Elijah is great. He has been grooming my dog Mia since I got her 7 years ago. My dog hates baths but loves Elijah even though he " tortures her" every time she's there. She is a drama Queen if I'm there talking with Elijah while he's working on her she will cry her face off. But if I'm behind the curtain and she thinks I left she's fine . She's always excited to see him and she always comes home looking beautiful and smelling fresh! Idk what he uses, but her face smells like blueberries and flowers for at least 2 weeks after her grooming! You can tell Elijah's love for dogs and all animals very quickly when meeting him and seeing his interactions with the dogs there. He was the first dog groomers downtown 15 years ago, and even though he has a small shop tucked away he survived the pandemic and street construction and closures in front of his shop. I've taken our Pomeranian mix to Sparky's a few times. Each time she comes back happy and beautifully groomed! Even her teeth are sparkling! She's a tough little dog to groom because she doesn't like to be touched by others, but they do a wonderful job with her. Everyone there is friendly and professional and they seem to love animals. I have been to Sparky's twice now and have walked out happy both times. The first time I got the full groom for my yorkiepoo and the second time I did the mini groom. The price has ranged from $40-$48 which is the same I was paying a Petsmart but at Sparky's I get a better groom and better experience. My dog has walked out happy both times and looking great! I have taken my Shih-Tzu Poodle mix for a full groom twice and have been very pleased with Sparky's. I am very particular about where my dog is groomed- mostly due to his nervous nature and a few bad experiences with other pet salons. So you can imagine my relief when the gentleman at the desk greeted my pup like he was his own when we first walked in. They have followed my request for a puppy cut but also did a standard cut for his breed when I forgot to ask for something specific. Both times, he came out looking clean and adorable, with a happy disposition and no nicks or cuts... (yes, I check for cuts!) Plain and simple-Make Sparky's your go to groomer/crate free groomer. You'll never regret it. Why? I got my dog about 5 years ago-about a year into his life he went from stranger friendly to very protective and volatile, which is a problem when every 4-6 weeks it's time for a haircut. I tried 3 other pet salons before Sparky's. 2 of the 3 called me within 30 minutes of dropping him off asking me to come get him as he was too aggressive and could not be groomed. The third gave him a basic hair cut, and said they did not complete the grooming services as my boy was getting upset/aggressive. Then I brought him to Sparky's, I expected to experience the same type of reaction as the other salons. However, every time, within a couple of hours my boy would be ready for pick up with a beautiful dog show quality style hair cut. After about a year of going to Elijah, the owner/manager, he was happy to report that that particular day was the first time he didn't need to use a muzzle on my boy (I didn't even know a muzzle was being used/that he was misbehaving). If that's not patience and professionalism, I don't know what is. To this day, 5 years later, Elijah and Sparky have become our very good friends. And although still stand offish of strangers, my dog now is now not only excited to go to Sparky's for baby sitting or a haircut, but he doesn't even get anxious to leave my side (never the case). The amount of love and care in this shop, and this owner, is really something special. The quality of service/cleanliness/professionalism cannot be beat. You won't be disappointed. We went here several times and our last visit will be our last. Sparky's nicked our dog and was unapologetic about it. They did not even mention the nick when we came in to pick up our puppy. We noticed it and had to enquire about it. They simply told us its not that bad. It took over three weeks to completely heal. The 'nick' was about 5/8" long. We came in a separate time in order to pick up our dog, and the owner was in a huge fight with an employee and the police were there. I would not recommend going here. read more

My 4 month old Yorkie Milo and I visited Sparky's for hisfirst grooming experience yesterday and I must say it was Great! As soon as we walked in they greeted Milo by name and were very welcoming. I handed Milo over and I loved how they treated him as if he was their own and were super sweet with him. We discussed how I wanted Milo styled and with in the hour Milo was groomed and looked soo handsome! They even gave him an organic snowflake cookie which he loved! Unfortunate encounter with the owner of Sparky's. Seems on the surface to be nice. But the second visit, I called for an appointment and was told to bring my dog in at 10:00 am the next day. When there I asked when to pick her up, he said "I don't know, we are very busy". I did not think much about it until I remembered how much my poor doggy was shaking when I left. I made an appointment to avoid leaving her there a long time. I called as soon as I got home and asked again, explaining that I made an appointment to avoid long stays for a nervous dog. He became very defensive and ended up demanding that I quit rushing him and eventually ordered me to pick my dog up immediately and hung up on me. Very rude, arrogant and unprofessional behavior. Too bad, it's close, but I don't trust my dog there now even if he would do it. I was not rushing him, I was simply trying to get a time frame from him and he was so, so defensive and rude. Beware! Maybe just a bad day for him???? In response to the owner's response to my FACTUAL review: I called the day before and was asked to come in at 10, that is NOT a lie. You absolutely did not say that you were very busy and I absolutely DID NOT "come anyways". What it is, is amazing that you would say that I lied about that! What rational or motivation would I have to lie about such a thing. I have the call record on my phone. To me, that is an appointment, feel free to look up the definition on Google. You even called it an appointment in your reply . The first time that I heard that you were very busy was when I asked when I should expect Daisy to be ready for pickup. Walking home, it dawned on me that I did, indeed have an appointment and I did not want my recently rescued puppy to sit in a cage for hours waiting to you to get to her.... that is why I called you the day before. She is very nervous and has been through enough trama. I even brought pieces of chicken for treats so that she would hopefully calm down and want to come back to you. I was in no rush, it could have waited until another day but YOU suggested 10:00 am the next day, not me. I was actually surprised that you had an opening so soon. I made the honest assumption that you were filling a slot in your schedule as all business people do. I made no effort to make a "LAST MINUTE" appointment... again, you suggested 10:00 am the next day. Who am I to question your suggestion as to when you could provide a service that I am calling about. When I arrived, you acted as if you were expecting me, as you should have because you were! Nothing was said about being too busy until I was leaving and asked what time I should pick her up. IF YOU WERE SO BUSY, YOU MUST HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THAT THE DAY BEFORE. WHY DID YOU TELL ME TO BRING MY DOGGY IN AT 10:00 AM IF YOU WERE NOT EVEN SURE WHEN YOU WOULD GET TO HER??? You are correct, when you became defensive and irrational when I simply asked what time I should pick her up and that I had made plans around the appointment, I did say, I have a damn appointment! Never did I cuss at you or disrespect you. I was reacting to the very defensive, demeaning, entitled, disrespectful, condescending and rude attitude that you were portraying. Frankly, it was shocking. I never asked you to rush the other dogs. I would simply expect that you schedule your customers in a responsible manner and if you make a mistake, own up to it like a man. You NEVER asked me if I wanted to make an appointment for another day. In fact, you said that you did not want to service my doggy and to come get her right now and that I should us an in-home service rather than your service. You did text me with an apology and reiterated that I needed to come get my dog right now. If there is any doubt about what happened and how this owner apparently has a short fuse, take a look at the other 1 and 2 star reviews. I am not alone in my experience. He has a temper and can be irrational apparently. Good for you folks that have had a good experience with him but, don't dare ask when you should pick your dog up (apparently too much pressure) and don't expect that he actually makes reasonable appointments. He is like the soup Natzy! I'll give him the benefit of a doubt, rather than call HIM a liar, maybe he simply forgot that he is the one that SCHEDULE ME to come in the prior day, what with his being so busy. It happens, but be a man! Beware... he has a temper and can be irrational and very, very defensive. I've read some of his reviews today indicating that there are some other problems. My first visit was ok, he did once again, tell me to come in the next day, the 24th as he said. But there was no "fitting in" language on his part. At check out, the owner did not say a word!!! Due to a tight business schedule, I returned to the salon an hour later. By then, my car with white/cream leather interior is COVER in blood!! The entire car turned into a CRIME Scene and the dog was still losing serious blood within an hour. I ASKED: "Stop the bleeding and make sure to tell me next time you cut the nails too short, because I used to work at a Pet Salon so I know what you did!!!."J was worried that I would ask him to pay for additional damages so he LOST IT AND WAS YELLING HOW HE DID NOTHING WRONG. If he/his practice did not know the dog was bleeding, then why patch him up before releasing him the first time. Have you ever put a band-aid your finger just for FUN?????? In Summary of why J is a liar and does not deserve your business. 1. He or his practice choice not to disclose about the wound at check out, because sweeping under the rug was the best way. 2. He refused to take blame of his own practice, because pretending to fire his innocent employee was better for his ego!! 3. He lied at THE TOP OF HIS LUNG Yelling back at me that he had no idea about the wound, but his employee said other wise. 4. He sent an innocent employee to clean the blood off my car(some of the alcoholic solution had damaged the leather permanently) because HE IS TOO GOOD TO DO IT himself. I left.....with a wounded dog, a free bath in the future(no thank you!), a car still covered in blood marks after 60 mins of scrubbing(Need to re-dye the leather and the cost is unknown), no apologies about with holding information and NO promises that he will tell me anything like this in advance so I can better prepare myself. My Isabelle was in desperate need of a make over, her shaggy fur was out of control. I hadn't yet been to a groomer in Orlando and heard from a friend that Sparky's had just opened up downtown. I saw her pup's style after a day at the salon and decided it would be a great place to try. I dropped Isabelle off on a Wednesday at 11:00 and she was ready to be picked up at 4:00. The place is run by the owner and one groomer so you really feel like your getting personalized attention. Very friendly and helpful. Isabelle is weary of strangers but they were extremely warm and talked to her in a soothing way to make her feel comfortable. The prices are very reasonable and Isabelle came back looking cute as a button. They cut her in the exact style I requested. Sparky's is top dog! read more

I took my toy poodle and my cairn terrier to Sparky's and they did an excellent job! They gave my poodle a classic poodle cut, which the majority of groomer's never do. And my poodle hates getting groomed and throws a tantrum as soon as I leave him behind. My cairn terrier is 18 years old, and they took great care of him. Excellent job! Totally worth the money. This is a really convenient and great grooming location for all downtown dogs! Don't be surprised by how small it is inside, but they do utilize their space really well. The staff is very friendly to both people and pets and their own dogs hang out there too. You can schedule an apt. online, call ahead or walk-in and they offer a lot of different services and packages at reasonable prices.
