us in and got tests going. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they obviously love animals! My dog got her diagnosis and her meds, they explained that they would follow up with a call to see how she is, and instructions on how to administer the meds. Dr. Porter and the vet techs are absolutely lovely and some of the kindest and smartest I've ever met, but the front office staff is rude and incompetent and frankly ruins the experience. I've brought my three dogs there but was belittled by a member of the front desk staff telling me I've only been there once as her reason for not understanding my frustration. I don't really know why it would matter how many times I had been there when they couldn't seem to understand their mistake and take ownership and correct it. Took my kitty for her 90 day post-surgery check-up! Dr. Porter looked my little girl over and poked at her bladder and felt that he would be unable to get a urine sample from her at the time I brought her. He didn't even bother sticking her over and over and took great care to not stress an already anxious cat out more. It was probably the least stressful vet visit Yuki has ever had. Instead, I was given "Lab Litter" and instructions to get a urine sample from her litterbox at home and to drop it off when I could get it to be analyzed and make sure there was no lingering infection that needed to be treated. I was shocked that there was NO CHARGE for my follow-up appointment and I only paid $4.00 for a pound of Lab Litter. Ruff, ruff, pant, drool. (Per Mags) After being a client of another local clinic for two dogs and 8 years, we needed something different from a vet. Upon recommendation, Mags and I visited Dr Porter for the first time in July 2010. The staff was courteous, which is a must. Wait time was minimal, which was something we weren't used to. We just got back from another visit (this time due to an ear infection and a booster shot). It was an unplanned and unscheduled visit and the office worked us in graciously and quickly. Dr. Porter and his staff were very nice to both of us and very gentle with the shot and with his ears.( Mags said neither of them hurt a bit and even though he was nervous and shy, he's glad we got in and fixed up!) read more

This never ends. was given only a six month prescription for the one heart worm prescription they would give me. They only would provide me with a six month and a refill for another six month. Asked for a year and they said they could not. just called other vets and they all do a full year. Now I have to buy to separate six month supplies paying more with double shipping. Why? I feel that this place is a bit overpriced. Though the staff is always friendly and the reminder calls before your scheduled appointment are nice, I feel that costs, pill pushing, and added extras are a bit much. Disposable fee for needles are $9.. annual check ups are not thorough check ups and those are $50. (I'm not asking for x-rays or anything like that durning a annual checkup) but just using a stethoscope to hear a heart beat and not checking teeth or eyes... feels almost like I'm being robbed of my money. I'm sad to have to change Veterinary hospital because I always want to believe this field should be more in the interest of an animals wellbeing than profiting After my dog going here for a year, we found another place with good reviews and fairer pricing. I'm not looking for "cheap", because you get what you pay for in most cases, but there are times when you realize unfair pricing is happening and you have to walk away. read more

Dr. Porter and his wonderful staff took care of our four guide dogs for 15 years. They were always competent, compassionate, and willing to go above and beyond. They not only provided the best care for our dogs, but treated them and us with respect and kindness, always keeping in mind the unique circumstances of a guide dog team. My husband and I went on several international cruises with our guide dogs. Dr. Porter and Donna were amazing with all the paperwork required for the cruise line and the various ports we visited. International pet travel is such a tricky maze to navigate. We so appreciated their guidance, research, and efficient handling of everything. Our family has since relocated to Colorado Springs, and we miss Dr. Porter and his staff so much! It's funny how you never know how good something is until it's gone. I used to get frustrated with my inability to get quick appointments. Which was hard because I had an elderly dog, Chewie. The day Chewie passed, I was more than a wreck. We were the last appointment for the day, and I was faced with putting my 15 year old best friend to sleep. Dr. Porter let me wait for my husband to come, and we said goodbye to a piece of our hearts. The whole staff was so understanding even though it was hours after close. They let me leave my car because I couldn't drive. They took care of the after arrangements, and called when Chewie's ashes were ready. Now I live out of state. I miss the postcards for updating shots, the check on calls after shots, the personality of the pet loving staff, and my wonderful veterinary doctor. If you haven't been inside, the facility is new and super clean. Good things come for those who wait, so I would wait the couple of days for an appointment. Dr. Porter is super nice and is really good with my dogs. He has a caring touch that dogs seem to like. Some of the other employees my dogs are a lil afraid of I think (because of "snip snip"). Wait times aren't ever too long, typically like 0 - 15 minutes. Dr. Porter is usually prompt to see you once you are in the examination room. We took our brand new puppy to Dr. Porter after the great reviews I read online. I couldn't have picked a better Vet for my baby chihuahua . He was very professional, friendly, and made my puppy feel at ease for her first shots. As first time puppy owners he gave us great advice and was very patient with us, didn't make us feel rushed. Right from the start they all had SUCH amazing energy. I just rescued my dog a month ago and everyone went out of their way to be so kind and they were so helpful. My dog gets car sick and had thrown up on the seat cover right when we got there and not only did they offer to give wipes to help clean, but one of the doctors and vet tech cleaned it for me! Each person was nicer than the next. They had such amazing suggestions and were very helpful. I had a lot of questions and they were more than happy to help me. I don't think I've ever had such a good experience at any business. The pricing is more than fair. It's conveniently located near me but even if it wasn't I would go out of my way to make the drive just so I could go to them. I don't think I will ever go somewhere else. Doctor Sara was so real about what was good for my dog and didn't once try to upsell me and get to buy things that my dog didn't need. read more
